TPS Graded All 31 First Rounders from 2023
Mr. Scot replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
Does this thread qualify as a TPS report? (I don't see the new cover sheet) -
Saw this elsewhere...

I remember some of my research regarding Dodds during the last cycle. The thing that stuck out the most was that he insisted on absolute control, no interference from anybody. Wasn't hard to figure out why he declined the chance to work with Matt Rhule.
-
That list right now pretty much only consists of Kelly and Ed Dodds
-
Pretty much. I've said before the least effective way to convince me you're smart is to tell me you are.
-
Okay, sure

And now this... I think I just heard ominous music playing

Oh sure, now you start blocking everybody

Pretty much. Also don't doubt he'd say stuff that was pure bullsh-t if he thought it'd make him look better.

Hell, he admitted that much after the Rhule disaater (said he thought he was gonna show everybody how it was done) but he also claimed he'd learned his lesson. (Morgan Freeman Voice: "He had not, in fact, learned a damn thing)

Don't think Leak was around, but I know we followed it pretty heavily as it was happening. Fitterer wasn't part of the original group. He and one other (Khan, I think) were tacked on at the end. Peters technically made it to round two but the 49ers gave him a raise and a new title (Assistant GM) to come back

Sadly, this is most definitely a non-Panthers thread so it must be the offseason Anyway...

The emphasis on analytics guys among our GM candidates isn't encouraging me
-
Don't think so. You might be mixing him up with Brandt Tilis.

Head Coach Preference as of January 12th
Mr. Scot replied to Evil Hurney's topic in Carolina Panthers
Ben Johnson and Frank Smith would still be my top choices. -
Granted that's a possibility, but with that also be true in the other cases referenced?
-
Pretty sure we didn't. Borgonzi hasn't ever interviewed here that I've seen. There's a theme here though when you look at the people we want to interview over the people we're ignoring. In Kansas City, Brandt Tilis over Mike Borgonzi... In Baltimore, Nick Matteo over Joe Hortiz... In Detroit, Mike Disner over Ray Agnew... The cap management / analytics expert thing seems to be the common thread, and I'm not a fan of it. Only thing I can figure is maybe David Tepper wants somebody who does things closer to his way as opposed to guys who are experts in something he has no clue about.

Entered into this discussion elsewhere, but I'll ask the same question here: Anyone know why in the hell we're not trying to interview Mike Borgonzi? We contacted the Chiefs about Brandt Tilis, but not their Assistant GM?
