  1. Ian Rapoport reports that the Panthers claimed CB Akayleb Evans on Monday after he was waived by the Vikings on Saturday. Evans, 25, attended Tulsa for three years before transferring to Missouri in 2021 as a graduate transfer. He was selected by the Vikings in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
  2. The Carolina Panthers announced Monday that they’ve placed DE Charles Harris on waivers. Harris is tied for the team lead in sacks, so this is a bit of a surprise.
  3. This was the best possible scenario for the Panthers - Bryce plays well but we lose

  5. Come to Homer's BBBQ. The extra B is for BYOBB. Hey, Homer, what's that B for? That's a typo.
  6. I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game. 3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
  7. "Two seasons in Carolina have brought similar team-wide frustrations -- compounded by injuries and other personnel limitations -- but effort from [Ejiro] Evero's players is never an issue. Under first-year HC Dave Canales in 2024, Evero is effectively the head coach of the defense. He has trained under great coordinators, including Vic Fangio and Dom Capers, giving him a unique blend of perspectives. And interest in the league hasn't waned: Evero has interviewed for eight head-coaching jobs over the past two cycles, earning second interviews with the Colts, Falcons, Panthers, Seahawks and Texans." - Tom Pelissero, NFL Network
  8. "[Daniel] Jones could head back home to Charlotte. He was born in Charlotte and went to high school in Charlotte before taking his talents east to play for the Duke Blue Devils. Bryce Young's future is unknown at this point, and veteran backup Andy Dalton is a free agent. Jones returning home to back up another quarterback, whether that be Young or a draft pick, makes some sense." - Jordan Dajani, CBS Sports
  9. Best of the defense LB Claudin Cherelus: 71.3 CB Jaycee Horn: 70.4 ILB Shaq Thompson: 67.4 CB Mike Jackson: 67.0 OLB Jadeveon Clowney: 64.0 Horn has allowed a 45.5-percent completion rate thus far, the lowest amongst all cornerbacks with at least 300 coverage snaps. His fellow starting corner in Jackson, who has accounted for a solid 66.4 coverage grade, has proven to be a late-summer steal for the Panthers and general manager Dan Morgan. Clowney has totaled a team-high 20 pressures. https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/lists/panthers-pff-grades-bye-week/
  10. Worst of the defense DL Shy Tuttle: 49.1 DL DeShawn Williams: 46.4 DL Nick Thurman: 39.9 DL LaBryan Ray: 38.7 CB Chau Smith-Wade: 36.5 Carolina’s ineffectiveness against opposing ground attacks starts upfront. None of the four defensive lineman in this group have a run defense grade over 40.0. Smith-Wade has struggled since taking over as the unit’s primary slot defender. He’s currently sitting on a 30.9 coverage grade.
