  1. to be fair he had Aho coming in all alone on him.....I probably would have had multiple gaping holes. (That didn't sound right, but yeah....)
  2. Burns should get into the $114-118M range for 5 years and a hefty guarantee, that puts him in the Top 10 of EDGE rushers. If he isn't happy with that # I don't know how his team can justify more. Only in Carolina.....
  3. Chase Young went from being DROY to underperforming on a pretty talented Washington D-line, can't put my finger on why.... Anyways, if he can be motivated again and put in a position to succeed he would be a steal for a 3rd round pick.
  4. We aren't running the ball as much or effectively and DEs are teeing off on straight rushes to BY as fast as they can a la Brian Burns. Icky looked pretty decent last year because instead of always knowing he was going to be in pass protect like this year, there were times he could just go ahead and maul the DE in front of him in the run game. The offense doesn't fit Icky being at LT.....guard yes, tackle no.
  5. I don't think Wilks is a bad coach, but he isn't a HC. He had the chance here right in front of him, he evoked pre Riverboat Rivera and punted the ball to Tom Brady from midfield in a must win game with a decimated secondary. He made the decision easy for NOT getting the HC job.
  6. I don't like r/canes so I didn't even know someone said something over there. This is home for me! Too many fan girls over there!!
  7. Hmmmm, maybe less invasive surgery so he can play again this season? Good news if so!
  8. I didn't want it to be true, but the info I got was solid. I trust Ice Building Maintenance Man, first correct info on Svech and now confirmed with Pesce. Still feel really bad for Pesce, it has to be frustrating as he heads towards UFA. This really makes me concerned about Aho. Fishy didn't look good last night and that correlates to what they said about his shoulder.
  9. He's so busy being in every deal we don't know where in the world he could be!
  10. Yep, teams are really tight lipped about injuries and rightfully so. If other teams know about a player's injury who is trying to play through it, trust they are going to punish them as much as possible. Maybe I should go to all the NHL message boards and say Koochie's glove hand is broken so teams will quit going 5 hole on him!!
  11. Yeah, I was hoping Pono and Suzuki would get some meaningful playing time this year to see where they are. I was higher on Pono, but Suzuki had a solid training camp. I like Drury and thinks he plays as hard as he can, but he's a career 4th liner who has already expressed frustration about his playing time. He is getting it now and the production isn't there.
  12. Problem is Aho is not 100% and may not be 100% the rest of the season, Jordan is not 100%, Slavin is not 100%. Pesce probably won' be 100% the rest of the way. This is going to be longer than a couple of weeks, especially for Aho unless his shoulder really isn't that bad. Also for Pesce who we haven't heard too much about. Full disclosure on the post I made about the guys being banged up: the person who works inside the building isn't a team doctor or trainer, but handles ice/building/looker room operations. I just wanted to clarify because I don't want anyone saying "well Davis knows the cousin of the brother of the husband's wife of the medical trainer and he has said so and so." These are just observations that have been made or things overheard in the arena/locker room and should be taken as speculation. The team is banged up early on and I think we have to temper our expectations.
  13. Yeah, I am not saying anything about Horn because what the team disclosed about his previous injuries would be season ending - foot, arm. He also isn't in any position to be making a "business decision." He has been really good when he's healthy, but he wouldn't get max $$ because of his injury history. He'll return at some point this season as the team has already said it wasn't season ending. This isn't the same as the CMC situation.
  14. I will always believe CMC made sure to "save himself" when he had injuries the two years prior to being traded. He was awesome for us and then got that bag. Once that contract was signed he didn't come back from injuries which he could have....if he had wanted to. The company line may have been the team shut him down, but CMC had no desire to be part of the dumpster fire Rhule was rolling out there. Last year he stayed healthy and had some good games for us and when we fell out of contention the decision was made to trade him. I don't disagree about trading him, but we then gave him his choice of the Rams or the 49ers. Of course he chose to go play for Shanahan in San Francisco. It all worked out so well for him and his model fiance - it was exactly what he wanted. A year later he has been tearing it up and playing hard. He got hurt last week and was back for the Vikings game. If he was still a Panther he might have been done for the season. This is my opinion and I appreciate his effort when he was here and establishing himself, but I will not be pulling for him to win a Super Bowl etc. because he dogged it until he got what he ultimately wanted. In hindsight I wish he would have just been honest when it was time to sign his big deal and told the Panthers he didn't want to be in Carolina or the East Coast. He didn't and we got some draft picks, but we lost a very dynamic player who could have helped us......he just didn't want to - at least under Rhule.
