Balance and body control, which is definitely impressive for a guy that large. It primarily means that he'll have a good solid base while he's punching you in the head
-
I vaguely remember Kilmer and Jurgenson. Pretty sure Jurgenson was nearing the end of his career when I started watching. Kilmer was around a little longer.
-
Technically he was (Auburn, if I recall correctly). He chose to transfer to Liberty after not winning the starting job there.

Doesn't bother me, honestly. I'm not really interested in quarterback 40 times.

They came closer to making the playoffs last year than we did. -
No one from Seattle? The others I get because they all have quarterbacks, but the Seahawks not being there is weird.
-
I'm less sure about Murray, especially after that playoff disaster and his quote about not needing to watch film.
-
Who's arguing? We're talking about running quarterbacks vs dual threat quarterbacks. It's a very civil discussion and nobody's angry.
-
I've put it this way before... Can run and pass = Gold Can pass = Silver Can run but not pass = Fool's Gold

The past doesn't really matter. Objectively speaking, Cleveland is way closer to being a Super Bowl team then we are right now. He's not wrong about that. -

And that after basically chasing him for a year. It's all pretty embarrassing. -
As far as ability, Rodgers is one of the most phenomenal quarterbacks I've ever seen. He is also a colossal a--hole.
-
I don't like the term "running" or "rushing" quarterback because I associate that with quarterbacks who can only threaten you with their legs and not their arms. Elway, Young and Staubach were true dual threat quarterbacks. Wilson I would consider a pretty capable runner but as someone else mentioned, most of his running is done to set up a pass. Montana? I'd probably consider him about as much of a rushing threat as Jake Delhomme, but even Delhomme and our own Sam Darnold have shown they can rush from time to time.

Nothing against Drummond but I'm not sure why he'd be at a pro day other than to just watch. He doesn't have a scouting background. Okay, one thing against him. He was part of the group that decided to hire Matt Rhule

I place the primary blame for Super Bowl 50 on coaching. For one, despite the lesson that the Falcons had taught us just a few weeks before, Rivera decided not to change anything or throw any new wrinkles in. That was dumb. Second, and this is absolutely insane, the story came out not that long ago that Rivera actually did tell somebody to get Mike Remmers some help, but nobody ever did. How the hell does that happen? Eh, I should probably stop talking about it because this is a sore spot

Said it elsewhere, and have said many times, Newton is a Brett Favre level passer. John Elway compares too. All three guys had general vicinity accuracy and some level of inconsistency. You could see them throw a pass that looked laser accurate on one play, then throw one that would miss the broad side of a barn the next. Whether or not they won games depended on which type of pass they threw more. I've sometimes referred to them as OMG / WTF passers because some passes made you say OMG and others made you say WTF And yes, you can win with guys like that if you build around them properly. All three made Super Bowls and two of them won championships (Elway won two).
-
Wonder if Rhule will take a chance to catch up. "Hey man, good to see ya. Sorry about getting you fired."
-
It depends on whether you're a quarterback who can run and pass or you're a quarterback who can run and maybe kinda sorta pass. Guys with all world running ability but poor to mediocre passing ability don't win in the NFL.
-
Steve Young did. As far as dual threats, I still consider him the best of the bunch. To be a successful quarterback in the NFL, these four things are non-negotiable... - Football intelligence - The ability to read a defense - The ability to process quickly - Good passing accuracy If you can also run or have great athleticism, that's a bonus but it's not an absolute need. So if you're looking at a running quarterback, what you have to check is whether he has those four traits. If he does, great. If he doesn't, all the running in the world isn't going to make up for it.
-
Not so sure of that. The universal read on Willis is that he's not NFL ready and won't be for at least a year or so. It's not that he isn't smart. It's just that he hasn't developed the tools he'll need just yet. And I wouldn't want to be compared to Mike Vick. Vick was certainly fun to watch, but he wasn't a good enough passer to win when it counted. Guys like Vick produce a lot of highlight reels, but not championships. Newton was definitely a better passer. He was Brett Favre level as far as accuracy. Favre won a championship. Newton came close.
-
Not really... Running quarterbacks have been around way longer than people think. Fran Tarkenton is the earliest one I can remember watching, but there was also Roger Staubach, John Elway and others. Having watched those guys, I always get a chuckle when people act like mobile quarterbacks are some new trend.

There's an old saying that you win by doing what others won't. If we're talking about hard work, that's a good thing. Other times, not so much -

Story was that he eliminated us shortly after finding out we wouldn't guarantee the contract. Seems like that was the only thing that might have drawn him here. -
Good find. I'd wonder if Campen was there but it could have been just a scout.
