Speaking of quarterbacks saying dumb things...

Coaching success is a mixture of things. First off, you have to be a leader. I don't think anybody doubts Wilks is that. Players respond to him like you hope players would. The second thing you need is the mind of a chess master when it comes to strategy and planning. Does Wilks have that? Don't know. But if he doesn't, he can make up for it by having a good eye for staffing. One of the reasons Sean McDermott has been so good is that he built a killer staff. Can Wilks do the same? So basically, he's got the leadership part down. Whether he can also be the chess master or the staff builder is yet to be seen, but those things are necessary if he wants to be a winner.

Of the remaining coaches, the two guys who have the longest work history with Rhule are linebacker coach Mike Siravo and strength and conditioning coach Jeremy Scott. Both were with Rhule at Temple and Baylor before following him to Carolina. The guy with the deepest personal connection is runningbacks coach Jeff Nixon. He and Rhule were high school teammates and have been close friends ever since. Beyond that, tight ends coach Kevin M Gilbride and passing game coordinator Matt Lombardi each have a few years of pre-Carolina experience with him. Quarterback Coach Sean Ryan has one, but I don't know how deep those ties are. Siravo and Scott leaving would be no shock. Nixon too, though he's got a legit NFL resumé (one of the few Rhule guys who can say that). And of course, most of the lower level assistants are Rhule's people. Guess we'll see who else jumps.

Looks like it is. And the guy he responded to is basically nobody. That's a really bad look.

If we're keeping Fitterer (and all indications are that's what's happening) he's a "draft and build" guy. Plus word is that Jackson wants a fully guaranteed contract. Tepper balked at that for Watson.

That was the start of a lot of it, but not the sum of it.

Did the Ravens really "smoke" us, though?

There were stories of some pretty big locker room divisions during his time there. They've been largely validated since. Hell, even Pete Carroll took some subtle shots at him.

Here's some info I gathered a while back, LP... Researching Ben Johnson Grew up in NC and has loads of Carolina connections. Wouldn't surprise me to find out he was a huge Panther fan growing up.

Seriously doubt he'd replace Holcomb or Tabor. Not absolutely convinced he'd replace McAdoo but I could see that as possible.

It'd all depend on his offensive staff.
