DJ Johnson is lost

Well, he did start the skirmish with a grip in XL’s facemask.

I don’t think there are more than 4 QBs who could have had a successful season with our weapons last year. A slowing but reliable vet in Theilen, a locker room cancer for a few games in Johnson, two rookies with potential, and a rookie at TE too.

Where are you expecting to ‘see’ him hit the jugs, and if you don’t see it, does it mean it didn’t happen? There were reports that he worked on the jugs machine a lot this offseason.

Gonna need some young OL to develop and keep that a strength.

If you’re building the right culture, and imo we are, you only trade Theilen this year if he requests it or becomes a locker room problem which I can’t foresee. The guy contemplated retirement and wanted to come back here to continue building the foundation of that culture. He’s been more than solid for our offense and Bryce. He’s also been great in the community. You don’t turn around and ship him off, unless he wants to go contend and we’re out of it. That would be a bad look imo.

If Tremble is TE1, then I think I agree with the writer and Fant needs to be signed. I like Tremble, but he has a long way to go before he’s at Fant’s level. ETA: I believe Sanders will be our TE1 if the room stays as is.

I don’t want him to be cut. I’m hoping he’s the heir apparent at slot.

Who of these guys is he playing above? TMac, XL, Theilen, Coker If none, then he’s WR5 at best. I can see Renfrow also getting PT before him, especially if his hamstring issue lingers. So what’s best for the team? Roster Horn as WR6 or keep him stashed and use that roster spot elsewhere?

We don’t disagree on Theilen’s outlook, but he’s getting more PT than Horn this year. That feels like a near certainty to me. That’s why I posted we should stash Horn somewhere that will save us a roster spot but also keep him under contract.

I’m not saying you’re wrong on what would be best for building up our young core, but I doubt Theilen returns if he wasn’t going to be an important part of our passing attack. He would’ve retired if he was going to be WR4 or less imo.

For a roster spot. I could see our WR room consisting of TMac, Theilen, XL, Coker, and Renfrow. Theilen earned his playing time last year. Unless he’s regressed a lot this offseason, I expect he’ll be targeted 5+ times per game early this season.

We don’t need him this year. Put him on IR for the year and let him study behind Theilen and Renfrow. Next year, he may have a legit shot at playing time.

Maybe so. I don’t think I’d trade our WR room for theirs, but there’s so much unknown with our group.

Rice, Worthy, Royals is a good young core.

We’re paying the price for restructuring Moton this year. It would be extremely timely if we hit on a young tackle next offseason.
