Former Panthers scout / VP of Player Personnel / acting GM Ryan Cowden gets passed over. Wonder If he'd return here in some capacity.
-
Especially after he said he wouldn't, but hey...
-
That already happened. We were the ones that did it.
-
It isn't.

Vic Fangio, Brian Daboll and a new approach to staff building
Mr. Scot replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
In a similar vein from The 33rd Team, original Panthers GM Bill Polian talks about the head coaching interview process Quote that caught my attention from the article... The combination of the Rooney Rule requirements and the high turnover rate among head coaches every year usually results in a high number (10 or so) of initial interviewees. If, however, you have more than five finalists, including the Rooney Rule candidates, you probably have not done a good enough job in the initial screening process. To quote coach Marv Levy, “If you have too many, you don’t have any.” -
What do you mean?

It's not so much a question to me of what if they'd have gone their separate ways. It's more a point of what they did, they did together. Are you positive you count on one or the other of them being able to do it on their own? I'm not.

Word is he offered to pay them Tuesday for a hamburger today but then didn't follow through...

Meanwhile in Washington... Rivera had the chance to hire Shurmur in Carolina but went with Mike Shula instead.

Brees and Payton absolutely complemented each other. Doesn't necessarily mean one made the other, but it was the combo of the two of them more than it was either individual. That does, however, mean that you'd be counting on Payton to do it again here without someone like Brees. For an example of how that could turn out, how are things going in New England right now?

Jonathan Jones confirmed we weren't interested in Harbaugh. Guess nobody else was interested enough to suit him either.

There was a story from some obscure source a while back that painted Stephen Drummond as our version of Jack Easterby and said Drummond was going to manipulate Tepper into hiring Leftwich. Obviously, that story's not looking too credible right now.
