Yes, he’s wrong. He knows that throwing a few interceptions in training camp is little cause for concern, especially given Reich’s comments today when he confirmed that they are encouraging Bryce to take risks in practice to find out what works. He chose to sensationalize Bryce’s interceptions in camp to make people think they are excessive and are a cause for concern, neither of which are the case. Yellow journalism is alive and well.

I think Bryce was a bit self conscious about his song selection and didn’t realize that would get out of the locker room. I remember being his age and having a Mariah Carey cd that I liked but was too embarrassed to put in my car cd case that my friends would see. I have no idea what Steve was doing either. Maybe Bryce got ribbed by his teammates for it already and was just in that head space. It seems like he and Smith have a fine relationship, Bryce was comfortable enough to check him a little and Steve tried to help Bryce feel less self conscious about it and they were able to bring it back to center in the end.

I think most of them work out, I just don’t know what the work outs are. There seems to be a disproportionate amount of injuries in camp compared to the rest of the off-season. They need to re-think things next CBA. Players perspective has always been pushing for more pay with less mandatory training camps, practices, full pads/full contact days, etc. but I think they may not have found the right balance currently. I’m also sick of talking about guys still trying to find their rhythm, offensive lines gelling, fully opening the playbook, etc. weeks into the regular season.

Matt Rhule would have buried him just like he did with Corral and we’d be sitting here in the same position with Bryce Young and Howell instead of Corral just hoping he shows enough in preseason to develop some trade value.
