It is a shame that Jordan Travis’ injury cost FSU a shot at the playoffs. -

Obvious to everyone with eyes what the top four was going to be. Eye test, eye test, eye test. This will also allow the committee to justify SMU jumping undefeated Liberty for the G5 NY6 bid. -
I liked Shane and Tripp. Kind of reminded me of just two buddies watching a game together and talking about it on like a live podcast lol.

Ain’t no way you can put this version of FSU in the CFP’s. Michigan would be up 20 on them by halftime. -
Most complete game all year. Maybe not the best but the most complete in all aspects of the game (offense, defense, goaltending, special teams).

G5 Champions CUSA - Liberty AAC - SMU SunBelt - Troy MAC - Miami OH Mountain West - Boise State P5 Champions SEC - Alabama BIG 12 - Texas PAC 12 - Washington ACC - TBD BIG 10 - TBD Besides the top 4, the other big question the committee is going to have to answer is who gets the G5 NY6 bid… Liberty or SMU. -

Saying it as a fact is asinine. However, it is a known fact that injuries are factored in to the CFP choices. If FSU wins on a game winning kick against a Louisville team that just lost to a mid SEC team in Kentucky then they could easily get left out. -

And neither team is the same team that they are now. To say that won’t play into the decision of the committee would be foolish. If Alabama hangs on they can say LSU was FSU’s best win but it was probably Bama’s third best win. That’s how large the SOS gap is between FSU and Bama. -

Agreed, looking at FSU’s schedule, their signature win came against an SEC team that didn’t even make the SEC championship and that win was over 90 days ago when FSU was fully healthy. Corrigan will fight hard for an undefeated FSU team but if they don’t dominate a Louisville team that is coming off of a loss to an average SEC team, then I can see FSU getting jumped. -

I think it depends on how much SOS plays into the decision. Bama, Texas, and FSU would all be conference champions which apparently holds a lot of value to the committee. So it comes down to SOS vs. an undefeated team. FSU will say that no one beat them but Texas and Bama will argue that they’d also be undefeated with the same schedule and both will be higher than FSU in the College Football Power Index and both Bama and Texas also have a stronger SOS. Bama and Texas will argue that if going undefeated is that important then we might as well let Liberty in. -

It’s tough because FSU is an undefeated champion but the argument is there that they had a fairly week schedule for a P5 team. Beating a mediocre Louisville team in the ACC championship probably won’t be enough to actually jump Alabama or Texas in the College Football Power Index. Then you have Alabama who arguably would have the best win on paper out of any team in college football. But then Texas would argue that they beat Bama head to head, albeit over 90 days ago. I don’t envy the job of Corrigan. -

Boo Corrigan has to be shitting himself right now. Washington and Michigan (barring some sort or collapse) are locks. Now let’s say Georgia is 12-1, FSU is 13-0, Texas is 12-1, and Alabama is 12-1… who are the other two teams? Also, remember that Corrigan is the AD at NCSU, he’s going to fight hard for a 13-0 FSU team. -

So which P5 team is going to give that Liberty QB a mil in NIL money. -
He’s the best cheap option that’s probably available. Gibson is 100% available as he’s asked for a trade before. It just comes down to compensation vs. retention. Gibson is owed a lot of money over the next few years and while the Canes could probably fit Gibson in if they put Andersen on LTIR and moved out Raanta and one of Drury or DeAngelo, I don’t know if the Canes would want to pay Gibson $6.4M a year over the next few years. A trade for Gibson also means Andersen isn’t going to be available until the playoffs because there’s no way we could open up enough cap room for him to return in season. I’d be open to something like this… Carolina Receives: John Gibson @ $5M ($1.4M retained) Anaheim Receives: 24’ 1st Round Draft Pick, Antti Raanta, and one of Vasiliy Ponomarev / Ryan Suzuki OR Carolina Receives: John Gibson @ $5M ($1.4M retained) Anaheim Receives: 24’ 1st Round Pick, 25’ 3rd Round Pick, and Pyotr Kochetkov

Mrazek is way better than MAF. Mrazek has proven success with our team, system, and defense. He also has a .900 on a bad Blackhawks team which is way better than what Raanta and Kochetkov are putting up on a good Carolina team.
-
Anywho, I’d call up Anaheim and see what they want for Gibson. If something like a first round pick, Raanta, and Ponomarev/Suzuki can get it done then I’d probably do it. If the Ducks ask for Nikishin, Morrow, or FUS then I’d pivot to Mrazek and see if he could be had for a third or fourth round pick.

I also don’t think Stamkos is on thinners. His clot was caused by organs pressing on veins, it was corrected with surgery. Vasilevsky actually suffered from the same issue. Not sure if Freddie has this issue or something entirely different. Edit - He actually is on blood thinners. Dangerous game to be playing.
-
Not always, Stamkos came back from his clot. Albeit, I’d retire if I was Freddie. Being on blood thinners while playing a sport where guys are flying around with knives on their feet isn’t exactly something I’d sign up for.

Also fake news. The Observer ran an article prior to this stating that Bridges will probably be back. Hell, Miles even questioned this report in a tweet.

There’s not a whole lot of teams out there that are going to move a number one this early into the season. Most teams are still trying to figure out if they are a playoff contender or not. I only see a couple options… The cheap option is Petr Mrazek and the expensive option is John Gibson.

Give me Seabass tonight.

If the current results hold, it’ll be all tied up heading into the Duke/Arkansas game. ACC - 5 SEC - 5

Think it’s a combo of the two. They won’t shoot this well every night, but I think as Cadeau becomes more and more comfortable with the college game, Carolina will continue to progress. Over the past couple of years it’s been all iso, Cadeau is really helping with the ball movement. The Heels have 13 assists on 19 made FG, Cadeau has 6 of those. When UNC shares the ball they look like a Final Four team. When they don’t, they look like an NIT team.
