  1. I’m guessing this means they get bailed out on that albatross contract now, of course.
  2. And he wants the you know what. I’m sure he’s smart enough to know the deal.
  3. Something is wrong with the huddle and it won’t let me quote Canadian cat so I’ll just quote this. The way the contracts in the nfl work is actually pretty fair, not to mention that it is a system that has been collectively bargained by the players themselves. Contracts can always be breached in any system/profession. It’s not a matter of whether one side has the ability to and the other doesn’t, it is a matter of what the penalty for breaching is. Teams are penalized for cutting players before their contract is up. It is also the only recourse teams have if a player is not performing up to their contract. Players can also breach their contracts by holding out, sitting out, etc. and choose to accept whatever penalties or forfeiture of pay results. It’s not a unilateral system as some seem to believe. Yes there will always be players that outperform their contracts as well as players that don’t live up to them. Since I’m a fan of the TEAM, I like when the team makes savvy investments and gets performance under market value.
  4. Such weird thinking honestly. I’m a fan of the team. If it is better for the team that a player can be cut and the money that would have gone to them can make the team better being spent on a different player, that’s what I want. I’m not gonna shed any tears over millionaires losing some money being cut before their contract is up due to performance/injury and I don’t see how that gets you any social brownie points among the proletariat. Aren’t you just licking the millionaire athlete boot? These guys ain’t hurting.
  5. The school has already said this isn’t true. Just part of SECSPN’s continuing smear campaign against Belichik for dating a 24 year old. Not that I approve, and sure they are probably both using each other, but they’re both adults so whatever. Media hack Pablo Torre is defending his rumor spreading by crying that the school did not grace his information requests with a response in a manner timely enough for the ego of an SECSPN reporter, therefore it is ok in his opinion to spread rumor as fact.
  6. Why do this? What leverage did the rook have to get an unprecedented deal? Just go status quo and stop trying to get an ESPN article written about you at your own and everybody else’s expense.
  7. We brought him in to be a bridge and depth piece. Not sure what we can find out there with the $7m that would be better, would have preferred keeping him this year thought we would have a good rotation with him, Wonnum, and the rooks.
  8. Finding positives in Bryce’s most recent play which constitutes over a third of his career so far = cherry picking. Obsessing over the negatives of his rookie season and first 2 games of sophomore season = the only acceptable way to form an outlook on Bryce Young. Makes total sense. Wish you guys would stop cherry picking only his NFL stats! You can call pretty much anything cherry picking it’s not hard.
  9. Mike Wallace, Martavis Bryant, Chase Claypool, Plaxico Burress. Headcase WRs are what the Steelers do.
  10. Not to mention his rookie year he had Gross, Kalil, Wharton, Hangartner, Williams, Stewart, 89, Olsen, and Shockey. Looking at what Bryce had his rookie season in comparison is laughable.
  11. Cam did have Olsen, so there’s that, but yeah I’m very happy to see the FO take building the offense seriously and was somewhat worried before the draft that they thought it was good enough. Love the Tmac pick and what it does for our WRs.
  12. It’s so weird to see people complaining about putting better players on the team when we all complained the whole time Cam Newton was here about not properly building around him. Remember that time Cam had some shitty players on OL in the Super Bowl? Go figure, MVP of the league even looks bad when he’s getting pummeled all game. And Cam never had an OL that even sniffed the incompetence of the 2023 OL. I’ve never seen so many plays with immediate free rushers up the middle. But let’s somehow make improving THAT unit and the worst WR corps in the league an indictment on the QB.
  13. Yup, after the first couple of weeks I thought we had ruined him. Clearly zero trust in his OL and receivers and a lot of bad habits developed. Classic case of a guy that shouldn’t have started year one, not because he lacked the talent, but because the team around him was so clearly terrible and it hurt his development. I still don’t know who to blame for that debacle, I think Reich is a better coach than that even if he’s no Vince Lombardi, and nothing really got better once he was fired. Thomas Brown looks like he might have been a pretty major culprit, he didn’t appear to do Caleb Williams any favors either and that was with a far superior supporting cast. Feeling a lot more optimistic and I think this could be a fun season.
  14. I’m hoping very early because that probably means he’s balling.
  15. I just don’t see Nalo catching on with the general public. I’m sure it makes sense for his friends but it feels forced from my perspective. Tmac is just a natural shortening of his name. Tet feels most natural, imo, as is evidenced by basically everybody naturally just calling him that before they are told not to. Imo, mama bear should just get over that one, but hey it’s what moms do. If he is ok with Tet, as he said he is, I think it’s fair game. Either way, if you have to take a poll on a nickname, I think that is an answer in and of itself.
  16. It was yo gabba gabba Blaine Gabbert, but yeah equally dumb. I remember him being head over heels for Jake Locker, too. I remember thinking Mallett would be a great QB and wanting the Panthers to draft him, but hey at least nobody pays me for my opinion on this stuff.
