  1. But did they significantly outpace the guys in the 3rd round or later? The only one in recent memory to do that is Henry. Furthermore, not a single one of those guys has sniffed a championship. That's really more the point. The track record of top RB's or top PAID RB's getting to championships is quite bad. There is a reason for that.
  2. @Mr. Scot I told you. This was the only job that really made sense.
  3. True. The infuriating thing is he is such a talented player that you want to find a way to use him effectively.
  4. Maybe but the pendulum is starting to swing a little towards more rushing based attacks(typical cyclical NFL). In that world he doesn't fit at LB unless he bulks up quite a bit. He isn't that different than someone like Isaiah Simmons in terms of being a guy that is hard to find a spot to be successful in.
  5. The bad part is that you see how good Becton has been with the switch to OG. Had we been a little more forward thinking, perhaps you don't spend mega bucks on the OG's and move Ikey inside once you get a good LT replacement. Ikey has the capability to be a solid LT but possibly All Pro OG.
  6. I think the truth is, as hard as it is for Panthers fans to accept, he is a very scheme specific guy with a limited ceiling. With our current DC, he doesn't fit at all. Take that as you will, as I think everyone should have ample questions about how Evero utilizes talent.
  7. Well, one is a rookie, one is a tier 2 QB that is trending towards tier 3 with their current OC. The other two are elite.
  8. It's not principle, it's just smart business. The alternative is back to the drawing board or spending insanely in free agency. Now the contract extension could be dicey. Let's hope he gives the hometown discount as a CLT native and lifelong Panthers fan.
  9. Go look back at the draft articles. Our coaching staff was on record believing he was going to be that guy. Which, don't forget he was a FS in college.
  10. Not necessarily. Don't forget they drafted Chinn to be that FS.
  11. I don't think we have a coaching staff that is remotely interested in a dominant rushing attack, so we really need to get a #1 WR.
  12. Well most of our attempts have been busts. It's another position we have consistently failed at(like WR).
  13. From the team perspective, you move on. If he ever does recover he can have a role as a 3rd string RB until he gets back into gear. If it never happens, you can cut bait. It sucks for the kid but we can't put too any eggs in the basket of another player that may never play a meaningful down again.
  14. It would be a big mistake to let Moton walk while attempting to shore up the rest of a terrible roster. Now is not the time to nuke the only functional unit on the team.
  15. We will definitely never agree. Drafting a RB in the 1st or 2nd has a very, very, VERY bad track record over the past 10+ years.
  16. I know so many Pats fans that get upset about KC without any sense of self awareness. That's why I do sort of wish KC keeps trucking on.
  17. I hate the entire NFC East way more than KC, TBH.
  18. Both about drafting RB's in the first two rounds and especially injured ones. Every year there are 800+ yd rushing rookies in the 3rd round and lower.
