  1. Well, the stats case for Darnold is about as bad as you could make for a starting QB. In truth, we only have one NFL caliber QB on the roster in Darnold and he is likely a #2 QB at best(decent chance he is a #3 QB). Oh well, maybe it will be less frustrating to watch than Teddy for a year.
  2. Yeah, we are betting on long shots in the all college staff and a reclamation bust QB. You just have to hope that one or more of the gambles works. I guess ultimately that is all you need.
  3. I think Delhomme is about right as far as his ceiling. He will never be an elite franchise QB but if everything goes his way he might be able to be as good as Delhomme was. His ceiling is honestly less concerning than his floor.
  4. I think we will see them be more aggressive with a far more athletic secondary and a hopefully improved LB corps.
  5. I think his ceiling is even higher than Star because he is a more legit threat to rush the passer.
  6. No, those guys were freaks. Brown isn't likely to be that guy. But, that doesn't matter. He makes everyone around him better and that is important, if underappreciated.
  7. Well if Darnold fails, we will be in a Browns like situation. Remember that time period where they started QB after QB, season after season? Take a look at our post 2017 run of different QB's. It isn't pretty. 6 different QB's to start games and 7 different QB's to attempt passes in a game. This year with Sam will make that 7 and 8(assuming Walker and Grier are the #2 and #3). That definitely doesn't happen to winning teams or functional franchises. If we fast forward in the future and Darnold fails.....how easy is it going to be to keep guys like DJ and Anderson eventually? It definitely isn't great for their careers to have a new QB every season. That is the thing that Panthers fans need to be aware of, sometimes it takes a while and a lot of losing to get the next guy at QB. We have had those periods already in our team history, so this shouldn't be foreign to us.
  8. That line was so fuging good. We have a promising group of players on our DL here now but I am not sure we will ever eclipse how good that group was.
  9. People forget how good vintage Kris Jenkins was. Had he not struggled with injuries and consistency, he would have been considered an elite player at that position. Also, playing next to a freak like Peppers didn't exactly do wonders for his spotlight either.
  10. RAS also has a "size" portion of it, which can skew it against players that aren't in the "ideal" category. It definitely can highlight guys that are elite athletes. If you look at the Panthers historic RAS scores, a large portion of our elite players are in that Elite to Above Average category. Brown will never be a guy like Donald or Cox or Jenkins. But he can blow people off the line, create for our other pass rushers and generally disrupt plays. That is where his value is. He just needs to become a more sure tackler and work on his array of pass rush moves. If he can smooth out the rough edges, he can be an 8-10 year starter for us.
  11. Well, you just don't know how to Google, which isn't super surprising. Try looking up his RAS. For reference, it's a fair amount lower than Kris Jenkins(who was an above average athlete via that metric). He isn't a bad athlete but he is definitely not an elite athlete, especially by NFL standards. But that isn't necessary at his position he just needs to be explosive in short windows.
  12. He isn't really even a super athlete he is just so freakishly strong.
  13. Imagine him when he actually has a polished pass rush game.
  14. Settle down, Francis. Quit being so emo.
  15. You like this tactic but it ultimately makes me believe you are a teenager.
  16. Gross is definitely not undervalued by our fans because that position had been such a dumpster fire since he left. In a large part it aided in losing our franchise QB to injuries. I would say Gross was undervalued by the rest of the NFL fans, though.
  17. How was what he said wrong? There is zero question he was the best LT the Panthers have ever fielded. There is zero question Gross was a top 10 LT in the NFL for the bulk of his career. But he also isn't a HOF LT either. We love him because he is OUR great player. That doesn't necessarily mean that the rest of the league sees him that way. Another good example of that is Steve Smith. He is my all-time favorite Panther. IMO, he's a first ballot HOFer because he was the best pound for pound WR I have ever seen. But, he may not end up as a first ballot HOF guy because a lot of people don't consider him HOF caliber. I disagree but that's because I am inherently biased about it.
  18. Fletcher Cox. I have seen that dude dominate games before. Not quite as consistently as Donald, though.
  19. This is true. And both were all-time Panther greats.
  20. Anytime you push to being one game from elimination, every game becomes a must win. If we go down 3-1, the odds of winning are really low
  21. If you are Rod, do you start Ned or Mrazek in Game 4?
  22. Caught snippets of it on a flight from Denver to Detroit. Missed the GWG. It was a must win. Sadly, so is the next game.
  23. Yeah, this staff seems to not really differentiate.
  24. Yeah, this was the offseason of depth. We got a boatload of guys that should be solid backups and a few potential starters. If we start having to move guys around to full in, something went pretty terribly wrong.
