The softest team in the league as well.

Every team so far has interviewed a blend of offensive and defensive coaches. I’m totally fine to be skeptical about everything this team does right now but what exactly would you like to see them do differently? Also, last year our search had a “direction.” We were set on an offensive mind and missed out on Ryans and Gannon because of it.

Vrabel interviewing with carolina Thursday

I can give you loads of examples of teams hiring retreads and it working out. Any coaching hire ever is going to come with some sort of risk. Just because it didn’t work for us last time doesn’t mean don’t try it again. -
If you think you have even a 10% chance at Johnson I’m fine to wait and let this weekend play out to make a final Hail mary attempt. But if the Lions win, I’m not sure we can go an extra two weeks without hiring a coach unless we’re super confident we might get him. And every insider thinks him to Washington is a formality

This argument is as dumb as not wanting to CJ Stroud because he played at Ohio State -

Yes, the Tennessee Titans. They have a pristine reputation when it comes to building and sustaining a winning culture. -

16 of the last 23 Super Bowl winners were coached by a retread. I’d say the evidence shows it works just fine. -

You can’t look at those rosters Vrabel had in Tennessee and their yearly records and honestly tell me he ever underachieved. -

Vrabel easily clears the bar of a good coach for me. Let’s not act like he’s had juggernaut rosters in Tennessee. You can make an argument no coach has done more with less over the past few years. He's also exactly what we need from a cultural standpoint. He’s taken a ragtag group and won games on the road in the playoffs by playing smash mouth, disciplined football. Sound familiar? -

Just a strange coincidence that we wanted to be in Rooney Rule compliance before he’s in the building tomorrow? -

This is the type of guy you don’t let leave the building- 159 replies

I’m just getting sick of hearing about Harbaugh. He needs to make up his mind instead of doing this same dance every offseason

I'd be floored with Evans signed with us under any circumstances. At his age he'll be ring chasing and I can't imagine he won't have plenty of contending teams vying for his services. Signing with a 2-win team makes zero sense regardless as to how much you loved your OC that you knew for 6 months.

I do wonder if we have a dark horse candidate no one has legitimately linked us to yet. My guess in that case would be Vrabel, who I'd be thrilled with.
-
Yeah, it is a bit puzzling to me that we have no interviews scheduled past today. Obviously some of the initial people we interviewed are coaching this weekend, but we've seen reports that the Commanders and Falcons are setting up second interviews with Johnson. Falcons with Macdonald and Weaver also. There has been nothing our way about any potential interviews after today.
-
Canales and Morris interviewing in person today. So after today we are Rooney Rule compliant and theoretically could make a hire at any time.
-
I’ve certainly had this thought also. Last year we didn’t wait to speak to Steichen in person and didn’t even bother reaching out to Gannon. It seems like we’ve learned nothing from our mistake.
-
In a vacuum, I'll be fine if it's Canales. But if we make this hire in the next few days without giving a second interview to Johnson, Slowik, or Macdonald I'll be a bit frustrated. That would just reek of hiring someone to hire someone, sort of like last year. I still wonder how much of the Canales news is actual insider information or the media just making the connection to Morgan and running with it.

I see the vision but Tbf if we’re not bringing Ben back in it’s because we know he’s going to Washington so we could easily call their bluff there
-
Such a hard on they didn’t even do a 30 minute zoom with him
-
Falcons have requested a second interview with him

There were reports last night of teams requesting second interviews with Macdonald
-
It definitely feels like that’s most likely right now. The Morgan ties, and he seems like the type that would definitely take/embrace this job
-
Either we have a really good idea who we’re going to hire at this point or we’re being turned down for second interviews by some of our candidates. Unfortunately, I have a guess as to which one is more likely to be true here. I feel like Quinn, Slowik, and Macdonald are telling us no.
