  1. One thing I vividly remember from this offseason was just how much Fitterer talked about the best approach being to draft a quarterback and build around him. He kept doing so right up to draft day. At times it almost felt like he was pleading a case. Really made me wonder what was going on behind the scenes. Heck, right after Corral was drafted (but before the Mayfield trade) he was talking about building around Corral as the future. And then camp happened, preseason happened, injury happened, and here we are.
  2. Dallas also has Tony Pollard on top of Zeke Elliott.
  3. First thing he'll need to do is bounce back from their last game. I prefer guys with more experience, but among the "young offensive minds" set, he and Steichen stand out to me.
  4. That's why I research more than just this year. And the thing about Johnson is how he did it. He spotted something other coaches were missing and knew how to exploit it. That shows the kind of intelligence a head coach should have.
  5. We just hadn't really heard it from other sources till now.
  6. Belichick did it, though that was in a specific situation. To be clear though, it's not an excuse for what happened. It's an explanation why it did. And to be fair, Wilks didn't choose to have PJ on roster. That was Rhule.
  7. Waldron is getting results with Geno Smith. Aside from one game, Johnson is scoring at a near record pace with Jared Goff. As to Rhule, it was mostly media driven buzz. It's definitely not the same.
  8. Johnson (Lions) is a kid from the Carolinas whose childhood / high school years coincided with some good Panther seasons. He's also got all kinds of connections to the area and some to the team, including having worked with Luke Kuechly in college. It wouldn't surprise me if he really wanted the job here and had his agent contact us about it.
  9. The thing about "scouting helmets" is there's typically a reason why it happens. Take Florida State DEs for example. Their system has tended to use undersized "tweener" types who ended up drafted by 4-3 teams and looking bad in that role. Likewise, some schools use a very limited route tree for their wide receivers (actually kinda common these days). As a result, you wind up with super productive college guys who can't understand their pro level assignments. Basically, sometimes there's a reason for those reputations. You have to look deeper.
  10. Something else you have to think about... Trading star players away might benefit Scott Fitterer as long as those trades are for good compensation. But no matter what the compensation is, they serve as a big "screw you" to interim coach Steve Wilks. Wilks has already been told that he'd have to do "an incredible job" to earn the permanent gig. And then you go trade away some of his best players? That'd sure make an interesting story to add to that tanking lawsuit Wilks is part of, wouldn't it?
  11. Something else to consider... Offensive production is down this season. When that happens, you know what the NFL tends to do. If the league winds up making rule changes that favor the offense even more than what they already do, hiring an offensive coach would become an even wiser decision.
  12. The Rams sure as hell don't have the draft picks we'd want, so I wonder what they'd offer.
  13. Fair point. I do think he's a good coach though. I'm not as big a fan of Lynch. Mind you, some say while Lynch has the title, Adam Peters is the real GM when it comes to personnel. That doesn't necessarily speak well of him either.
  14. I've never understood people wanting the team to make certain moves just because it would piss off other fans they have a disagreement with.
  15. I think that would be a huge mistake. Moving on from Lynch? That I could see. What they gave up to move up and get Trey Lance is really biting them on the ass right now. The move for Carson Wentz last year didn't exactly help Chris Ballard either.
  16. He'd be going from an E-P to a Shanahan type WCO. Some common concepts but the terminology would likely be way more complicated. Really smart head coach though. Can never discount that.
  17. Has been coaching in the NFL since 2008. Didn't work directly with Fitterer or Morgan but they would certainly have common acquaintances among the Seahawks staff.
