  1. Have already stated it numerous times. Tepper needs to... 1) Fire Matt Rhule 2) Turn over the search for the next coach to either Fitterer and Morgan, an outside consultant like Colbert, or a search group, or basically anybody but David Tepper. 3) Realize he doesn't know jack sh-t about building or running a football team and henceforth sit down and shut up
  2. Most experienced option is McAdoo. Second would be Wilks, then Tabor. If the choice is left to Fitterer and Morgan, I imagine it'll be one of those three. If it's Tepper, who knows what he might pull out of his ass?
  3. Here's part of the Jeremiah segment from the Eisen show: This is not the part that mentions the Panthers, but it's about quarterbacks in general so it's interesting. Regarding the Steelers interest in Willis, there's also this: Previous scuttlebutt had the Steelers being interested in Sam Howell, but now it sounds like Malik Willis might be their guy.
  4. Tepper didn't have to be involved in daily operations to turn the team to sh-t. He did so by hiring a head coach who hadn't even proven capable of beating ranked teams at the college and giving that guy full control while also paying him a ridiculous amount of money. This was an unforgivably stupid move, and Tepper owns it. So far, he's shown himself to be a football moron.
  5. Two things that bother me... First, they smokescreened interest in a quarterback last year. They could be doing something similar this year. And second, that phrase "even if it's a reach" isn't something I like to hear.
  6. Have said it before: If you find yourself in position to ask the question "Is this guy really that stupid?", the vast majority of the time the answer is going to be a resounding "yes".
  7. He doesn't necessarily mean someone within the current staff. The Texans have already said they won't do that. And frankly, if there are teams willing to trade without condition, why should they?
  8. Well, that's because of Tepper and The Horsesh-t Way If Tepper let's somebody else run the team, that might change.
  9. CBS Sports: one critical move each NFL team should make From the article... Carolina Panthers Identify a coach in waiting or at least get some back-channeling going early, because this Matt Rhule experiment has an expiration date around Thanksgiving. Resist the urge to trade for Deshaun Watson without full and complete closure on his legal status. This was written by LaCanfora, if you're wondering.
  10. Prior relationship. Pittsburgh guys like Ed Bouchette, Gerry Dulac, Mark Karboly and others have been talking about back channel conversations between Tepper and Colbert for years. That's why there was so much speculation that Colbert would eventually become Panthers GM. At this point, I don't necessarily think he'd be named GM, but an outside consultant type role is very possible.
  11. Reports are that he would consider working elsewhere, or could take a lesser job with the Steelers. Given his relationship to David Tepper, yes I could see him coming here in a consultant type role.
  12. I'd have been okay with firing Hurney and keeping Rivera. Wasn't a fan of Rivera but I'd have given him one last shot.
  13. FYI: While they may have interviewed half the league, general consensus is they'll end up hiring from within, either Omar Khan or Brandon Hunt.
  14. I'm not in favor of tagging Reddick...unless we were to switch to a 3-4 (which there's no indication we plan to do).
  15. Probably has to do with Gilmore and Jackson both being free agents.
  16. Don't agree with this being a panic move any more than I bought into the notion people suggested last year that he was just insurance in case we missed on one of the draft picks. Hell, if it was a panic move, we might have reason to be more forgiving. But nope. They sat down, discussed it, reviewed the tape and went in eyes wide open, fully believing that they could make this work. I think what they saw is what I characterize as an "every few plays" type quarterback. It's a certain style that tends to be average to mediocre on most downs but occasionally makes a big play. That's basically PJ Walker too, although his "in-between" plays are worse than Darnold's. The "in-betweens" are what you have to fix with a quarterback like that. If you can create some consistency on those while not losing the occasional big play shots, then you've got something. For about three to five games, it looked like they'd been successful at doing that. And then, well... But this is why I always say people shouldn't fall in love with highlight reels. They watch film of a guy making a few spectacular plays and think "wow, we need that guy" when if you actually watched the full game tape, it'd tell you a different story.
  17. It's never a bad or useless thing to improve any spot on your team. We have bigger issues than QB though. As long as we have an incompetent head coach, the Titanic metaphor applies.
