  1. The pressure would certainly be there but whether it happens or not is still up in the air.
  2. But do those evaluators have a significant voice or any voice? If yes then they haven’t made a good case for themselves these past couple years and if no then the guy who has the decision making powers is not someone you can trust. Just to clarify I agree that if a team doesn’t have a franchise QB then they need to get one, especially in the draft. Even if the guy Rhule and co. picks will get Josh Rosen’d it still makes sense to still trying to get a QB.
  3. Do we have the guys who can do that job? So far this has yet to be seen and evidence currently points to no.
  4. The worst part is that we are in the worst year to make that investment. This is truly a case of Murphy’s law.
  5. I am fully expecting Rhule to go into self preservation mode this off-season. Throwing stupid money to fix the OL and throwing future draft capital to get himself into the top 100 in the draft. I like to think it’s always darkest before the dawn but I except it to get darker.
  6. He will use the same analytics that convinced him that Darnold is basically a rookie.
  7. I’ve more or less accepted this. If it works out I’ll eat the crow like when I was wrong with Cam but if he doesn’t he will be Josh Rosen’d and we will pick #1.
  8. I’m hoping if I hate Pickett as much as I hated the Cam pick I will be proven very very wrong.
  9. The problem wasn’t that everyone was surprised that Darnold sucked. The problem was why did t professional coaches know that Darnold sucks.
  10. I don’t really get tied to draft prospects anymore. Trade down/OL is my preference.
  11. Na, thats a bad comparison. Darnold has four year body of work that shows he isn’t the guy you want. Even his first three games hardly moved the needle to say otherwise.
  12. But it still doesn’t change the fact that CB was a luxury for the place this team is at right now. The fact that we were able cover that position by later acquiring Gilmore shows that we did not get the best value for our #8 pick last year.
  13. Yikes. Worst take of the year front runner….
  14. I think one could easily argue we thought we were contenders before the draft. That is the only way you explain trading for Darnold and exercising his option.
  15. I thought when we left the Hurney era we would start getting more value for our top picks but it’s obvious we haven’t…
  16. The issue is not with selecting a CB but the fact we did not get proper value for that pick. Starting corners can be found later in the draft. A team with obvious weakness at OL and QB should not be selecting a corner in the top 10.
  17. Exactly this! Huddlers misjudging draft prospects is hardly a big deal. We’re nobodies that’s what’s supposed to happen. But if paid professionals are getting it wrong more than right then they are probably terrible at their profession.
  18. Good thing they’re doing it when we’re trash. Don’t need to find an excuse to sleep through a Panthers game.
  19. I’ll never understand why some huddlers think that professional evaluators being better than some random fan on the street is some sort of thing to be praise them for.
  20. We gave up our top 100 picks for Darnold and paid him 18m. It’s safe to say we are currently using anti-analytics.
  21. If Rhule gets the sack there is a good chance the new guy will want his guy especially if we’re picking in the top 10 again.