  17. Ok but is anybody investigating the media pranking Shedeur into believing he was a top 10 pick?
  18. Well glad that is decided, thanks!
  19. Thanks for the exact quotes, I just went back again to refresh myself because the overall sense I got from it was that Tet was “their guy” before the draft even started. I still get that when watching that whole presser as a whole, though there is certainly some ambiguity and room for interpretation. The question before he was talking about the couple days leading up to the draft and nit-picking Tmac’s film and how it was cool to come together with Morgan and know “unless somebody blew us out of the water, we weren’t gonna let our guy pass.” Sure he could have suddenly transitioned from talking about before the draft to the moment they were on the clock with the 8th pick, but I don’t know. I just think if they were hoping for Graham, his language would have been slightly different. Not in a way that anyone would think anything of it, there’s plenty of room to still be coach speaky about getting their guy and whatnot and nobody would bat an eye.
  20. Time will tell, but this seems like a home run draft as of right now. I don’t spend my time analyzing 200 prospects pre draft like some of you, but after learning more about these guys post draft these all make total sense and it seems like the team did an exceptional job matching BPA with areas of need. Starting with Tmac, the team came into the draft needing a couple different types of receiver: a true X and a speedy vertical threat. Tmac is a true X receiver and the clear top dog of this receiving draft class. He is capable of being the X from day one with this team and will allow all the other receivers to fit into more natural roles and play to their strengths. Just a truly perfect fit that changes the whole receiving corps. Scourton I think is capable of being a 3 down OLB/Edge right out of the gate, though as of right now I see him in more of a rotation with Clowney still on the roster, which is a great spot to be in. He plays the run well and has a couple really good pass rush moves (a spin and a chop) that he can rely on while he develops his full tool kit. I’ve seen some speculation that his busy hands could lead to some increased penalties early in his career so that could be something to watch but overall I’d rather have a guy who has to learn a little more restraint than a guy who has to learn to work and fight harder. Umanmielen is a taller, leaner Edge who I have seen described as very bendy. He should be able to contribute right away on pass rush downs and has the frame to fill out and develop a little more strength against the run. I was originally a little disappointed in the Etienne pick as I know many on the Huddle were as well. Part of it for me is just philosophical in that I’d rather just draft o-linemen every single year and make sure that depth is always refreshed with the knowledge that even bad running backs can look good behind an excellent OL. But, after learning more about Etienne’s game, I get it and he seems to compliment our RB room very well. It sounds like he will be the best receiving back on our roster day 1 while also adding value on special teams. I also like that he has relatively low mileage from college. I think this is where it is helpful to not be tied to pre draft mocks and big boards because this and especially late round picks in general the teams just maybe valuing completely different things. So if you liked x running back better, you may be right and that might be a better running back from a pure run the ball standpoint, but that guy may have been a completely wasted pick for our team and what we were looking for. Etienne seems like a very complimentary back for our roster. The TE (Mitchell Evans or Evan Mitchell I forget which) also seems like a great compliment to our current TE room with a lot of upside. He is more of a true inline TE than either Tremble or Sanders (especially Sanders), and should be a great combo with Sanders for years to come. His 2024 season he was returning from a torn ACL and his production increased as the year went on so we may have gotten a total steal here. Ransom I know may have some redundancy in skill set with Moehrig, but it’s late in the draft you just have to go BPA and realize we are more than likely drafting backups at this point. Love the 5th round DT, just a huge body run stuffer. It’s late round and size plays. And the 6th round WR is just another skill set that we needed more of in the WR room who can play special teams. All in all, I love this draft. Sure, it would have been nice to add another CB, or a free safety, or an OT or Center, but you can’t realistically do everything in one draft. I thought they did a good job sticking with BPA, making moves when necessary to secure highly rated players with high emphasis on doing that in earlier rounds when it mattered most, while also getting guys who could fit specific roles that we needed. It felt like they had a very good feel and understanding of how the draft was playing out and when runs would start happening as there were a couple times (Scourton and Etienne I noticed very clearly) that the team got ahead and selected the player at the beginning of the position runs. A+ from me.
  21. Based off their comments, I absolutely think it was Tmac the whole time and the only thing they weren’t sure of is whether he would even be there at pick 8.
  22. Seems like there was a good chance of Jacksonville taking TMAC at 5 had they not traded up. Schefter was making the rounds in the day or 2 before the draft saying the Jags wouldn’t be taking Mason Graham. I know it’s hard for people to come off of what the media big boards said, but TMac appears to have been one of the small group of coveted players this draft. Morgan and Canales said in their presser they were happy when the Browns took Graham because that meant there was a good chance Tmac would fall to them. Not bummed Graham went off the board, excited. They said it would have taken extra to entice them to trade out of that spot when Tmac was available, not a discount but a premium. Very encouraging.
  23. Don’t be too hard on OP, he was just going along with the accepted huddle group think of the past 2 years and thought he would get pies and grumbles of agreement.
  24. For the love of all that is good SOMEBODY needs to take care of this place. I haven't been able to get in my account for like 6 months because I forgot my password. Password recovery email never comes through. Hell, I even tried creating a whole new account multiple times and the new account verification email never gets sent. The security question for creating a new account is still "Carolina Panthers head coach _____ Rhule". There are many reasons why this place is dying, one of them should not be that people can't do basic things like create an account or reset a forgotten password. I finally got on my computer browser here to try a bunch of different passwords and got in, and let me tell you this site is absolute cancer. Completely froze or crashed my browser multiple times. This will probably be the last time I log in on anything other than my phone. What a mess. A sports forum shouldn't be worse for your computer than an early 2000's nudey site.
