I still think this year will be a referendum on Shanahan and Purdy. I know they are banged up but they have a lot less reasons to be 2-3 than we do to be 1-4.

Sanders has been Bryce Young-esque.

Yeah, I just don't recall that specific issue. I have seen him get off balance a few times but not any struggles with handing off assignments in that scenario. I would like to see them.
-
Do you have some examples of this?

100%. Plus we traded up to get him. Poor kid. We really fuged him hard.

I can't agree with that rosy a take but Morgan, unfortunately for him, carries the baggage of having been here through the worst era in franchise history under Fitterer. He deserves some rope but much like when Rhule was the GM while Fitterer was here, it's hard to erase that stink unless you are successful. So far his pro personnel moves seem to be decent. The draft....oooof....Fitterer-esque. We will see what happens but Morgan is on a short leash because he was here when we made some unbelievably bad roster/draft moves.

I am not going to pay attention if he does. It's a bunch of performative horseshit.

I love Cam but his addition isn't going to get me to watch Hot Take.

Well there isn't going to be a real benefit to making the move midseason other than to make this an even more less attractive spot than it already is. There isn't going to be any real improvement even if we did. What evaluation is there to be made? On a bunch of PS players? Just let it be what it is and when the season is over evaluate what you want to do moving forward.
-
There is literally no point in firing him this season. The season is long gone. It was over before it started. If they want to evaluate him after the season, so be it but firing him mid-season isn't going to net any benefits that actually impact the game outcomes. This is a historically bad defense. That's who they are.

We dropped from 26th and 27th in the NFL in TO's forced the previous two years to 32nd last year(currently 16th this year). We dropped from 39 sacks and 35 sacks in the previous two years to 27 sacks last season(on pace for 21 sacks this year). Also if you look at the stats when we Blitz versus don't blitz over the past two seasons, we get ANNIHILATED in the passing game versus running our normal scheme. I mean, it is fuging UGLY the difference. Also generate way more sacks.

We don't know if it's a Evero issue or not in terms of talent evaluation. Perhaps he has the power to "pick his guys" or perhaps he doesn't. I am not here singing the man's praises but I also don't see how you can blame FO moves on him. If the DC is responsible for drafting and free agency moves, WTF are Dan and Co. doing? But the point still stands, what DC in the NFL are you going to drop into this situation and it substantially improve? The overwhelmingly biggest issue is talent. As our defensive talent has steadily declined over the past few years, so has our defense. poo, you know when the last time we finished in the upper half of the league in both Yds against and Points Against was? 2017. We have been in the upper half of the NFL in yards against in 2023, 2021 and 2018. So a lot of these issues span several coordinators. The one constant is that we haven't drafted well during that time span. That's why our current defensive core is Derrick Brown and HOPEFULLY Jaycee Horn. Beyond that, none of these guys are core players. Few of them will be around in 2 seasons. If Evero gets fired that will be more about Canales attempting to deflect blame and flounder than anything else.

Jayden Daniels utilizing tech to his advantage
kungfoodude replied to Mills's topic in Carolina Panthers
Stuff like that will come eventually, although it's probably a ways off. I am not sure how much longer it will be before you see good AI driven interfaces that can truly assist in development. That doesn't feel like a next 10 years sort of thing. -
Yeah, much like Gettleman had to dig out of the cap mess created by Hurney 1.0, Morgan is going to have to navigate the mess that Rhule/Fitterer left in terms of an utterly talent devoid roster. Hard to say how it will turn out, after all, Gettleman also ended up not only authoring some of the biggest free agency blunders we have ever made but his drafts really fell apart at the end and he ended up a failure. Wouldn't be surprised to see Morgan ultimately fail but a lot of these problems aren't his making....yet.

Agreed. The positive is that we have a lot of other spots he could potentially go and be as if not more successful.

Panthers Tankathon (Week 6 Edition)
kungfoodude replied to Leeroy Jenkins Ph.D.'s topic in Carolina Panthers
The thing that has to happen is for us to start drafting well. It's very hard to complete a turnaround through almost only free agency. Also very, very expensive. If that doesn't start improving, there is really no light at the end of this tunnel.
