  1. are the Saints the last team without a coach? I understand the cap and the old players being the only good ones, but someone has to coach them.
  2. Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan has a busy offseason ahead of him. With a defense in need of a substantial retooling, and an offense still seeking playmakers, the second-year GM is on the hunt for talent. And that’s what brought him and nearly the entire Panthers scouting department to Frisco, Texas, this past weekend. More than a dozen Carolina evaluators were on hand during the first two practices of the annual East-West Shrine Bowl on Saturday and Sunday. The group interviewed dozens of players and watched practices to get insight ahead of the draft process. Most of that group will also attend the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, later this week. 3. One of the Panthers’ best players will go to his first Pro Bowl after an impressive first season in Carolina. Robert Hunt -- the team’s right guard -- was originally an alternate after missing the initial Pro Bowl roster, but with North Carolina-native Landon Dickerson going to the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, Hunt is stepping in as his replacement. In 16 games this season, Hunt gave up only 2.5 sacks and was called for holding just one time. He was perhaps Carolina’s most consistent offensive lineman all season long, and brought a personality and sense of leadership that radiated throughout the locker room. The Panthers signed the 28-year-old to a massive five-year, $100 million contract this past offseason, and one year into the deal, it seems to have already paid dividends for Carolina. Darin Gantt @daringantt · 3h With Panthers guard Robert Hunt added to the Pro Bowl Games today, it marks the first time since 2021 the Panthers have had two Pro Bowlers. (I mean, unless you count that year when Christian McCaffrey spent the second half of the year in SF.)
  4. Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 2h ASU safety Shamari Simmons just made an impressive, backward lunging pick off a deep ball from Minnesota QB Max Brosmer. Brosmer comes back and hits Miami WR Jacolby George in stride toward the sideline for a first down. Much quick-paced team drills than yesterday. West OL vs. DL pass rush drills: - Indiana DT CJ West really impressive swim move. Great burst off the line. - Boise State edge Ahmed Hassanein finally upended because Florida OT Brandon Crenshaw-Dixon is an oak tree of a pass protector. - Boston College G Jack Conley having a nice weekend, just stopped SMU DT Jared Harrison-Hunte in his tracks. - Really like Indiana OT Trey Wedig sturdiness and physicality. @ShrineBowl
  5. Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 2h #Panthers assistant Daren Bates running field goal drills. Miami K Andres Borregales continues to be nails.
  6. Mike Kaye @mike_e_kaye · 1h South Carolina DT Tonka Hemingway with a phenomenal double-team run rep in individuals. Anchored both blockers like a champ. Got love after the rep from coaches and teammates.
  7. he's the right kind of receiver for us, should be there in the back of the 2nd
  8. one thing to remember. Canales came from Tampa Bay. I could see him wanting his own Mike Evans for the next 10 years. There are differences, but a lot of similarities.
  9. one problem we had last year was getting the ball in the end zone. Having Tmac should greatly help us in the red zone. It would be fun watching Bryce's accuracy to a guy who can get up over the entire defense.

  12. don't suppose it would be wrong to post this in the regular forum...after the season that one is all about the draft. But I'll play along. A mod can move it. The draft forum doesn't get the traffic the main one does...the second is a correction of the first post (probably thinking about the WR Higgens https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1882890568281260305 https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1882909783092842731
  13. good camp body who could make the team as a back up, hopefully to someone else not currently on the team.
  14. using fanspeaks simulator...first three are a dream draft Team Picks 8: R1 P8 LB Jalon Walker - Georgia 57: R2 P25 DL Deone Walker - Kentucky 74: R3 P10 EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku - Boston College 110: R4 P9 C Connor Colby - Iowa 113: R4 P12 TE Terance Ferguson - Oregon 139: R5 P2 CB Jabbar Muhammad - Oregon 145: R5 P8 WR Jaylin Noel - Iowa State 162: R5 P25 OT Ozzy Trapilo - Boston College
  15. i'm ok with this....he makes a difference that we haven't had for a while. with DB on the line, Jalon at LB and Horn at CB, we have 3 stars to build around.
  16. New England is the wild card here. They have their qb, so protecting him and getting him a wr will be tempting. If they go with bpa, they might take Abdul or Johnson. we'll have good options either way at 8.
  17. oddly enough, another mock from SI released today also has us taking Jalon 8. Carolina Panthers (5–12) Biggest needs: Edge, DL, CB The pick: Jalon Walker, LB, Georgia The Panthers need to accumulate game-wreckers on defense. They finished last in the league in both run defense and points allowed this season, and they were tied for third worst with 32 sacks. Walker, an explosive chess piece who has the speed to run sideline-to-sideline and the quickness to routinely win pass-rushing reps, can elevate Carolina’s defense on multiple levels. He tallied 60 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks in 2024. https://www.si.com/nfl-draft/2025-nfl-mock-draft-first-round-predictions-cam-ward
  18. Saints get Johnson, the cb, probably the safest pick in the draft. He's an island. Really hope they don't take him. Falcons get 290 lb edge Shemar Stewart. Bucs get Nick Emmanwori, a playmaker at safety. I really wanted him but not in the first.
  19. he knows no more than any other pundit but its the offseason so here it is. has NE taking Carter. Jacksonville then taking Graham at 5. Jets taking Mykel. and we select Jalon Walker, who has been growing on me. He's a playmaker at a position of need. 8. Carolina Panthers Jalon Walker, LB, Georgia Carolina gave up 6.0 yards per play and 31.4 points per game this season, both last in the NFL. Regardless of what you think of quarterback Bryce Young's long-term potential, it's tough to win games with a defense that allows that many points. Walker is versatile, and he can line up as a traditional off-ball linebacker or as an edge rusher. His game is all about speed-to-power, and no matter where you put him, he can get into the backfield to blow up plays. He had 6.5 sacks and seven tackles for loss this season, and he'd be a fit in coordinator Ejiro Evero's unit. https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2025/insider/story/_/id/43472017/2025-nfl-mock-draft-mel-kiper-first-round-predictions-32-picks#car
  20. another sting ....we've lost Burns, Luvu, Chinn, Dontae and Reddick...for very little return