  15. Another tough one tonight. Like I said in another thread, Aho has a shoulder injury and how bad it is has been kept quiet. The guy I know who works in the building said he thought it was worse than anyone was letting on and Seabass was going to try to play through it, but after watching him tonight and him not playing center I think we need to just bite the bullet and let him heal...ever what that takes. Svech is close as his ACL wasn't completely torn and he had no other ligament/knee damage so his surgery was pretty straightforward and much less complex/invasive than a normal ACL injury, but again I don't want them to rush him back. Give him more time...at least until mid-November, just my opinion. Pesce has a hip issue and just like Aho they are keeping tight lipped about it. Pesce might not be back this season, but like most hockey players he is going to try to rehab and play through it. Just like shoulders it is hard to play through a hip injury and by playing you aren't giving it time to rest/heal. Realistically if this team didn't have Cup aspirations I think Pesce would go ahead and have it surgically repaired. Slavin's hammy is strained, but he's playing through it. It's not major, but still can't be comfortable. Freddie got his bell rung and is still in the concussion protocol. He has practiced, but he's also felt sick after practicing and is experiencing light sensitivity. Not going to rush back, going to play Koochie and Raanta. Koochie is our 1A at the moment. Last but not least, Jordan has been playing through a stiff back. It's muscle related, but he's out there trying. We got some injury issues and we are in for a tough row. I really hope the Canes take the conservative approach with all the guys and focus on getting them healthy/doing the right thing and then making a run when most of them are healthier. Aho and Pesce's injuries worry me because both are candidates for surgery. Both want to be on the ice to help the team, but when you can't play your best you are just continuing hurting yourself and the team. Pesce is really not happy since it's a contract year, I feel bad for him. Let's hang in there and support our guys. It's been a long time since we have been THIS banged up. #LetsGoCanes
  16. About time @ellis @EllisRadio80 popped in and said hello. I think you've been pretty fair about things, a little more positive than I am at this point. We are on the same page about Bryce.....way too early to judge what he's going to be. I think your torching of the defense is warranted and I really think you should hold Burns's feet to the fire more than you do. I mean the guy is asking for $30M+ - do you think he deserves that much?
  17. Realistically he shouldn't have blitzed 6 in that situation, but by no means was he the cause of the 49ers losing tonight.
  18. Can you please show me the way....divorced, single dad of 4 struggling with life. Appreciate it!
  19. We aren't getting anything of value for either Donte or CJ. If we trade them who plays CB? We are seriously one of, if not the most, depleted team in the NFL.
  20. From what I heard Aho has a banged up right shoulder. I don't like to hear about banged up shoulders and players trying to play through those injuries, hope it's not too bad as it can really bring a guy's game down a notch or two of what they can do.
  21. I think we've already seen Purdy's ceiling and Shanahan knows it. He has looked average the last 3 games and is a game manager as @LinvilleGorgepointed out, nothing more and nothing less. Without CMC, Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk he is a career backup at best.
  22. The problem we have is players sandbag their way out of Carolina the last 2-3 years. No one can tell me CMC gave 100% to being available to play for the Panthers after he got that sweet contract and hooked up with his model fiance....they both wanted out of Carolina for the West Coast. I think Burns is not happy about his contract and he is sandbagging a little too, not totally, but he isn't going 100% every down. It's really a bad situation, good players don't want to play here. We can trade for a solid WR and when his contract is up he'll jet. In all honesty, two years ago we could have re-signed Reddick and Gilmore and our defense would be miles better than what it is. Reddick made Burns better and Gilmore made our secondary better. We opted not to and see where we are now. It sucks and we are not somewhere players want to be.
