  1. I mean we had more of a defensive need in the 2025 draft than we may in the 2026 draft(so far). But we took a TE. We did it in the 5th round. Also he has overwhelmingly been our best TE to date. He and the FA pickup. I think you just have an extremely skewed view of TE's in the NFL. I would implore you to take a look at some draft history, depth charts and career progressions of a lot of those players. You are going to see ample examples of lower round guys being drafted and then immediately starting at TE. The reason it isn't rare is that there aren't many TE's taken in the 1st at all. It's the same with other positions. You think that it's impossible to find a C outside the 1st? Well....most of them aren't 1st rounders because they rarely get taken there. How about OG? The NFL is mostly non-1st round OG's and the elite tier is almost all not former 1st round OG's. How about RB's? Pretty similar right? That's not just numbers, it's positional value historically. High value positions litter the first round. It's always been that way.
  2. They are targeted towards the populace and they have more nefarious intentions, as well. Both are true. Hence the "ask your doctor about." That’s nuts. Hence why in a chunk of the European countries it is illegal to have such ads.
  3. To be fair, it's a pretty small sample size but I think he needs to get getting a lot more reps based on the limited looks.
  4. It applies to the offense largely, as well. Not as significantly but if you go position by position taking into account core players or guys that can't be upgraded, the numbers get pretty small. There is a ton of nuance to each scenario, as you are pointing out and I am very aware of that. There is no such thing as TRUE BPA because it flies in the face of logic. But overall, BPA needs to be the winning factor over need, IMO. That's how you end up bad for a long time by panic drafting. Gettleman, Rhule and Fitterer were the kings of that poo.
  5. I think the issues are: - You think the TE's on the roster are much better than they actually are. - You are hyperfocused on the 1st round. - You are a "need" based draft guy. All of those can get you in trouble as a roster builder.
  6. Well, I feel the same way about pharmaceutical, junk/fast food and political ads. They all cause active and KNOWN harm to the populace but we are the penultimate corrupt Western country, so that's just where we are as a society.
  7. I would say the stat that generally flies in the face of that is his Bad Throw%. Let's compare it to recent contemporaries(2022-2025 1st round QB's) for career Bad Throw%. Jayden Daniels: 14.7% Drake Maye: 15.3% Bo Nix: 16.4% Kenny Pickett: 18.0% CJ Stroud: 19.0% Jaxon Dart: 20.7% Caleb Williams: 20.7% Cam Ward: 21.1% Bryce Young: 21.4% Michael Penis: 24.1% JJ McCarthy: 24.4% Anthony Richardson: 26.4% Now, notice which end of the list he has been on so far.
  8. Honestly, those are things I expected and have been fairly underwhelmed.
  9. Yes but this is under the assumption that most of the players are susceptible to this sort of coercing from those type of elements. I think those actual cases are rare. Plus the sportsbooks are more motivated than most to stamp it out because it loses them money. It's just a natural side effect of having gambling at all. IMO, better for it to be legal. Now, I do find it insanely hypocritical(but also typical) that all these sports leagues that once turned their noses up and were very high and mighty about sports gambling are so openly supporting it now that the megabucks are rolling in.
  10. Well I should also say another caveat is positional value. You have to be careful violating that. For the scenarios you are describing, those are also things that free agency is for. Free agency should always set up the draft. Improve the roster and then go shopping for things to potentially take your roster up a notch. Lastly, we are in scenario 2. Our roster is still not good and we have holes at most position groups. We are actually in the "BPA All Day" range.
  11. It's also waaaaay harder to accomplish because of technological advances. That was the benefit of being a late comer to the sport. A lot of overseas casinos have been steadilu developing technology to flag suspicious betting.
  12. We are new to this because we are new to widespread LEGAL gambling. Look at the history of gambling scandals in soccer, rugby, cricket, etc. It's always been around.
  13. Especially considering typically few of the top TE's in the league ARE 1st round picks. Kelce, Kittle, McBride, LaPorta, Mark Andrews, Jake Ferguson, Dallas Godert, Zach Ertz, etc, etc. Literally more than half the who's who of NFL TE's over the past decade are not former 1st round draft picks. As I said, of the top 10 rookie receivers from the 2025 draft class three of them are not 1st round TE's(Fanin Jr., Gadsden III, Mason Taylor).
  14. I will say a chunk of those don't have to do with trying to improve the team overall. While not a big fan of the Evans pick, he has largely been our best TE so far this season in limited action. BPA should always rule the day. Don't reach for need, draft the best players available with caveats added for schematic fit and literal ability to roster a player. But X being needed over Y should never come into the equation when Y is a far higher rated player on your board.
  15. Well the bar for Dalton looking better had been set pretty low by Bryce. My expectation is slightly more production and far quicker decision making with the ball. Less mobility but quicker and probably more accurate. So something like Bryce + 10-15%. I am not exactly expecting him to blow the doors off. Maybe just achieve slightly below average NFL QB play.
  16. These are all clear bust guys. They are more suited for teams with well established starters and good QB development. That isn't us. Also none of those guys are clearly better than Bryce and none of them are an actual upgrade over Dalton. I am fine with them as a 3rd string option. That's very reasonable. But it wouldn't fix any of the current QB issues. But, that being the case, is it better to dumpster dive or maybe take a shot in the draft on a guy? Not saying I prefer one or the other, that's all situation based.
  17. The NBA has previously had a mafia related gambling scandal with a ref. This one looks much worse.
  18. I think Dalton, if he plays, looks slightly better than Bryce. So, if the wheels don't fall off Bryce(or Andy) the remainder of the season, I suspect we are looking at the exact same QB room in 2026. I would be surprised if he either signed a younger guy or drafted a guy. Also, we should probably actually draft a guy.
  19. No, he isn't. Trevor was billed as generational. Like Luck and now Arch. Not living up to that billing is a different level of bust precisely because of that tag. Bryce is at an Akili Smith, Heath Shuler, Joey Harrington level of bust at the moment. Just a guy that should have never been there in the first place. Now, the trade price is an aggravating factor but even with that the "generational" tag trumps it. That's a tough one to not live up to. Luck came closest but injuries derailed him. Lawrence has literally just never looked like it at all.
  20. The problem for Jags fans is that he isn't that far ahead of Bryce. That is not what you want for your "generational QB." Trevor is currently on pace to be the biggest QB bust of the last 20 or so years, IMO. Not that he won't be in the league or anything but this was supposed to be a generational guy. He is barely league average. No matter, though. If the path keeps being forged, Arch Manning will be saying "hold my beer" in the near future.
  21. But don't worry, when we run it, it will be 60% with Chuba. #Winning
  22. Absolutely. They didn't have a full offseason with us and they are just simply not NFL roster caliber players. PS level, yes. I get being frustrated with Bryce. I am too. I get being upset with not having a better backup than Dalton. I generally disagree but I at least understand. But pining for XFL/UFL/CFL caliber guys....this is the poo I don't understand. Nor the pining for Fields or other various examples of CLEARLY non-NFL caliber QB's. Just because we are bad at QB doesn't mean we should literally start spamming every single available body at the position until we get a good game. I honestly believe that is how some of these people here would operate.
  23. Well they have faced Dalton a bunch before when he was with Cincy. He is 4-2 lifetime against them.
