  1. I'm the least sentimental person you'll find when it comes to football... ...but that was bullsh-t.
  2. Not even sending Newton out for a final play? (and that in a situation where it would have made perfect sense?) Damn
  3. I remember a comedy show about a bad football team where they came off the field chanting "two points, two points". After they stopped, the coach said "Great game, guys! We only lost by two points." I feel like that's about where we are now.
  4. I don't give a sh-t about sentimentality but this game has been over for a while and it's not like it's making a difference anyway. Why not just send Newton out to say goodbye?
  5. Hearing that he may retire. Bears look to be firing Nagy but might also fire Pace.
  6. With good reason. Unfortunately, Tepper and Rhule aren't any better.
  7. I don't care who the quarterback is if Matt Rhule is the coach.
  8. FYI: Being reported the Giants are not firing Joe Judge.
  9. Why do you care regardless of who's playing quarterback? Under Rhule, this team is just inept all over.
  10. A big part of the reason they "have more chances" is that we can't get them off the field on third down. Giving up an eleven yard first down run to a forty-plus year old quarterback doesn't exactly say good things either.
  11. The offense is bad, but it's way too early in the half to blame anything on fatigue. The reality is we built a defense primarily geared to stop the pass and in the process formed a unit not only highly susceptible to the run, but also not terribly effective against elite passers. Losing some of our better players to injury and other things didn't help. Bottom Line: They're just not really that good.
  12. Same reason they have workouts. But the most successful coaches and personnel people invariably tell you that game tape is far more valuable. Giving too much credence to The Combine is how you draft guys like Mike Mamula.
  13. There's more to that story than just the stats.
  14. Turnovers are just one example. There are a million variables in any given football game. That's why I don't like to go by stats. I prefer to judge by what I see. If scouting were as simple as checking a stat sheet, anyone could do it.
  15. I shouldn't take you at your own word? Okay Again, the draft profiles I read on Christensen had him rated as a backup, and not strictly based on measurables. As far as why he "fell" (which I'm not sure is accurate anyway given that he was drafted about where a lot of people projected him) that's something only the teams know. We can make assumptions, but we don't really know. What we do know is that besides Stratton, there are more than a few NFL analysts who think Matt Rhule's comments about Brady Christensen are basically dopey and provide evidence that he doesn't know what he's doing. But defend away if it's what you wish...
