  1. That Temple team notably had Dion Dawkins who Rhule recruited, one of the better starting LTs in the NFL these days up in Buffalo.
  2. Most were on his 2015 team which should note had 14 NFL players. He heavily recruited Franklin but left for Baylor by the time Sam arrived.
  3. For f*cks sake we have 2 Baylor players on the squad. We may need an entire thread deticated to the same 5 people recycling the same joke over and over and over
  4. Shi is back in 2-3 weeks so I guess they're fine rolling with Moore, Robby, Marshall, Shi, & Zylstra 5 is a go. We officially gave Ricci a FB designation and are rolling with 4 TEs. Gon' be cray!
  5. I remember liking Morgan in the draft buildup from his year, had some good downfield throws in college. Decent highlights, didn't seem like he had shown much once in the bigs. But might as well kick the tires right?
  6. Some names that jumped out to me (then google verified lol): Tyrell Cosby OT - Could start at LT with Moton at RT Jermaine Eleumunor LG - Here's a starting LG Reid Sinnett QB Nate Hairston CB Temple (yep, I said it, get one of them 2015 Owls in here) Karl Joseph S My biggest wish is a Paradis and/or Elflein replacement
  7. I think we min need 8 wins or else the seat as mentioned will get mighty hot. And then we give them an ultimatum to find a QB. Personally, I'm not bought into Darnold until I see something better than NYJ. However, I'm not bought out of the staff and that we don't have a good trajectory going on with Rhule & Brady. Rhule has been here what, ~400 days? Let's see how they respond their second season, let it unfold a bit into the year; that's typically a make or break timeframe to see if these guys are on par with quality NFL coaches or if they can only do so much. Overall, I hope Tepper can recognize if that becomes the case but it's too early to judge either way (at least for me). I thought Rhule passed a few good 1st year tests last season. It find it odd that people are so on about basically having our 4th TE (who still may be cut), 2 promising young DBs, and a somewhat crappy aggressive backup QB from Temple who may not even survive the coming weeks. OH NO, SCHOOL BIAS!
  8. I get the feeling you may be iffy with our coach's plan and the current backup QB. Call it a hunch.
  9. I thought we landed a TE that year. Remember having that 1st pick in the 4th and people were like, oh damn that's a steal. He's an all around TE, huge upside. Just too bad he couldn't work out the fundamentals at this point. Frustrating because I thought he could have been fire.
  10. I'd only go after a backup that could be young and come out of nowhere (like that Miami kid) or a guy that could win us a game if we're in contention (unsure if that's really out there relative to what we get in PJ) So, if we fair alright but Darnold doesn't look like the answer (which I suspect could easily happen--I.E. 7-9 wins, no playoffs, Darnold looks iffy at times), then it doesn't matter who the backup is; this crew will be mandated by Tepp to either find a proven vet or draft one high and just make it happen. That's why I don't think this year's QB2 matters all that much.
  11. For those getting ready to make fun of a Temple Owl signing, I can actually see us going after Nate Hairston CB from the Broncos. He was battling for their 3-4 CB spot, still young, has some good years under his belt, and part of Rhule's Temple squad at their best.
  12. Notable Observations: Waivers will get traction/pick up tomorrow. Burris' hip is roughed up, doesn't sound serious. Getting injection today; back tomorrow Shi Smith is 2-3 week timetable to return. NOT IR'd Roster is fluid, emphasized a few times Overall, he does not give me the sense we're set. They're looking. He's talking with Scott about options. PJ is the QB2 as of today. He was very pointed to not say he's here to stay. Dan Morgan helped bring in the new DE. Shined in preseason, seems like a promising pickup Interesting point for Rhule pessimists: He explicitly mentioned that as a head coach and GM, if you drafted a guy that doesn't fit in your plans anymore, you need to learn to move on. Can't be shy from just cutting the bait and moving on from someone you wanted at a certain point for one reason or another. He was pretty firm on 4 TEs and a fullback approach with Gio. Collin seems to have made it for STs/a do it all type, Gio is a FB, Tremble is an everything guy with upside, and Arnold is our starter.
