  1. I mean, the games themselves in large part haven't really allowed it though. I mean, you can want to run....but if you got a weak OL and rookie RB running behind it (and a D not respecting the QB play)? Well the good defenses can simply force you out of it. I think that happened a lot. We played 4 teams that were in the bottom 10 in run defense and we beat 3 of those 4 teams. Problem was our run talent wasn't good enough for the be the gameplan that actually unfolded vs good defenses. They could focus on stopping the run. And had little to fear if they wanted to be aggressive in doing it. You can't exactly impose your will on others when your run game is weak playing against good defenses. It's a talent issue prohibiting it. Compared to other NFL teams, Carolina has been one of the more balanced teams in terms of run vs pass under Rhule. If you look at the teams w/ the heaviest run percentage they had legit run game talent. I mean, sticking to the run when you are forced out of it is just conceding defeat when it is a talent issue primarily.
  2. And Josh McDaniel had a worse offense than us in 2020. You have to have a certain of talent before your OC matters. Ryan, Vick, Smith, etc are all capable QBs. They just weren’t top tier. Your OC starts to matter once you have capable QB play. If you get a Jimmy Clausen, Sam Darnold type behind C…..Andy Reid would have a bottom half of the league offense with them. You can’t scheme around a guy that can’t do basics in a passing league after a couple weeks. You just lose. If we cloned Andy Reid our offense would have still stunk last year.
  3. QB/OL > OC O requires a certain level of QB play or who your OC is largely becomes irrelevant. Still worried Rhule is going to be stupid. Baker might be too much personality for Rhule…..and cause him to lean to Sam. Baker is going to say a lot more than Teddy.
  4. He interviewed for OC jobs for a couple years. A positional coach with the Jags is all he could get. I mean there is something to that in terms of how the league views him. Could be personality/connection/image driven than talent I guess.
  5. Tepper is basically Shahid Kahn IMO. Maybe a slight upgrade.
  6. True. But it’s still rare for a NFL HC to struggle to find a demoted coordinator job. He finally landed a positional job with the worst team in the NFL years later. so there is something there. What it is? Who knows.
  7. I don’t disagree that Sam is better today. But he is pointless in the long term and short term. I’m merely prioritizing Corral developing and getting better and more reps over Sam. Because regardless of what Sam is owed there is no point to him. There is one to Corral getting work and opportunity. More learning opportunity as the 2.
  8. Tomorrow morning in Matt Rhule's office (Tep on the right, Fitt on the left) Nothing said ever alludes to us being a well run org. Rhule gets final say....but the GM had to go out of his way to say how the entire staff will be involved and the owner too? lol.
  9. Ragnarok probably set the bar for Thor way too high. I think that has a lot to do w/ the "disappointed" reviews. It's better than Thor and Dark World. Not as good as Ragnarok.
  10. Backup QB spot behind a vet IMO is a great place to develop a rookie. You could always keep PJ on the practice squad too for emergency. Sam is just a pointless rep stealer IMO for Corral at this stage. He isn't safe enough to be an actual backup and the development hope IMO is over.
  11. problem w/ the Sam as a backup thing.....is he is the polar opposite of what you look for in backup. Corral fits because he is young and developmental. For a vet, you would prefer a Teddy type as a backup. Sam is a timebomb. A game imploder.
  12. Our QB depth chart is Sam Darnold, PJ Walker and a 3rd round rookie. He is the best option week 1 and it isn’t much of a debate. why wouldn’t you want the best QB on the roster prepping all camp and preseason as the one in a brand new system with brand new teammates vs….other QBs stealing reps with the 1s he needs?
  13. He literally just got dumped by the Browns for a serial predator and no one really wanted him. I’d say that is enough. Now let him be a real QB. Which means taking on a leadership role a QB should have. Early. Another problem we had last year with Rhule BS mantra of a QB just being a random player and not a leader. QBs always needs to lead to an extent.
  14. Maybe, but Rivera still went through with the charade of him earning it and it took the entire preseason before Ron would acknowledge it. It was dumb. And it will be be dumb if Rhule doesn’t just let Baker prep as the 1 and pretends like it is a comp.
  15. Cam technically had to compete. He played as the #2 in the preseason. Don’t think he “earned” the job until after the 4th game. it was dumb. and everyone in Spartanburg will know who gives us the best chance to win. But Rhule probably will play the charade. And Rhule probably will play musical QBs in the season if Baker doesn’t win
  16. Joe Brady is a passing guy. He didn’t belong here. Which was a problem. He also had to develop and we have too many other issues for that. and we had a green passing OC and gave him Sam Darnold and a bad OL LMAO. Gee I wonder why that failed. A rookie RB who couldn’t catch. Better OCs couldn’t of made it work in Carolina last year given the talent. but my stance doesn’t change. He wasn’t the problem. Just a problem. Much bigger problems in Carolina than Brady. Starts with Rhule. He has been the primary one. He has put things together that fail by design. That was our offense in 2021. Nothing wrong with 2020. We over achieved all things considered.
  17. I’m not saying he should be honest. I got no problem with him essentially lying about it now. That’s the play. It’s frankly not a big deal to me. but I think it’s funny people want to act like Robbie wasn’t dissing Baker in reality
  18. Pacman Jones “come on bruh you can be honest” lol doesn’t look like anyone there believed anything Robbie wanted to say publicly.
  19. I always find it funny how super homers trying to paint everything as some sick hatred. Jimmy Clausen just really sucked as a NFL QB. Being certain of such early on….isn’t some twisted hatred of the human. Matt Rhule sucks. Really bad as a NFL coach. And that was largely a pretty predictable outcome. NFL and college are essentially two completely different games on and off the field. He is a college coach. i doubt anyone would be really upset if their college team hired Matt Rhule.
  20. Here is Matt telling Baker and Sam about the DBO sign
  21. Big picture, it's all about the QB. But if you have a good coach and a well built team......you shouldn't be a bottom feeder if you are just missing the QB. Bottom feeder teams are missing more than a QB.
  22. but but but I was told by Rhule fan boys Joe Brady (the guy whose MO is attacking deep) demanded checkdown Teddy Bridgewater and then demanded one read Sam turnover machine. Matt Rhule has no idea how to build anything. That much is clear. No pairings have ever made sense.
  23. some pretty good and well recognized actors in there. Congrats!
