Commanders just scored to tie the game, but needed an extra point from Joey Slye. He succeeded, but I have to imagine a lot of people were gritting their teeth during the kick.
-
That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. It's certainly not his fault that he had a lousy coach to start off with, but it does make his path to success just a little bit harder.
-
I don't know enough about UNC to know who those guys are.

To be fair, what Fields is doing right now isn't something you can sustain long term. He's going to need to prove he can be a way more consistent passer, especially at clutch time. As to the others, I don't know that Stroud would succeed with a defensive coach. Young might, but you've still got the issue that you absolutely have to protect him.

I gotta see who we get as a head coach first.

Broncos-Ravens is a close game That's what they're historically known for but they haven't had anything special on that side of the ball for a while. Remember not long ago, Khalil Mack was supposed to bring them back to being Monsters of the Midway again.

There's a pretty significant amount of evidence available that Steve Keim is a lousy GM. There's a season and a half worth of tape out there on Steve Wilks that to this point is still inconclusive. In order for me to want to hire somebody though, they've got a convince me of something. I can't say Wilks has done that just yet. He still has time...

Followed by a missed field goal. Bears-Packers has certainly gotten to be a more interesting game.

Don't know. This could be pure speculation. It's hard to imagine he'd look at that option unless he felt he were absolutely done as a player. We haven't really gotten any kind of confirmation that he feels that way just yet

Report: Teams are doing homework on Jim Harbaugh
Mr. Scot replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
One of the biggest things we always worry about with a head coach is losing the locker room. Surprisingly, even Rhule didn't lose the Panthers locker room. Harbaugh lost the 49ers. You don't have to be likable, but you do have to be able to lead guys and retain their loyalty. It's pretty clear Wilks can do that. Where my questions lie is whether he can do the kind of strategy and game planning needed in this era of crazy offense, or whether he can hire the right staff. Both of those things are absolutely essential. -
Broncos-Ravens looks like a real barn burner
-
He'd probably be out of football if his development had been left to Rhule's Panther staff.

Could Newton follow in Deion's footsteps...
-
That pass couldn't have been placed much better.
-
Man what an amazing touchdown from Hurts to Brown...
-
Houston is trying really hard to prove that they can suck even more ass. So far they seem to be succeeding

Lawrence back in... Edit: and very nearly picked

Mine was worded better

Uuiihhh, no. Not even close. College kids vs grown men... -
To be fair (which I admittedly really hate to be with Watson right now) this is his first game back after a long long time off. It's possible he gets better. It's also possible he continues to suck. (and I won't exactly be broken up about it if that's what happens)

And Matt Rhule was successful at building two different college programs. Heck, might be a third if he's successful at Nebraska. -

Actually not, personality wise. Remember we had the story about how Rhule's DL guy thought he was going to be fired during his first game as a coach. That's the kind of guy he was. I know some people think that just because a guy is a hard ass, he's going to be a winner. That's no more true than the idea of it just because he was successful somewhere else he'll automatically be successful here. -

I wouldn't count on that. -

Joe Gibbs was a proven success too. How'd he do in his return? Same question for Jimmy Johnson in Miami, Bill Parcells anywhere after his first Super Bowl and others. The notion that just because somebody had success in one place they're automatically going to succeed elsewhere has been disproven time and time again. Start with that, and then factor in other things. You've gotta look deeper than a guy just being a big name. As to Hackett, Yeah he did nothing like I (or anyone else really) expected him to do. Then he and Paton had themselves to another "proven success" in Russell Wilson. How'd that turn out?
