  1. If you listened to Gettleman's comments before the Combine about the ticking time bomb, then you'd know that drafting DGB is almost nil. Let me say this however, if they bring him in for a workout there is hope. If they don't, you can pretty much forget about that ghost of a dream.
  2. Maybe so. Maybe not. He may just be that type of under the radar player that needs to be grabbed while he is still cheap as dirt and no one is thinking about him.
  3. If G-man signs him, I am going to trust that he knows what he is doing. In fact, I chose Nicks to be the first free agent signed this year in that other thread.
  4. Why would you trash any free agent visiting, particularly as it pertains to our receiving corps, or, in the case of Boykin , maybe special teams? With our sub par receiving corps competition is a good thing in my book. We need all the depth and competition that we can get to go above and beyond what we had last year in my opinion, on special teams and receiving.
  5. That goes for those bitching' and those bitching about those bitching. It's kind of nauseating after awhile.
  6. Everyone can talk about what they like, but don't be surprised when you get called out for making presumptions and assumptions during the first week of free agency, much less the second day. Initial reactions are sometimes the wrong reactions. The wise man patiently looks on and analyzes the situation before opening his mouth.
  7. The Nicks thing is probably more about the money than the scheme. Nicks miscalculated last year, and now he has to pay the price. He gambled on the one year prove-it deal with the wrong club and lost millions. If he is smart, he will sign a modest contract for a few years and prove his worth, then sign another one in a few years commensurate with his production. Or, he can try another prove-it deal at markedly less money, try it again, and risk taking even more of a financial hit. I don't think that Gettleman is interested in playing around with Nicks on a prove-it deal. Nicks' play was arguably decent, but his overall production was sub par for whatever reasons. He needs to face reality that he isn't the best receiver in the NFL, but far from it. He needs to accept the fact that the market just isn't there for him right now, and that depending on the situation, he could do more harm than good to his market, just like last year. If he gets three mil per year with a few mil guaranteed on a three to four year contract to play at home, he might should consider himself blessed. If not, he can always go gambling in Cleveland.
  8. You may be right, but the other half looks like fuging dicks for no good reason. It's all unnecessary bitching from where I'm sitting. Everyone needs to take a chill pill as opposed to whining and let free agency play out.
  9. In the vicinity of 2.5 mil per year, with 4-6 mil guaranteed on a 4 year contract. This person may not necessarily be a WR2, but with upside. We can then draft someone to definitely fill our WR2 role, or at least compete for it while they develop, then likely have to pay them bigger bucks in three to four years if everything works out.
  10. The break up with the Texans was not about the money, no matter how much you want it to be. Moreover, the whole conversation began by me asking you why you thought Johnson would get a contract over 10 million per year. Well...Anyway, you act like Johnson is supposed to work for peanuts. He got a decent contract for what he brings to the table in fitting with his age and experience, which is what I suggested that he would get from the very beginning. Plus, most importantly to him, he is playing for a contender.
  11. Only a sick mind would think that up. LOL
  12. Actually, I did toO (probably like most of us). This is even more of a reason not to believe the hype regarding anyone not named Kelvin Benjamin. There is going to be some competition, and the Huddle may not like who is going to be cut, because someone is going to be cut.
  13. And Crabtree is a receiver with an injury issue that hasn't lived up to his billing. So, there you go. I don't see ringing endorsements about either one, but I'll take the faster, more explosive guy with the upside, especially in our offense.
  14. I am sorry, but it bespeaks of a lack of credibility to say that Johnson, Nicks, Crabtree, Bowe, Moore, or even Mike Williams don't have talent. They all have issues, but lacking talent is not one of them.
  15. Moore lacks talent? You're off your rocker. Did you even care to watch Moore carve Sherman and company in the preseason last year? Obviously not.
  16. Hell, if you are to believe reports and rumors, here and there, we are interested in higher priced FAs at this very moment.
  17. No way you're going to tell me that we can't afford a receiver with questions, but who has flashed in the past. I don't believe it and I am not going to believe it. Even last year we were willing to throw a few bucks at Nicks, and we were in a decidedly worse cap situation.
  18. Kelly didn't hate Maclin. He wanted Maclin, just at a cheaper price. Plus, Crabtree fits the non-leader, laid back type that Kelly seems to covet.
  19. I didn't say it did. i appreciate Voth for what he does. I appreciate all the writers and bloggers that cover Panthers football (except for maybe Gantt, who is still taking shots). I think that they all do a decent job at what they do. Unlike some of the ignorant that speak around here, I realize that they have other things to do than carry their phones and wait for the next tip or twitter update. I just believe in keeping what all of them say in perspective, and realize that they are ultimately guessing like everyone else, until they are told otherwise.
  20. I don't know that you directed towards anyone in particular. Only you could answer that. But, other people take your words and ascribe them to Growl or PanthersUnited (who seems like a little less knowledgeable, I will admit, but still provides some interesting questions), for example, and run with it. Neither of these guys has spoken to jumping off of a cliff. Neither is a troll either.
  21. That poo is lame. You build from the draft, and bring in bargain free agents---sometimes big name free agents---to fill in holes and get you to a Super Bowl. It's not that hard to understand. Where the differences come in is what constitutes a bargain. That is totally worth discussing.
  22. That's great. I think that many of us had low expectations. That's the way to be with G-man at the helm. I just don't think that we should burn someone at the stake for expecting a little more. It seems like some people get their jollies from sinking their teeth in the first thing that they can someone says like a pit bull, shake it up in their teeth for a bit to disorient their ignorant cheerleaders, and spit it on the ground in order to meet their lame ass narrative that speaks to some perceived overreaction by people who are just trying to have a sensible conversation.
  23. Sure, Boykin may turn out to be a solid move, but don't tell me you were all jumping up for joy and cheesing about it when you found out. I don't think anyone that knows this team is doing that, unless they're stark raving mad!
