Football is here! Chargers vs. Lions
LinvilleGorge replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's fine if you don't like college football. Cool. But you're being intellectually dishonest as hell here. That's my whole point. You wanted to go on a rant against college football so you're going to attribute all the things you want to rant about to me whether I've actually said them or not. Bizarre behavior but hey whatever -
Football is here! Chargers vs. Lions
LinvilleGorge replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
It wasn't "scrub time". That was my point. I think it may have been the only nationally televised game he played. They won 28-20. It was a competitive game. Lance completed 6 of 10 passes for 72 yards and had 30 carries for 181 yards. Hence why I was confused how this guy was being out forward as a top NFL QB prospect. Like what I just watched is not going to translate to the NFL, hence the Temu The Golden Calf of Bristol comment. You're just over and over trying to show horn on arguments and stances that haven't actually been out forward. -
So avoidance? Cool. It's weird people watch an inferior product but Im fine with that because I can make fun of it. i just evaluate how it bleeds into this place. You did it and then deflect.

What about that game was "scrub time"? You just seem hell-bent to just go on rants about your evidently hatred of college football and attribute the things you would like to rant about to me. That's all. It's weird. -
You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.

TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."

DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.

They've gone way overboard with the masking of plays by only filming the ball in air. Nobody is analyzing camp highlights.

Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.

Rivers was a 4 year starter in a conference that produced nfl qbs. My comment about his motion wasn't intended to be the key reason for not taking him in the 1st. Just a response to those raving about his passing. He was avery inexperienced passer with major questions about his technique and the obvious competition level. Rivers had more pass attempts his senior year than Lance had in his college career

What? Have you fallen and hit your head, man? LOL -
https://x.com/justblande/status/1951303807347904627?s=46 Dave Canales just confirmed on @UpAndAdamsShow that Bryce Young and rookie WR Tetairoa McMillan will play at least one series in Week 1 of Panthers preseason vs the Browns
-
Glad to hear that we're gonna play the starters. Seems like the last few years we've been treating preseason like a SB contender just trying to protect our players not needing a lot of questions answered instead of the dumpster fire with more questions than answers that we have been.
-
You literally were talking about a game he played in as an example. Not his ability but play in scrub time.

I get all that but you're just spouting off against something no one is even saying. -
Well all the schools are pretty much the same thing with different bank accounts. It only looks different to people who watch that level. My take was who gives AF about those programs vs what the NFL teams do to coach up guys coming in from bigger programs that still need major work. Hell Young came from Bama and still has kid gloves on going into year 3 lols. I just think that people who watch that level of play get it twisted constantly. There are 64 QBs thst are starters and main backups so no shocker that 665 NCAA football teams don't pop out talent good enough for those 64 spots every year...which is what I was saying about those programs. Not trying to be a hit peice but I just don’t care about the schools or their play, just the prospect.
