If I were making a guess regarding this season, I'd say the Panthers probably don't pay him any money at all. Davis may have still been the technical starter, but the Panthers were pretty much running back by committee in the latter part of last year. The whole "we can replace McCaffrey with Davis" narrative wound up looking pretty silly. He's just not suited to carry a starter's workload.

Pretty sure Ryan's contract makes that damn near impossible.

Right now. Right now, Teddy Bridgewater is the starter for the Panthers. Neither of those things is guaranteed to still be true as of week one.

That's...not guaranteed. He may well be, but pretty much everyone acknowledges that the Patriots are still looking around at the quarterback position.
