Another key Carolina Panthers executive leaves Tepper Sports
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Scott Fowler weighs in... FYI: This is a free column, no paywall. -
I'm looking forward to seeing how Michael Oher can help our offensive line myself

What happens if they don't?

Whatever's synonymous with "think he's a terrible owner". No personal feelings involved... -

I've never openly stated any such thing. I think both of them are terrible at their jobs, but as I've stated many times being terrible at your job is not a reason to hate someone. -

Ah yes, the "you just hate them" argument. Congrats. You've managed to place yourself on par with Sizzlebuzz. As far as how your arguments read, pretty sure I'm not the only one interpreting it as defending Tepper. But I suppose you'll say the others just "hate" him as well. -

Even if that scenario is true, who made the final decision? For that matter, if Tepper has other people making those decisions, and those people are doing their jobs poorly, it's still ultimately falls on him. He's the guy at the top, so the buck stops at his desk. The bottom line here is that you're strangly looking for some kind of circumstance that absolves Tepper from blame for bad hires. Don't know why, but that's your thing right now. Are you planning to apply the same method to clear Tepper of blame for hiring Matt Rhule? -

You were suggesting that someone other than Tepper hired the respective CEOs of Tepper Sports. It's kind of a silly notion. -

Not exactly hard to find... Panthers owner David Tepper hires Glick as team president Tepper shuffles top execs for Panthers, Charlotte FC Glick was initially hired as Panthers team president and later promoted to CEO of Tepper Sports. When he reportedly "stepped aside to pursue other opportunities", Kelly was named his successor in that role. Given that's the highest official there is at the organization, is there any evidence whatsoever that anyone other than Tepper gave them the job? I mean, if you really wanna pursue an "everybody's fault but Tepper's" argument, you're gonna need at least some small shoestring of evidence? Do you have that? -

Never seen any indication that these were hired by anyone other than Tepper. -

Ugh. He was terrible. Basically embodied the idiot POS frat guy who thinks he's something. -
Mayfield "at an immediate disadvantage" (The 33rd Team)
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Reports were actually that he looked good in OTAs. The reason they said he wouldn't be taking starter reps anymore was because they expected the team to trade for Mayfield. -

Granted, but the trends would tell me that Tepper isn't very good at it. -

He's the one who hired all these guys though. And it's also likely he'd have had to approve at least some of their actions. That scenario doesn't really help Tepper look any better. -

Yeah... Can't go be me though. I'm not the norm. -

As I recall, Hart is the guy we plucked from the Steelers. He was supposed to help get things set up in a similar fashion. Feelings about Tepper aside, it really is starting to look like rats deserting a sinking ship. -

This is getting a tad ridiculous -
We're a long way from "iconic" Changes to uniform aesthetics don't bother me. I could see some level of annoyance if they were changing a longtime logo or something like that (though I thought our logo change was an improvement) but changing a color scheme, moving a stripe, switching a font or some such? Not a big deal to me. Add in that for the moment, it's just one game anyway. Heck, if teams never made changes, Cincinnati would still be stuck with those ugly helmets that had the word "BENGALS" on the side rather than the tiger stripes.

Mayfield "at an immediate disadvantage" (The 33rd Team)
Mr. Scot posted a topic in Carolina Panthers
Basically, an extended discussion of the difficulties a quarterback faces when going to a new team late in the offseason. It's mostly common sense stuff, and admittedly valid. The picture that it paints isn't hopeless though. Tannenbaum does acknowledge that Mayfield could conceivably succeed, even if the current situation is challenging.
