One year deal, we need kickers competing, no downside and little risk.

Didn't necessarily see that coming given his struggles as the season went on.

Kind of hoping we draft that kicker from Georgia with a late rounder.

No reason not to bring him back.  No guaranteed money involved.

SUPERB OWL!!!

Anything less than an NCF championship will be a disappointment now.

Congrats @ncfan for breaking this huge announcement.

Would love that guy from GA.

He only really "struggled" because the team struggled.  He had a very large amount of 40+ and 50+ yard kicks that no kicker in the NFL was taking.  Our offense was so bad and would regularly sputter out, we'd send in Slye every time we hit the 50 yard line.

No guaranteed points either.

I'm okay with it, but I also wouldn't have screamed if they hadn't brought him back.

Is there another kicker you have in mind that would drastically hit more from the 50+ range?

No brainer. Kicker is one of the hardest positions to find a reliable starter.  You're not going to find anyone clearly better on the free agent wire. Just ask any team that lost their kicker during the year how easy it was to replace them. But even if you get lucky and find a better replacment in the offseason, it's a league minimum, unguaranteed salary. You'd have to be a complete and utter fool not to give him the contract now.

No, he struggled. Make no mistake about it....he struggled.
