Football is a team sport. SF defense did not carry the offense to the playoffs. The offense had 2 MVP candidates and one of them ended up being the OPOY. The offense did more than it's fair share. Shanahan is a problem in the big games. He stops doing what got him the lead in the first place. I've said before, Wilks called a great game in the SB until the very end when they went into that prevent D and then in OT when Reid took him behind the woodshed. Wilks should probably get another shot at being a HC. What happened in AZ wasn't his fault entirely but it certainly carries a stigma. Then there's the number of jobs he's been in in a short period of time. Some guys make great coordinators and crappy HCs. Add the interview process and the plan for building a team. It's hard to say why he hasn't gotten the call again, but I'd say he deserves it a shot.

Nobody got the vision except for Scott Fuggerer and we saw how that turned out. The Huddle was right about major moves more than Scott by a long shot and that's just damn sad. The trade was important, but I think it was also premature for a couple of reasons. 1. Reich was the wrong coach from the start. I know you love Wilks, but he was never my choice. My choices were Steichen, Johnson and Ryans. I know Steve is a local guy and he did pull off some wins at the end of the season, but personally I love the energy and passion from Steichen and especially Ryans. Ryans was always my number 1 if we chose a defensive HC. 2. We were not a couple of pieces away from being a real contender. We really didn't know what we had because Rhule was such a buffoon that he didn't put anyone in a position to succeed, or even be productive. It's hard to build around a team when you don't even know what your team has. 3. Most important, the team had no real identity. You can't pick a new QB to fit a system when you don't even know what that system is. We were a year removed from Rhule trying to get rid of "Keep Pounding" and replace it with The Process. Again, we didn't know the effectiveness of many of the players because they weren't used enough, or they were used out of position. Even after the trade, we weren't putting BY, CJ, or AR into a position to be successful. You've got a guy trying to steer a rudderless ship. The team needs direction and that starts with Tepper. Right now, Tepper looks like a toddler in the cereal aisle screaming at the top of his lungs and the fans are the people staring at him wishing he would shut the hell up.

Since Tepper bought the team, there has never been a rebuild full scale. We've tried to buy cheap and flip for gold and it has failed miserably. This team can't go any further until Bryce proves he's not the guy. Now to a lot of fans, he's already proven that. For Tepper, his golden boy is going to have to crash and burn even more spectacularly for him to move on. If we had an owner that understood this is an NFL franchise and not a hedge fund, it would be different. But it's not and this is the Carolina Panthers of 2024.

Normally I agree with putting assets into defense, but right now our offense can't score points. No defense is going to hold an opponent under 14 points a game. We have to put resources into offense first if for no other reason than to say with certainty Bryce is or isn't our QB moving into 25'.

What about the Panthers to win the 1st pick in the 25' draft? -
Let's not go too crazy with OL upgrades

That includes foreplay and time to pick up the whiskey on the nightstand. -

He reminds me of Russell Wilson in his ability to freelance when a play broke down. That diva thing though, that poo is a problem. I'm out in the PNW and know a LOT of Seahawks fans and they liked RW during the game but hated all the diva BS that constantly followed him everywhere. -

There's always the hope that he trips on his way to the microphone and somehow falls into the audience where the crowd parts to let him hit the ground instead of catching him to crowd surf. That'd take the sting away for 2.7 seconds or so. -
The kick bouncing off SF player's heel changed the game. That doesn't happen and SF is celebrating a 6th title. Sometimes, that literally is just the way the ball bounces.

Fowler, Graziano: Panthers want to re-sign Frankie Luvu

Tony Romo would have crapped his pants... again. -
Wilks did really well until that cover zero prevent defense crap. As soon as that started, I knew Reid was going to tear him apart. The one thing you don't want to give Mahomes is an easy open middle of the field. Play the game that's been successful all night. Don't change just because it's the 4th quarter.

Wilks called a hell of a game but Reid took him to school on the last drive.

I hate to break it to you but you don't understand sarcasm at all.

KC wins, he proposes. KC loses, she breaks up with him and debuts her new song while the Lombardi is being handed out.

The comparison was to Burns and the contract he was offered. I have no worries about Frankie at 4/45. I said halfway through the season he was outplaying Burns and should get paid. Not signing him last year was just another Scott Fubar. -

If he asks for 30 mil a year, let him walk. If someone offered 2 1sts and a high 2nd in trade, buh bye. Frankie is a baller and I'd love to keep him, as long as the Financials work out. -
In a deep qb class should the panther take one day 3?
SmokinwithWilly replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
The goal should always be developing talent and improving the roster. If there's a QB that we think could develop into a solid backup or potential starter, we need to be looking at him. Every player is 1 hit from their career being over. It's foolish to just assume that Bryce, CJ or AR don't fall into that category just because they're young.
