The real question is what do we do next year… Kochetkov may or may not be the future and the free agent class for goalies is abysmal. In reality, what we have is the probably the best we can get right now.
-
I brought this up a few weeks ago, he’s the steadiest goalie that we have. He’s good for a leaky one every game but outside of one leaky goal per game he’s usually rock solid.

If you are going to use PFF, use them in their entirety. In 2018, under James Campen, McCray had a grade of 64.0 when he exclusively played guard. That placed him in the top half of all offensive guards in the NFL. 64.0 is much better than the 57.3 grade that Christensen put up last year and people seem to think that he did just fine.

Chatty’s back. Obviously no Pacioretty or Svechnikov, no Stastny, de Haan, or Coghlan either.
-
McCray’s best year of his career came under Campen when he strictly played guard and graded out in the top half of all offensive guards, 36th out of 86th to be exact (minimum of 275 snaps).

I’m not into calling games must wins, but this is as close to a must win as you can get. A win and we are comfortably back in the drivers seat as the leader of the metro. We’d be up three points with a game in hand. A loss and we only remain one up on NJ.

Pacioretty Wants To Remain In Carolina
MillionDollarCam replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
For me, it’s more about his age. I think RBA wants that grinder line to get younger. I’m guessing Fast will want a three year deal to take him to 34/35 years old, I don’t see the Canes doing that. -
Pacioretty Wants To Remain In Carolina
MillionDollarCam replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I actually don’t think Fast will be back. I think next years lineup will be something like. Forwards Pacioretty - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas Teravainen - Staal - Puljujarvi Martinook - Drury - Noesen Rees Defensemen Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce Gostisbehere - Chatfield Goalies ??? Kochetkov With Svech likely to miss the first bit of the season, I could see us maybe going after someone like Bertuzzi as well. -
Sanders? Just help me understand.

If we’re off by $2M for a WR that has barely cracked the 1K mark and has never played a full season then he wanted too much money anyway in my opinion. He’s really the only young WR left so we’ll probably have to overpay a bit but it is what it is I guess, shout-out John Fox. But yeah, in reality, that deal needs to get done. There’s nothing else out there at the WR position. -

We have money to spend, might as well spend it. It would be one thing if we could get elite talent at the WR position but unfortunately the free agent WR group is trash. Running back and tight end are the next best options to address for a young QB and the Panthers addressed both. -

I think we have to wait until we see him behind our OL and our scheme. I personally don’t think RB is that big of a need when you can draft one in any round this year and come out with a good one but as far as Sanders’ contract goes I don’t mind it. I’d probably have gone cheap and just signed someone like Jeff Wilson but I’m not going to hate on the Sanders deal because I think his contract is very fair. Below is the AAV’s for NFL running back’s, if Sanders is overpaid, it’s by a measly $350K a year. https://overthecap.com/position/running-back As for Foreman, I think he showed that he is one dimensional last year. Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Tampa all shut him down last year down the stretch and unfortunately we ended up losing those games. When he isn’t breaking tackles, he doesn’t provide a whole lot. -

Sanders’ AAV is 12th in the NFL between Conner and Hines. Sanders and Ekeler are probably on the best RB contracts in the NFL that aren’t rookie contracts. Additionally, who is to say that Hubbard will be a part of the Panthers next year. A new coaching staff means new players. A bruising running back could still be on the horizon and I for one would prefer Sanders and Charbonnet/McBride over Foreman/Hubbard. -

There’s so many solid running backs in this draft that Foreman can easily be replaced. Zach Charbonnet or DeWayne McBride are both bruising backs that could replace Foreman. -

Looks like Martinook’s Canes corner, which replaced Svech’s Canes corner, has now been cancelled…

Yep, also a big issue, would have to hope that NIkishin doesn’t magically get drafted into the Russian army so he can’t leave for the NHL.
-
Under contract with the KHL until 2025. Unfortunately, the KHL does not have a player transfer agreement with the NHL so the earliest will see NIkishin is the 2025 season unless his KHL contract gets terminated.

I actually would like to give Rees a look, he reminds me of Lomberg from Florida who I can’t stand but I’d love to have on our team.

This whole thing is bullshit. First Patches, then our non-existent TDL, now Svech. The hockey gods are being real pieces of poo this year if you ask me.
