(Lady Cowboy Fan and I are approaching this status)

Fair enough. Fairly certain David and Goliath references are on their way as well.

Kinda like this guy... (truthfully I could probably post pictures of several of our staff members and it still be valid)

You'd have to hope it works out better than this cover did...

Thomas Davis on Bryce Young and the Panthers Draft
Mr. Scot replied to poundaway's topic in Carolina Panthers
Morgan's pic was in response to your mention of players with no injury history. It's valid that injuries are damn near impossible to predict. That's why I don't necessarily think it's fair to call someone whose career was derailed by injuries "a bust". -
I foresee the "Tiny Titan" graphics from Madden getting applied to Young.

Lady Cowboy Fan is a nurse. Judging from my personal dealings with her, I believe she'd probably make a pretty good cop too Also think she'd make a good French maid, naughty schoolgirl, Farmer's daughter and a few other things depending on what's available at 3wishes.com, but that's another discussion.

No one should take this as a knock on Young's intelligence (though someone probably will) But I do think you kinda have to take into account the fact that he was taking this test on an annual basis from high school forward. The guys who created the test might say that doesn't matter, but they sorta have a vested interest.

The length of Cam Newton's career vs the length of Tom Brady's career reinforces the notion that being bigger isn't everything. And that's what's been said with regard to Young. Hell, I've pointed out myself before that mobility isn't the best defense against getting hit. Fast processing is. Lord knows Young has that. Inevitably though, he is going to be hit. That's where I cringe. Just have to hope he's both smart enough and durable enough to minimize the damage. Lord knows he'll have a coaching staff that can help him in that area.

Several years of this sort of thing soon to come, I expect

No, and I'm not saying we should necessarily pass on Young. It's something that you have to factor into the decision though. -

I grant that everybody has durability concerns, but at the same time could you honestly say you'd be more worried about Terrell Owens taking a hit than you would Tutu Atwell? And yes, all defenses are going to try to hit the quarterback. But again, hitting Bryce Young isn't quite the same as hitting Cam Newton. Plus you have to figure the dirty ones are gonna go a little harder.

Heh I agree with the point. With that said though, there's a reason why Chris Simms spends his time talking to Mike Florio rather than quarterbacking on a football field. The durability concerns are most definitely real. -
I think of "football intelligence" as kind of a skill set. A guy like Gronkowski comes off dumb as a brick but he knew his football well enough. Processing speed is a pretty big deal too. I know people that could probably solve just about any problem given enough time. If something has to be solved within like three minutes or so though, they're probably gonna fail.
