Tryin’ to make a roster out of Fitty cents (A Horn and a tackle)

I'm guessing you really are new. For those of us who have been here a while, this is familiar -
Have you ever seen someone get hit by a truck?

Ouch. But apparently he throws the ball really well -

The current regime's "entire body of work" consists of one free agency period and a draft. We have no idea what their on-field product looks like yet. -
From what I've read, it seems to be the same dynamic that existed between Richardson and Marty. Loyalty. That, plus apparently Roseman doesn't mind letting Lurie make draft picks for him.

I'm predictable

I actually hope Drew Brees is very happy with his retirement. I know I am -
I was wondering if we had any connections with Leno here, so I looked it up. The Bears OL coach during his rookie year was current Panthers line coach Pat Meyer.

Brady Christensen vs Bucs 1st rd pick Joe Tryon

Out of curiosity, who did you plagiarize that analysis from? -
Kind of an interesting tidbit here in McLane's article... Roseman is known for going rogue on draft day. The scouts and the personnel people will have the next guy up on their draft board ready to go, and he'll just suddenly pick somebody else. (speculation is that it's actually owner Jeffrey Lurie making those picks and Roseman is covering for him, but nobody can say for sure) As you can imagine, this frustrates the hell out of the scouting staff and it's been cited as the cause for some of the team's worst picks in recent years. One of those cases happened last year. The scouts had a particular player pulled up as the next guy on their draft board, but Roseman shooed it away and "went big" as McLane puts it, by choosing quarterback Jalen Hurts instead. So who did the Eagles scouts have teed up on the board? Southern Illinois DB Jeremy Chinn. (thanks, Howie)

Panthers interviewing Morgan, others for Assistant GM job

Understood. -
Have heard some folks say Doug Pederson deserves the lion's share of the credit for that, but he and Lurie didn't see eye to eye. I've said before that Howie Roseman is the Eagles version of Marty Hurney, but unlike what happened to us, it doesn't look like anything is going to save Eagles fans from his being the "GM for life" that Richardson wanted Marty to be. Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane put together a "deep dive' article about him a while back.

Just so I'm clear, what's your opinion of Marty Hurney again? -
Switched to BLESTO back in 2014. We still have a BLESTO scout on staff. If I recall correctly, BLESTO is the service that's used by the majority of NFL teams. There's an article discussing the differences between BLESTO and National Scouting here.

I don't really think the Packers are going to trade Rodgers either. As always of course, I'll grant that anything can happen.
-
And I still don't think so. But could the Packers benefit from having one actual person in charge right now? It's possible.

For those who saw the video, some context is now emerging.

Luke Kuechly has resigned from the Panthers scouting staff
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
He resigned long before their draft board was even ready. -
A couple of people have pointed out that the Packers not having a traditional owner is something that kind of hurts them in regard to the issue with Rodgers. There's not a guy who can just step in, put his foot down and say "this is what we're going to do".
-
I've seen speculation of them getting Watson too. Not so sure I'd bet on either of those things happening, but hey...
-
We take a tackle, which I guess means they think our current line won't cut it. I'd very much like for them to be wrong about that.
-
Is Miller still all that good though? My impression from recent seasons is not so much.
-
At least for now, almost everybody's still on staff. That's par for the course when a new GM is hired. Once that first draft is over though, anything can happen.
