  1. RASHAAN MELVINDB, CAROLINA PANTHERS Panthers signed CB Rashaan Melvin to a one-year contract. Melvin has bounced around the league since entering as an undrafted free agent in 2013. Last year, he opted out of the season for COVID-19 reasons and the Jaguars released him shortly after. The 31-year-old offers depth as a fringe starter. Carolina will be playing a lot of Cover 3 zone defense under DC Phil Snow. Expect plenty of three-safety looks, too.
  2. Fitterer turning over every stone in order to find trash
  3. This is a Drayton Florence Anoine Cason type of signing
  4. 31 year old tall for a corner at 6’2” more of a mentor type for our really young secondary I suppose
  5. Keelan Cole or Dede Westbrook would be nice replacements
  6. Realistic CB options for us: Browns Kevin Johnson Texans Gareon Conley Washington Fabian Moreau Packers Kevin King
  7. The Panthers structured the two-year contract of FA OT Cameron Erving to be cap friendly in 2021, counting only $2,240,000 against the cap. It jumps to $7,760,000 in 2022. Suspect OG Pat Elflein's deal will have similar structure. Picking up the $3.55 million in space when S Trey Boston's release becomes official at 4 p.m., Carolina still will have approximately $28 million to $29 million in cap space. Plenty of room to, say, add Deshaun Watson to the roster if the Texans opt to trade him. David Newton, ESPN Staff Writer11h ago
