Man that was great. Boy, we will never have times like that again, sadly. We should have appreciated it more at the time, especially in the throes of a dead organization.

That is the problem with grand conspiracies. They require a level of secrecy that isn't realistic. The truth is, I think it's more human than conspiracy. The refs/umpires/game officials can be impacted by the scenarios too. I remember one player some years back from an opposing team saying he wasn't at all intimidated by the Cameron Crazies("pimply faced nerds" or something similar). But if you have ever seen the games there, it's pretty obvious more than a few of the officials get intimidated by that crowd/environment and it impacts their judgements, consciously or subconsciously. Or think about how players can develop reputations with the officials. So guys will get calls against them or for them based on that. Coaches, same thing. If you wanted truly impartial officiating in ANY sport, you would have to remove the human beings from those decisions entirely. That alone may not necessarily be better, per se. How would you ever get a "let them play" atmosphere(typically in the playoffs) from an AI or algorithm? That happens because the officials decide to stay out of the way for the most part and not call every foul/penalty.

There is hundreds or thousands of hours of footage. They can edit you to look however they want. These has never been a shred of any reality in reality TV. That's my point. Way more than you think is scripted to an extent, as well.

Went to several more simulators to see what was up.

They are not straightforward. This is something widely known and documented about literally any reality TV show in the past 30 years. People are just easily fooled by TV.

Matt(not Mac, he’s dead)Miller two round mock draft
kungfoodude replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't want to take one of these edge rushers in the top 10, even Carter, TBH. -
Star players always get preferential treatment. It's not nearly as bad in the NFL as say, the NBA, but it literally does happen in all major professional sports. In college the preferential fugery is absolutely off scale. It's been that way for decades. It makes financial sense. Your stars players and teams drive fan interest and revenue. They care less about hardcore fans because they know very few of them are gonna go anywhere. Hence the pining after extremely casual followers(not even fans) with the Taylor Swift horseshit. It's a way to increase interest and revenue, although it will be predictably very temporary. For all our bitching and complaining about the dumb European games, that has actually worked to create some lasting interest in Europe. And that is a project going back to the late 80's with the early iterations of NFL Europe. Same with the rule changes to foster more offensive play. Does the league really want Ricky Manning Jr. shutting down a star player because he can hang all over them? Do they want Peyton Manning getting knocked out by a rotational DL that dove at his knees? These are all efforts to expand the fanbase, increase the value of the NFL and member franchises(like the initiatives to include the ultra wealthy only as owners) that ultimately are designed for maximum profitability and longevity. It sucks for the fans but all of it makes logical sense and it isn't really some grand conspiracy.

Yeah, so he will get in just not the "first ballot." Also interesting that this revamped process was started by HOF members that thought the quality of HOF inductees was dropping.

Pretty sure Walker has a lot of late 1st and early 2nd round grades at the moment. We will see what happens during the evals and combine. -
Please keep in mind that this is "reality TV" so editing and scripting are basically 98% of the show, not what actually happened/would happen. This is just a fact of this sort of "entertainment."

https://thelandondemand.com/news/2025/feb/07/inside-the-hall-of-fame-voting-process/ Doesn't look like there was much chance Luke was going to get in. I mean, at all. Look at the debate length. Edit: Actually, it looks like the first ballot part is what torpedoed him because they have opted to clip those guys wings in general. The guy in the article didn't vote for him, FWIW. Does look like he would be likely in the next two classes to get in.

[The Athletic] Panthers big board: Draft options at No. 8
kungfoodude replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think there is much of a path unless there is a lightspeed insane run on QB's. For most of the non-QB teams ahead of us, he is likely top 2 on their board. -

That's probably a trade down scenario, though. Not against that at all depending on the price. This draft is light on elite guys but I am not sure how high a guy that is really projected to be an ILB will be. I don't want to overdraft a guy like that but I also didn't understand the Luke pick at the time so if he is ultimately BPA, let's fuging go. -

This draft is light on elite players. There is no real debate, TBH. -
We just have these games from time to time. We get Grade A opportunities and just can't make plays. IDK TF the deal is. It's like some force field is around every potential positive play. It's bad puck luck to the nth degree.

Keep in mind this MFer is 1-7-1 since Nov. 1st. This guy about to get his 5th win in 13 starts this year. Wow.

Aaannnnnd, good night. I am with you. Seen this all before.

We are very predictable in these games. When if ain't going our way, it ain't going our way. February was a brutal schedule and it has proved to be that.
