  1. It's been said by one source that he's "a year away from being a year away". Similar comments have come from others
  2. He thought Marty Hurney could handle that part.
  3. If we parted ways with Robby Anderson, I wouldn't exactly be upset. I suspect I'm not alone in this.
  4. Word today that a Miami player has criticized Tagovailoa, saying that they're wasting his career by hanging on to Tua. Wonder why that got out
  5. And the same guy who made last year's bad decisions is now in desperation mode.
  6. FYI: If you're not familiar with them, The 33rd Team is a group of former coaches and personnel guys that cover the game. They're a good follow. I'd throw in that if you're interested in OL related stuff, you might like Brandon Thorn and his "Trench Warfare" thoughts.
  7. Carolina Panthers Free Agency Preview (The 33rd Team) Key points... Carolina’s Impending Free Agents: CB Stephon Gilmore C Matt Paradis QB Cam Newton EDGE Haason Reddick IDL DaQuan Jones S Juston Burris RT Trenton Scott CB Donte Jackson RG John Miller LB Julian Stanford CB Rashaan Melvin RB Ameer Abdullah WR Alex Erickson P Lachlan Edwards K Zane Gonzalez S Sean Chandler WR Brandon Zylstra TE Ian Thomas EDGE Marquis Haynes LB Jermaine Carter Jr. IDL Mike Panasiuk (ERFA) Potential Franchise Tag Candidates: EDGE Haason Reddick (expected $20.186 M) Top Team Needs: Quarterback Entire Offensive Line, except right tackle Cornerback WR Depth The biggest need for the Panthers this offseason is the signal caller under center. Sam Darnold did a decent job the first few games of the year, but he quickly fell back into his old habits, while Cam Newton and P.J. Walker just could not put sustainable drives together at the latter end of the year. Carolina may be willing to work with Darnold for one more season, but it may be just as a bridge for a younger QB. Aside from quarterback, the Panthers need help all along the offensive line, aside from right tackle Taylor Moton, with two starters as free agents this offseason and an incumbent left tackle and left guard who should not be counted on for the foreseeable future. With both Stephon Gilmore and Donte Jackson as free agents and Jaycee Horn coming off of a season-ending foot injury, the Panthers could look to expand their cornerback depth, especially if they cannot retain Jackson and/or Gilmore. Lastly, Carolina’s wide receiver group was inconsistent last year with D.J. Moore garnering a lot of targets, especially at the beginning of the year. Once teams started to key in on Moore, the offense stalled and did not have their star running back to bail them out in crucial downs. Look for Carolina to add more pieces in that group in order to be able to spread the ball around more this upcoming season.
  8. One of them might not be leaving... This is not necessarily bad news for us.
  9. We were expecting this year to have loads of cap space too, and we did before free agency and dead cap took it away. Now, we have a head coach who's desperate to save his job and has full power to do whatever he wants. If you think we're likely to go into next season with anything close to the cap (or draft capital) we have now, I have some bad news for you.
  10. It'd take about five of those ten years at least to be able to build anything, and that's assuming he doesn't get hurt behind the sh-tty O-lines we'd be trotting him out behind before that. It's just not realistic.
  11. With the roster we have now, the offensive line we have now, the cap room we have now, the head coach we have now and what we'd have to give up to get him, this notion is pure fantasy. This isn't Madden.
  12. You could make an argument that what Houston is asking is a fair price for a franchise quarterback. That said, I still wouldn't pay it.
  13. I think there are folks here who believe this is actually possible.
  14. For a guy with his legal issues, approximately not a damn thing.
  15. Typical conversation with my grandson, age eight... I want that. We can't afford that I still want it. It wouldn't be a good idea. I still want it!!! The conversations with adults who want Watson on this forum follow pretty much the same pattern.
  16. They've already put out what they want, and it's been discussed in this thread.
  17. Nothing close to what they want. What I would offer, they wouldn't accept.
  18. We already don't have anywhere near enough ammo to get him without severely mortgaging our future. If the charges jare dropped, that price goes up even further, potentially way up. Yes, we'd have a franchise quarterback. Also a sh-tty team around him, our best draft picks gone for years, no cap room to sign free agents plus Matt Rhule as a head coach. That is not a path to a winning team.
  19. My eight year old grandson wants what he wants without any thought to cost, effort required or circumstances. Sadly, we've got adults on here who think the same way about franchise quarterbacks.
  20. You get that we can't just add him without giving up significant resources, right? Our team is way more than just a quarterback away. And giving up those things (plus the cap) makes it infinitely harder to build a good team around him. Plus if you do that before his legal issues are resolved, you risk giving those things up for nothing.
  21. If the charges are dropped, multiple bidders will drive the price up. If the charges stick, why would you want him?
  22. Our defense isn't as good as you think it is. To add to that, we'd possibly have to include one of our top defensive players in a trade offer, making it even worse.
