  1. There's usually one domino, and then the others start falling fast.
  2. How many unsuccessful teams was Bill Belichick a part of before the Patriots? Likewise, Kliff Kingsbury and Sean McVay both coach in the NFC West. Does that make them similar? Pretty much all of that is a huge reach.
  3. Different actors involved here... I have no doubt that Dan Rooney (the guy who created it) intended for it to have a positive effect. The league itself and other owners? That's where the questions begin. Politicians have understood for decades that you can all too frequently get away with looking like you're doing something even though in reality you might not actually be doing anything. Pretty sure that principle is very well known inside the NFL/
  4. The Brian Flores lawsuit (that Steve Wilks is part of) could potentially have an effect on it.
  5. Shula did that too. Wound up with no offers.
  6. Yeah. there's no real similarities between those two that I can see.
  7. Is the actual intention of the Rooney Rule to get more minority coaches hired or is it to provide positive PR / cover for the NFL?
  8. I'm sure the fanbases of the teams that hired Jon Gruden, Bill Parcells, Jimmy Johnson and various other Super Bowl winning coaches thought the same thing. Likewise, the Broncos and Browns fans probably thought their quest for a franchise quarterback was over after the massive trades and deals given for and to Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. There's always some unicorn, generally a head coach or quarterback, that fans latch on to thinking "if we just get this guy who was good somewhere else, we're guaranteed to be winners". And they're pretty much always wrong.
  9. The Panthers had already requested an interview with Kafka prior to this weekend, but I've yet to see any definitive scheduling note. Others are now signing on...
  10. This guy does. I do too. Frankly, probably an awful lot of other people do as well.
  11. I don't know that it exists. You'd be the one on the side of suggesting it does.
  12. I can't imagine it would be too hard to verify whether or not someone medically advised Jackson not to travel.
  13. Here's the thing about a potential Johnson / Fangio pairing... One of the things that helped Johnson rise to prominence was that he figured out a flaw in some Fangio defensive concepts commonly used around the league. Pairing an older guy whose defensive concepts are copied everywhere with a younger guy who figured out a way to beat those concepts creates an "iron sharpens iron" situation which I would be absolutely all for.
  14. Your exact words... And I repeat, wise decision making most certainly takes what others are doing into account.
  15. A wise team absolutely pays attention to what other teams are doing. Also good to know which other teams tend to be smart or stupid so that you can be discerning.
  16. Also worth noting that a Cowboys loss potentially creates another opportunity for Sean Payton.
  17. The only interview I've actually heard an official schedule date for is Johnson's. Obviously, Evero's schedule should be free.
  18. What fans think is a nothing story. What teammates think is another matter. If a guy's teammates have trust issues with him, that's something I'd like to know about.
