I'd rather they both defer to James Campen -
REPORT: Panthers are not interested in Baker Mayfield
Mr. Scot replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Confirmed (both ways) -
It's on his Liberty bio.
-
I'm gonna guess the same crew. Mind you, I didn't see Sean Ryan's name mentioned anywhere today, but he still might have been there.
-
It's also a misdemeanor. (depending on the amount)
-
We were in on La'el Collins and there's chatter that we've talked to Duane Brown. It's possible they could have a deal in principle with some team or player but might not actually finalize it until after the draft. That'd be smart because then nobody would be clued in to what we're taking.

REPORT: Panthers are not interested in Baker Mayfield

Don't think they ever were. "Preliminary talks" are very common. Sometimes they don't lead to anything. Sometimes they even lead to saying "nah". -
I'm pretty firm on wanting one of those big tackles in this year's draft. Kinda doubt anybody's pro day is gonna move me off that stance. (I'm definitely not alone in this either)
-
Or somebody else's?
-
Is Watson still "illustrious company"? (or is it more "infamous" at this point?)
-
Tomorrow we'll find out there's a lot to love about Matt Corral. There's chatter that the 49ers may be starting to question whether Lance was the right choice. They expected to have him coached up by now, but the comments I've seen have described him as being "a year away from being a year away".
-
Yep. I'd add one thing. I think Favre probably beats Elway as far as strongest arm. A couple of receivers ended up with broken fingers catching his passes.
-
No. Dareus had some mental issues that came up prior to the draft that threw up great big red flags. I never really settled on who I wanted that year other than that I didn't want to take any of the quarterbacks.
-
Nobody is Manning. But who's been the most successful quarterback in the league, even into his late 30s? Brady. And yes, it is possible to replicate the kinds of things he did. I would agree that quarterbacks these days are more athletic than they used to be, but so is every other position in the NFL. You didn't used to have offensive and defensive linemen that were as athletic as the guys today either. But like always, as a quarterback uou've got to be able to make the reads and throw the ball to the right spot. If you can't do yhose things, no amount of athleticism is going to make up for it.
-
Same. But if we sign one of the free agents, I'll expect a quarterback.
-
I preferred McNair to Collins. Wasn't high on Newton. Loved the idea of Herbert. Didn't know enough about Mahomes because I didn't think we were taking a quarterback that year. For the record, I don't want Pickett either. I don't want a quarterback in this draft at all.
-
I can't think of a quarterback who didn't look great at his pro day.
-
Physical ability? Yeah. But that's not what wins in the NFL. You have to be able to read defenses and process the information quickly. It also doesn't matter if you can throw the ball a mile. What matters is whether or not you can throw it to a particular spot. This is where Ellis and I disagree. He likes the idea of taking physical specimens and trying to teach them the other stuff. I don't. I want the guys who show they can handle the other stuff first. If they're also physical specimens, fine. If not, don't really care. This is also why I don't put a whole lot of stock into pro days or workouts in general. As has been said by many, anyone can look good in those situations. It's the game tape that really tells the story.
-
Rhule wants a run heavy offense.
-
I've seen him mocked to us at 6. Don't know if that's realistic or not.
-
When they put him in the booth on on Sunday Night Football he was a prick to the other guys.

Observation: Panthers want to Draft a QB but...
Mr. Scot replied to Doc Holiday's topic in Carolina Panthers
General consensus is that it's no longer "my way or the highway" with him. He's actually choosing to (or being forced to) listen to other voices in the building. But technically at least he still has final say, and could use it when it comes time for the draft. -
I dunno anymore
