Why are you posing as "Natalie" on Twitter when your name is clearly Verge? I don't understand.
-
I'm down. Twit to him on Twatter and let him know. I'll just wait for the results since I despise that platform.
-
He also has a slow delivery, a less than lively arm and some questionable mechanics. If you want that kind of QB, why not take the far better version in Mac Jones? He has all the polish that Trask doesn't and still doesn't have an elite skill set. That Herbert comparison is pretty bad. Herbert was a great athlete and has just about every elite skill you want in a QB. His questions were all related to the scheme at Oregon and him being able to translate to the NFL.

I think there is a lot more crossover between the college and pro gameplans than there was in the 2000's.
-
The league's derth of quality starting QB's can actually be largely attributed to that time period. Fast forward to the past 4-5 drafts and it appears on the surface that the future of the NFL QB's have been recently. I think several factors probably contribute to that.

I really don't know why SF wouldn't be in on the deal. That team is already really close and they are about to have to make some tough roster choices. Not to mention they may be the 3rd or 4th best team in the division now.
-
I have no doubt about it. It was more a jab at the Texans and their ridiculous posturing.
-
How is there a bidding war if they claim to not be talking to anyone?

2022 and 2023 are the big worries for us and his contract. That is also around the time that some of our current core will need deals. He is owed $35 mil in 2022 and $37 mil in 2023. The best hope is the new TV deal gives rise to the resumption of the salary cap going up. If not, or if the Rona hit is bigger than expected.....now you have to make tough decisions.

That's the thing, Ryan's age is a big concern. He'll be 36 next season and you wonder if he has more than 2-3 more seasons before he starts declining. Is that really worth "multiple" firsts? Maybe to a "win now" team but he has less value than Stafford, IMO. It would be a different story were he 32-33.
-
Yeah, we went round and round on that. I just don't buy your logic of him being "bigger" so that means he is better. Herbert's size is an asset but his elite skill levels are what made him a big time prospect. Trask has very little in terms of the elite skills.
-
Incorrect. I was, as well. Said so at the time. Trask isn't the guy. You'll see.
-
Oh yeah. IDK why I thought he was a 2012 draft pick.
-
Yeah, the timing is odd on all these moves. I have to believe something is in the works.
-
Because he can't give up hope on "his" guys.
-
No, that was the discussion at the time. It seemed to be making cap space available immediately, versus having more space available next offseason. That was why the speculation about a Moton deal being imminent popped up. The only logical reason to cut him prior to June 2nd was to free up immediate money to spend.
-
He played pretty well on those one year deals, not fantastic but fairly well. He did not play fairly well last year.
-
Cutting the idiot contracts we signed. Tre immediately hit the shitter once he finally got his non-one year deal.
-
The question of Curtis. Tim Weaver wants to keep him.

High production in the slot doesn't mean you are more than a slot guy. There is more to it than raw statistics. -
ESPN Predicts Watson to be the Panthers starter in 2021

Lol. I love how this is entirely framed as if the Texans have all the "choice" in this matter. You are a weird dude. -
I actually laughed aloud at this post. Congrats on that OP.

No it doesn't. All of that other poo you invented in your head. You literally cannot post a single article with any of the details of the nature of the discussions with the Texans or what was said or how it was said or anything of the sort. You are literally pulling this out of your ass to suit your own extremely weird internal narrative. It's pretty much what you do in just about any discussion here. The level of confidence about so many of these things you say without the slightest bit of actual information is staggering. Your takes would make David Newton blush. -
What Carolina and others offered for Stafford
kungfoodude replied to Calboyz13's topic in Carolina Panthers
He is the highest paid RB in the NFL. That is far, far from being reasonable. Even without the bonus hit, which would stay with us, there are not many teams in the NFL that want to pay a RB $8.5-12 mil/year. That is why there are only 6 other RB's in the NFL making more than $8 mil/year next season. Of that group of the top 7 paid running backs in 2021, only one team was a playoff participant this past season and those 7 teams went a combined 41-70. As has been discussed before on this forum, RB's have been rather devalued in the past 15+ years of the NFL. It was an extremely stupid extension and made doubly worse by the fact that we didn't have to sign it when we did(with two years remaining on his contract). To pile on even further, he probably isn't the highest paid RB in the NFL without Marty Hurney as our GM signing a terrible extension at a terrible time. -

Well, since you have all this insight in to these situations, how about you give us an article with the details of that "polite request" and the "gentlemanly way he approached the situation?"
