The more that comes out. The more it shows how deep the issues are
Mr. Scot replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know that the Jack Easterby comparisons are fair. Drummond doesn't seem to be that kind of personality. Now with that said, if Tepper is looking for advice on anything football related, Drummond isn't really qualified to give it. -

He's a former communications guy who Tepper elevated to Vice President of Football Operations. He's also one of the three people responsible for hiring Matt Rhule (Marty Hurney and David Tepper being the other two). -
Fair point. I don't think Tepper is exactly well liked in the fraternity though. Heck, he's no longer even the richest owner.
-
Or he'll blame somebody else
-
To be fair, the league was already pretty pissed with Tepper over the contract he gave Rhule. I think at least some of the owners have started to believe they made the wrong decision letting him in the club.

Remember the Twitter thread about Wilks and Snow arguing?
Mr. Scot replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
The first halfway decent offense we faced that wasn't starting a backup quarterback damn near scored at will pretty much from the first quarter on. For whatever you may think about Wilks, he was right about Snow. -
We all owe Teddy Bridgewater an apology
Mr. Scot replied to ENC Pantherfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
And that's the thing... For the folks who think it's too strong to say we owe him an apology, okay but I'd still say we at least need to acknowledge that he was right. -
I get the Easterby comparisons in the sense of undue influence by someone who doesn't really have a football background. But with that said, I don't really think Steven Drummond has a Jack Easterby kind of personality. As others have said, the true problem is Tepper. He's already shown a tendency to trust the wrong people, and it sounds like that still has yet to change.

My guess would be because Bridgewater probably didn't buy his college bullsh-t. If you think back, there was evidence of that in his pressers. -
That's pure Panther fan thinking with no evidence to support it. Tepper has no more attachment to Morgan than he did to Newton. It also ignores that Morgan came here to work with Fitterer. He considers Fitterer his scouting mentor.

Person: Rhule ran the team at times "like his personal kingdom"
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
My guess: He believed he could do it. Hell, he probably thought he was. That might be why when the losing happened this season, he started to look like he was losing control. And yeah, I think he probably planned to make "The Brand" the franchise slogan. -
Background : Drummond was part of the search that netted Rhule despite, as mentioned, having no real football background. He's currently listed as Vice President of Football Operations.

Well, we now know he took full control of that search, so... -

People leaking previously undisclosed revelations after a control freak gets fired surprises you? Wow -

Yeah, gotta figure the tight lid on camp media was from Rhule. And I'm now more convinced than I was yesterday that the attempt to downplay "keep pounding" came from him as well. -
From the article: He at times treated the Panthers franchise like his own personal kingdom. Rhule — like a lot of other college coaches who made the jump to the NFL — wanted his hands in every part of the organization, from the training room and personnel department to the digital media team. Regarding the failure to land a franchise quarterback: Not that he didn’t try. The way he cycled through Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold and finally Baker Mayfield, it was as if Rhule was starting a collection of journeyman QBs. The Panthers also made unsuccessful runs at Matthew Stafford and Deshaun Watson. Getting one of those guys would have changed the direction of the franchise and — in the case of Watson — its reputation as well. And though Rhule directed the annual QB chase, he had others signing off on the pursuit — from former offensive coordinator Joe Brady (who lobbied for Bridgewater) to general manager Scott Fitterer (who signed off on the trades for Darnold and Mayfield) to owner David Tepper, who stroked the checks.

That’s not unusual for college coaches. But at the pro level, yeah. I mean, do you think Bill Belichick checks what’s on the team’s Twitter feed?
-
This is why...
-
One potential option if you're looking at some of his old colleagues... Rob Chudzinski
-
Huge difference... Scott Fitterer has over twenty years of experience as a personnel guy, and that as part of a successful organization. Marty Hurney had none.
