Panthers requesting interview with Jim Bob Cooter for OC
Mr. Scot replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
Back in high school I had a group of friends who had small boats for fishing (pretty common in my area). Three of them decided one night they were gonna camp out by tying their boats together across a narrow section of the river behind my hometown. Then they made the mistake of inviting our friend Mike Mike (nicknamed Blue) could be a little...quirky. If he went camping out, he often got scared in the middle of the night and decided to go home. On this particular night, that happened again. Only this time, Mike didn't want to leave his boat and the rest of the guys (who were asleep at the time) had used a single rope to connect their boats. After Mike untied the rope and left with his boat, the other three guys started quietly floating down the river. They all woke up alone at various points along the river the next morning, with no idea where they were or how they got there. (though they did all suspect that Mike had something to do with it) -

Kris Richard is now a free agent With that done, even if they were to hire a different DC, they could still bring Richard aboard as a DB coach or something else. -

And after that, a reliable backup.

Re: Ejiro Evero -
Not exactly coaching news, but... The Chargers comment is true. Beathard built the 72 Dolphins. Unfortunately, our biggest connection to him is that he mentored Marty Hurney

He's not wrong

If you're just talking about a bridge guy, and one who knows Reich's system, it's not a bad idea.
-
Despite the thread title, the actual topic pertains to a quarterback who's behind us.
-
It wouldn't be surprising to see Staley named OC. It also wouldn't be surprising if whomever gets that job winds up being an Andy Reid style OC while Reich runs the offense himself.

For the unfamiliar, George Paton's last name is pronounced "payton'.

Smith would know...

Nobody cares how David Tepper spends his money. People just dislike Matt Rhule and don't take this story all that seriously.
-
Friggin? I definitely get the impression quotes we get from practice next year are going to be more...interesting than they were with Matt Rhule. Bring back Brian Baker to coach the defensive line and you've got potentially the best season of Hard Knocks ever

You and John drinking from the same bottle today?

Thanks for proving my point

Your sound as though you've got some experience in this area
-
From what I've seen, I'd say he might be a better quarterback coach than offensive coordinator.
-
You'll have to pardon me if I have a few questions about your judgment regarding football matters

There was word that the Cowboys were going to try and poach James Campen. Solari's pretty good too though...

Also from the Reich profile thread... Duce Staley: Speaking of offenses people would like to steal from, the Lions. Word was the Panthers wanted to steal the guy who ran that offense for their head coaching spot, but Ben Johnson backed out. If you can’t steal Johnson though, maybe you can get one of his assistants. Perhaps even one who also happens to have worked with Frank Reich before in former Eagles player and coach Duce Staley. Sure, why not? The tricky part here though is that Staley currently has an “Assistant Head Coach” title in Detroit. Would that complicate things? Don’t know, but it’s possible.

That explains the "how" Heh Jim Bob Cooter: Yep, he worked with Reich too (I mean, who hasn’t?) Specifically, as an offensive assistant with the Colts from 2009 to 2011. He’s the passing game coordinator for the Jags at the moment under former Reich teammate Doug Pederson. And heck, some fans want him on our staff for his name alone. Also just for the record, our former ST Coach Heath Farwell is on Pederson’s Jacksonville staff as well, along with our old buddy Brentson Buckner.

I think the rules changed a little while back, but even if not I'm pretty sure it would depend primarily on his contract status. If his Lions contract is expired, he can go anywhere and do anything he wants.