  13. Rhule is always so coy; the fact he said it's fluid means we could still make a handful of moves and just not one or two. We're still 3-5 moves away from the week 1 roster IMO.
  14. With him not on the team, no. PS, maybe. I see a void even if Elf can back up Paradis.
  15. It's crazy how quickly the Ron-Cam-Luke era ended but it did and that's dat. Dabs done gone now and dat's that. We're in GEQBUS Rhuling times.
  16. Won't lie, I think they all look to be pretty good. Wilson and Lance showed the most upside, Fields had some really good moments/a few shining throws, but Jones overall showed the most. And Trevor coming in with Luck and beyond expectations did not help how he looked. But it's so damn early.
  17. G/C Elf/Paradis backup plans (They seem committed to Brady at T, can't trust Daley to be healthy) LB depth - Stanford and Johnston can't be the best we can do behind our young group QB - But I see only ~2 options so that's a long shot
  18. Or maybe we're finalizing a Thomas deal for a treasured 7th haha
  19. One more to go and we have 5 TEs.
  20. If you can't have our extra LS, then no one can. Kind of happy Melvin is gone, seems like we've got more athletic youth to have in the secondary.
  21. Yeah I get you there. From an optics standpoint, it looks like he's playing favorites on the outside looking in. But from an internal standpoint it's a guy that knows the playbook, started and won (not exactly a shining performance vs. DET ha), so they're okay with it because there's no clear better options that would not compete with their trusted QB reconciliation project 2.0. Maybbbbe Garrett Gilbert? Brett Rypien? Nick Mullens? I mean, ehhr. I think Matt Barkley would've been a good target this past offseason though. But at this point, they'd have to be assured it's a guy that could smoothly transition, take in the playbook, and win a game if need be. I just don't see the options. Fair points, don't mind the back and forth
  22. You're looking at the school in a vacuum. It's the individual from prior experience. Not some impulsive Owl influx. I'm still open to Rhule and don't see PJ as a reason for turning on the guy. It's our backup QB. I mean, we kept Weinke until 2006. And here's not a perfect analogy, but let's say you kept up with someone in your industry that you worked well with and were beginning a start up, are you not going to consider him/her when you get going? Sure, don't let it blind you from making a move for a better option but Grier wasn't that. And I have seen no clear cut obvious backup signing that is in this zone where they looks better than PJ but won't create a weird situation for Darnold. And if Darnold sucks, we're obviously getting a top QB pick next year or a proven vet QB so it is likely PJ's last season here anyways.
  23. A coach and GM collaborate along with their scouting depts with their best knowledge and experience to bring in players to a franchise. It's not black and white. You're mad about us keeping PJ and already didn't like Rhule. If you want to stick with that, then fine man. I just don't really see this PJ thing as a huge concern although I would very much prefer rolling the dice elsewhere. He likes him more than Grier and we may not pick up a guy. And he beat a crappy Lions team starting for us last year. Whether it's because of the familiarity bias or not, I'll hold concerns but I'm not all sunshine and roses w/Rhule. He has a lot to prove in pulling together an offense right now considering the positional talent we have at RB and WR.
  24. We have 2 Baylor players. Again, as many as Western Michigan guys. Now, I can see the pessimism when it comes to Temple. Especially considering PJ still being here when he is quite frankly a fringe backup/CFL starter talent. But, do consider if you were brand new to coaching in the NFL and there were 2 already moderately successful guys that you coached available (Robby and Reddick). Yeah, I think it makes sense to bring them in. Guys that trust you, understand your approach. And the others guys aren't having a huge impact but honestly, Chandler and Franklin look like fine depth pieces. Franklin may even supplant Burris at some point. So really, we're talking Thompson and PJ as the guys that may undeservingly be here. I get you're not a Rhule fan but you're hyperbolizing it a bit. I don't like PJ being here but I don't really have a problem with the others. And we just released Kirkwood.
