Kuechly's official title is pro scout, but Fitterer and the team have said they don't want to narrowly define job roles so they may have had him do some college scouting as well. Heck, I probably would if I were them.

Simms didn't dictate that. Effectively speaking, the 49ers did. Pretty much everybody thought the 49ers were taking Mac Jones from the day they traded up to #3 right up till the last couple of days before the draft. And even then, people were treating the talk about Trey Lance as rumors. Their smokescreen game was damn near perfect.

Matt Rhule on Sam Darnold and the QB Situation
Mr. Scot replied to methodtoll's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not at all. In fact it was pretty much confirmed. I don't know if "strongarm" is the right word, but Newton absolutely wanted an extension and the Panthers weren't going to give it to him. And yeah, the "can't I get a little commitment" post did help hasten his exit. -
Trent Scott did a pretty decent job filling it at left tackle last year. I read a comment that was one of the reasons why the Panthers were comfortable trading down. They didn't feel that some of the tackles taken after the first round were significantly better than Scott.

Load of analysts had the 49ers taking Jones. They fooled everybody. Funny thing is that per the reports I've been reading, Lynch and Shanahan didn't even discuss their final decisions until draft day.

I suppose it's possible both could happen. I'm not that familiar with the other guy Breer mentioned.
-
Best wishes, Ellis.

Greenberg and Golic > Greenberg

They think Slye can improve? It happens. Don't know if it will here.

I don't remember exactly how old but yeah, he was older than the average rookie.

You have the option for about five minutes, then it goes away. (that's not a real popular feature here) -
I've never seen that clip
-
I vaguely remember seeing something that there were going to be limitations on how many players you could bring to tryouts this year. As I recall, previously you could bring in as many as you wanted.
-
The NFL's goal was to make it harder. They definitely succeeded.

I miss having a "delete post" option.

Not just talking about field goals. When I was young, missed extra points were something you saw about as often as you saw a unicorn. These days, it feels like I see at least one per week (and not just from us).

Interesting note about Terrace Marshall

Me too. What an amazing person. -
I'd have to look it up. Rodgers was in that role forever. Pretty sure he originally took that job when Marty was named GM the first time and didn't leave it until last year.
-
To be honest, a lack of consistency is pretty consistent across the league. It's definitely tough to find a reliable kicker these days.

Washington, and the guy whose name starts with S works for us now (Samir Suleiman). An autographed picture of Marty Hurney.

I'd actually forgotten he was with the Falcons. If I remember correctly, he was drafted by the Ravens.
