  1. Are the Panthers not allowed to buy 15-17M/yr DEs like so many teams have the last two years. Reddick C. Jones z. Smith Hendrickson Hunter Judon Nwosu With 25-30M and 3 picks you can pick anyone and still have leftover money and draft capital
  2. That’s also many more snaps to accumulate sacks. Burns has 12.5 sacks in 951 snaps. Reddick has 16 sacks in 767 snaps. Would you rather have Reddick type DE(which is what Burns is anyhow) at 15-17M/yr BOZEMAN at 8-10M/yr OR Burns 25M/year 2M/yr FA C(that’s worse than Eflein) Then on top you get 3 premium draft picks that look better every day.
  3. It’s only 5.6M that can be split over two years if they want. That’s nothing when cutting a QB. The rest is base salary at 30-40M for the next three years. No one is trading for that contract. He would have to agree to a completely new deal to make a trade even discussed. If they thought they could trade him, they wouldn’t have destroyed his value by making him go away
  4. Please explain why a person who has BEEN fired because of the chance of an injury would participate in practice, lifting or anything that might result in injury at the team facility?
  5. He costs them another 17.2M if he gets injured. That’s why he’s not playing. He wasn’t doing much better than the other two. No reason to risk it.
  6. I didn’t. You made it. I just brought it infto the light. You want to pay 25-28M to a guy who”isn’t Garrett(makes 25M/year) but is Reddick(15M).” Your words. Can’t be both. I was given a specific scenario. And someone asked if I would give Burns 28M/yr. As I’ve always stated I wouldn’t. So anything at that point is a bonus. And this situation won’t come to that. No one said it was better than the Panthers turning down 3 high quality picks for the right to overpay a situational DE by about 10M. That offer will never come again. Is it the football you don’t understand or the basic math.
  7. If you would have done that 5 pages ago, you might have avoided actually making my argument for me. Now its sad because this has devolved into fanboys going But I’m sure it will be fine. I’m never right when it comes to contracts and the Panthers.
  8. I would take a 3rd round comp pick before paying Burns that much. Reddick and Luvu armed/would be good deals. Both are much better players than I ever thought they were. And you could have both, plus 5M more for what Burns would make.
  9. You dismissed a “metric” with no personal bias. Wanted to show posts from people on here to prove your point. Only to offer a vague list from one person taken before the year. Wonder who was on that? The only one displeased is you and your “we should overpay him because….reasons” theory about a player on your favorite team.
  10. I’ve never said it was. You said there was no metric but personal bias. I showed one. From a “metric” that doesn’t have a bias. So you can save your rant. So I should look for a list from before the season, from one man’s opinion? Over a site that actually at least grades all plays. Is that top 25 list a metric? Can’t really tell. I didn’t say you can’t see. It’s just you don’t understand what you’re seeing.
  11. If you are making an argument that he’s worth top DE money, you better believe his defense on 40% of snaps matters. That’s why players who are similar(like in your words Reddick) get around 15M/year. Teams don’t hand out 25-30M for one dimensional DEs.
  12. It doesn’t go up enough to justify overpaying a player 10M+. Max Crosby just got 24M and his is much better than Burns. Reddick got 15M/yr this offseason. Smith 14M, Nwosu 9.5M/yr. Watt is highest at 28/yr. The Steelers have two Edge’s better than Burns. What part of replacing him with a similar player who won’t be as expensive but just as productive is so hard to understand. Then using the extra money elsewhere. Then still have 3 picks that could be used in any scenario. Especially finding a QB. Saying Burns is a 16-18M/yr player is far from calling him average or mediocre. He’s just not elite. And shouldn’t be paid as such. But he’s a Panther and will be.
  13. Nope. Stating that there is no metric(whatever that means) other than “personal bias” where Brown is better than Burns is the issue. Is PFF biased? Is it a metric? What’s your criteria? Let me guess…it’s fluid.
  14. Who cares where he was drafted. That means nothing now. And Garret, who is a “generational type” gets 25M/yr.How is it smart to even pay Burns lose to that. The picks are pure bonus after Burns is replaced with 15-17M DE, and a 10M more investment at DT or other DE. And 3 picks that would be top 40 and possibly top 10 with the direction the Rams are going. 5 players. 2 proven FAs and 3 picks or Pay a guy who is “Reddick” like he’s Garrett. Which he “isn’t according to you”. On a team with numerous holes to fill. Use the whole picture and not just the picks. You can buy a jersey of the new players too.
  15. And also discarded when it doesn’t support a ridiculous “personal bias” narrative from someone who hasn’t got the first clue. And proves it repeatedly.
  16. You’ve answered yourself in this thread already. “He’s no Myles Garrett” (which is exactly the whole point) AND he’s “is what Reddick is”(once Again…dead on) are your statements. Which is why it doesn’t make sense to pay a player 10M more than he’s worth a year. Reddick, Smith, Nwosu, Hendrickson, Judon and more. All for around 15M/year. And Burns is basically replaced. Now on top of 10M to fix another position. AND Three premium picks. That could be traded themselves for an QB or proven vet. All to overpay a top pass rusher.
  17. PFF Grades Brown-80.6 Burns- 63.8 Does Brown have family working at PFF?
  18. Yep. Along with your telling people that you were a better fan and more knowledgeable while being completely wrong. We can still go to the tape if you like. It was a made up lie and you got called on it. Sorry about your damn luck. And any hostility comes from your history. And your attempts to hide from it like a little girl.
  19. They did run many 2 TE formations. Just rarely on Burns side. So we can BOTH be right. The only fiction here is your made up story about Burns facing TEs all day long. And someone with your history of trashing anyone outside the “echo chamber of optimism” should not act like pointing out you’re wrong…again…isn’t anything more than payback. And then the usual retreat. What’s your new alt going to be?
  20. It’s important enough for you to change your alt after being wrong about pretty much everything you have ever said. Should we take a look at some of your past rants which are very similar to the BS you’re slinging now.
  21. We can go through play by play if you want to prove your theory. I promise you will not like the results. And Hey @iamhubby1. What is your next alt going to be after you say so many ignorant things this time it’s the only way to escape your humiliation?
  22. This is not true at all. He spent about 70% of the game matched up with Charles Cross. And it didn’t go well for Burns on those plays.
  23. These rankings seem to disagree. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-edge-defender-rankings-week-13-micah-parsons-myles-garrett-2022 10. BRIAN BURNS, CAROLINA PANTHERS Burns has been an ironman for the Panthers this year, leading all edge defenders in snaps (718). Despite that heavy workload, he's been incredibly productive. Burns ranks fourth in the NFL in pressures (53) while also placing second in hurries (34). He’s already recorded double-digit sacks for the first time in his career (10) and is still only 24 years. His lack of ability to stop the run (49.5 PFF run-defense grade) is the only thing keeping him from being higher on this list.
