  1. Nobody cares how David Tepper spends his money. People just dislike Matt Rhule and don't take this story all that seriously.
  2. Friggin? I definitely get the impression quotes we get from practice next year are going to be more...interesting than they were with Matt Rhule. Bring back Brian Baker to coach the defensive line and you've got potentially the best season of Hard Knocks ever
  3. You and John drinking from the same bottle today?
  4. Your sound as though you've got some experience in this area
  5. From what I've seen, I'd say he might be a better quarterback coach than offensive coordinator.
  6. You'll have to pardon me if I have a few questions about your judgment regarding football matters
  7. There was word that the Cowboys were going to try and poach James Campen. Solari's pretty good too though...
  8. Also from the Reich profile thread... Duce Staley: Speaking of offenses people would like to steal from, the Lions. Word was the Panthers wanted to steal the guy who ran that offense for their head coaching spot, but Ben Johnson backed out. If you can’t steal Johnson though, maybe you can get one of his assistants. Perhaps even one who also happens to have worked with Frank Reich before in former Eagles player and coach Duce Staley. Sure, why not? The tricky part here though is that Staley currently has an “Assistant Head Coach” title in Detroit. Would that complicate things? Don’t know, but it’s possible.
  9. That explains the "how" Heh Jim Bob Cooter: Yep, he worked with Reich too (I mean, who hasn’t?) Specifically, as an offensive assistant with the Colts from 2009 to 2011. He’s the passing game coordinator for the Jags at the moment under former Reich teammate Doug Pederson. And heck, some fans want him on our staff for his name alone. Also just for the record, our former ST Coach Heath Farwell is on Pederson’s Jacksonville staff as well, along with our old buddy Brentson Buckner.
  10. I think the rules changed a little while back, but even if not I'm pretty sure it would depend primarily on his contract status. If his Lions contract is expired, he can go anywhere and do anything he wants.
  11. I don't really think anybody "loves" Tepper right now. There are however some of us who think it's at least possible that he just made a major decision without screwing it up.
  12. I have no interest whatsoever in being part of the Tom Brady slobber fest. But that picture hurts
  13. The line for me is making sh-t up. If you do that, you deserve whatever comes to you.
  14. Stop me if you've heard this one... So the team with the #1 pick is gonna try and see if they can trade it away for a great deal. Kinda like the team before them did... And the one before that... And the one before that
  15. There's such a thing as a duck slaughter machine?
  16. Read above. Actually sounds like Tepper might have a point.
  17. From the story: Rhule signed an eight-year contract with Nebraska that pays $74 million in base salary along with $4 million more in deferred salary if he remains employed by the school across various vesting dates. Whereas Rhule's contract with Carolina had a consistent base salary of $8.5 million each year, the Nebraska contract escalates each year -- from $5.5 million in the first year to $12.5 million in the final year of the deal. According to a source, the Panthers will argue that Rhule's Nebraska contract violates the league's anti-tampering policy. Section 3, Article D of the policy under "CONTRACT WITH NEW CLUB/REASONABLENESS" reads: "If the contract with the new club includes a substantial salary increase in new contract years, the Commissioner shall use the following as a guideline to determine the reasonableness of those increases: (i) if annual compensations is scheduled to increase by 20 percent or more for the new contract years, the prior club's annual offset, if that club is entitled to an offset, shall be calculated based upon the employee's average annual compensation during the entire term of contract." The argument is that Rhule's Nebraska contract has an unreasonable increase of greater than 20 percent when factoring in deferred salary and other benefits. Though the league's anti-tampering policy makes no reference to college coaching jobs, the policy also does not make an explicit distinction as to what it means by "club." So as I understand it, the Panthers think that the University of Nebraska constructed the first year of his contract the way they did in an effort to squeeze one last year of salary out of the Panthers and save themselves a little money. The Panthers called bullsh-t.
