Trading for Sean Payton vs Settling for Steve Wilks
Growl replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
it just feels like the 10-7, 6-11, 9-8, 4-13 road ahead would be set in stone for us -
plus Sirianni and Taylor had legitimate, varied NFL resumes’ Outside of Steichen, the only other resume’ I like from an experience standpoint is Dorsey. and uh how do you guys really feel about ken Dorsey as head coach material
-
Bengals fans hate zac Taylor
-
how long have you been a fan of this team edit: just because there’s names left doesn’t mean there’s quality candidates left. Payton is a pretty safe bet but likely untenable, Steichen is the best remaining option.
-
starting to feel like they get stuck holding the bag, they need to start dialing in on Steichen. if they get stuck with anyone else it’s gonna suck all the wind out of the sails not that there was much of that left anyways
-
the information is that he has a plan

Roman Harper thinks Sean Payton could be our next HC now

with Johnson going back I think Payton is probably the only chance they have for picking up an actual offensive innovator. i trust Steichen to develop a QB which is good enough with where we’re at, especially with a good staff, but I’m unsure that he’s some pioneer. feels like you’re getting into that second wave of guys who may just be guys. -
I remember when he took over as DC and how brazenly dissatisfied with him we all were and how we were relieved he got poached for the Cards job

Go on record now before the hire is made Re: Sean Payton
Growl replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
he’s a pretty safe bet and the other candidates remaining really don’t inspire me with much confidence. Steichen I like but have some concerns with. hard to turn that down. they gotta be prepared for what comes with it though. You give up a future 1 you better come away with a QB this draft. if that means you have to trade Burns for a couple 1’s to move up and buy a high dollar pass rush in free agency you better do it. Can’t do half measures. -
really don’t think we’re missing out on anything with Kafka tbh

yeah he’s definitely waiting for a great team with a great record to fire their coach -
people watched the wild card game and formed such a rigid opinion of the body of work Brady had this season and actually post that opinion publicly
-
all of these culture win people suddenly want the team to draft a long term option newsflash that would be on the table if they were picking top 5

the saints don’t really have a lot of leverage theyve got to move him now or they’re gonna get nothing rather than something, and because Payton knows he’s damaging the team he’s going to, he isn’t going to foster an intense bidding war to keep the cost down. it’ll still be significant but if it comes in lower than expected I won’t be surprised -
this honestly makes sense the two have tried to pull it off before, and it makes a whole lot more sense than Brady trying to leave the dumpster fire NFC South to go play in the same division as patty mahomes newsflash Brady has had like 7,000 coaches, he doesn’t care where Josh mcdaniels is shame they traded away their best offensive player for peanuts
-
wow this is what’s happening isn’t it thats so us
-
what are you talking about the state of the roster is irrelevant draft picks aren’t the be all end all of building a team nfl teams don’t exist so their fans have lots of exciting mock drafts to read each offseason there are other ways to address needs
-
damage control lol
-
kind of hoping all the Huddle rationalizing of the mccaffrey trade as getting “first round value” proves true
-
I mean maybe but that’s a pretty big stretch for them all to just assume they’d get Carr, Payton included a top 10 QB is a pretty desirable selling point for a coach, especially an offensive one
-
Payton hiring is a pretty high floor at minimum and definitely bolsters the odds of developing a rookie QB draft picks aren’t the most important thing in the world the Niners have brisked right by the trey Lance trade pretty seamlessly
-
If they trade for Payton they have to come away with a 1st round QB this draft and the whole league knows it
-
you’re weirdly emotionally invested in this

what does it mean
