Cam Ward.....opinions (AKA A Thread About Shedeur Sanders)
CRA replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
You didn’t answer….what do coaches do if they have horrrific OLs to help mitigate that and win? and Colorado went out and bought an OL. They have talent. They don’t have talent to be 5 and 4 wide all game long….and then paired with a QB who holds the ball on top of that looking for home run balls. They aren’t trying to win some quick pass/screen game out of it. It’s hero ball. -

Quick question, since you know football...what do coaches do that actually have horrible OL talent? Say the worst in all of college football. What do they do to mitigate that and try to win games? I'll give you a hint of what the answer isn't.....they don't sit in and run 5 or 4 wide all game long -

we must of hit a time portal to the early 90s. Not sure they are everybody's Super Bowl for successfully getting through the cupcake part of the schedule with style. Miami's resume been too thin, for too long for that IMO. Now, I do think Miami is got a shot to actually return to relevance this year. But they got to show a lot more for the masses to really believe. I need to see Ward against some tougher Ds/teams. Unfortunately, that just not on the table anytime soon. -

it's not a conspiracy that Deion Sanders has constructed an offense that prioritizes his son and what his son's resume/stats will be. It's just water being wet. and Deion Sanders and what the O chooses to do....is what makes that OL the worst in college football. You keep running with that and it's just not true. They got talent. It's bought. They got more talent than plenty of teams on the OL. But when you put an OL in 5 and 4 wide situations all game and let a defense pin their ears back all game....with a QB that holds the ball looking for the big play to unfold......they are going to appear really bad. It's all in the setup. North Dakota St was literally giving a free opportunity they never should of seen.....and came up 3 yards short because the Sanders team prioritizes family over the basics a middle school football team should be able to grasp lol. Where will Deion Sanders be next season? It won't be Colorado. He is full of poo. It's a reality TV show in Colorado. Little else. -

Because it’s pretty well established what the Sanders crew is doing with the Colorado situation at this stage. And the scheme and O over prioritizes the QB play and production….the the determinant on the overall team. Their O is a unique anomaly….that coincidently resume pads the QB stats for his/their draft….and when stuff is pointed out like throwing instead of kneeling out a win, taking sacks….the glaring stuff is all defended. -

he likes to call me a hater too. I grew up on Sanders. He played for my teams. I loved him going to Jackson St. I thought what he was doing was awesome. But that turned out to be a charade. Which was exposed as such. So I started calling it what it was. He is just doing the brand building he has always done....it's just extended slightly to include his family. That's what it is. Sanders family branding. And he is done in Colorado when his son is. -

define "winning" games? You mean technically he wins a couple? How did Bryce Young win games last year in Carolina. Yeah, that's also called losing. Deion Sanders employs some good coaches and recruits talent (because they want eyeballs, which they get). Colorado has decent talent given the conference they are in. They would probably win more games if Deion didn't dictate the scheme and playcalls on Sat....and just let the OC do his job. -

yeah, he isn't playing some diva position though back in the day. He is a QB. The whole, just doing what his daddy did thing is sort of the red flag there. So the Colorado St QB can't talk about beating an upcoming opponent.....but Sanders can. That seems like a double standard. Sanders had plenty to say about what he was going to do to Nebraska. Colorado QB manned up after the game to do the right thing. -
yep lol. We are spending I think more money than anyone on the OL right now. We should look decent there. Still got question marks at LT though. Dionte sure looks to be here to prove he isn't what the Steelers suggested and thus get a deal elsewhere. That's generally what we have viewed it as. A one year pit stop. RB has never played a snap. Who knows about him. XL still an unknown (he is my guy though) we are in a pretty weak cap position given how meh the roster presently sits. and it's a QB league. We got nothing in the works at this point big picture.

yeah, realistically, before anyone gets excited about Hunter.....he has to make it through the season. The mileage and essentially risk he is put under is so unique. The snap count he is playing just screams injury. It's math. 2 seasons worth of reps in 1 year is what he is getting. -

I'd take Hunter. But I'd play him one way. I assume he will want to be a WR in the NFL. I'd rather have him as DB though. -

let's keep Dalton, add another young vet-ish type, and draft like young kid in like round 3. Spend that 1st on D. 2nd too. -

he has been holding the ball consistently too long. Sure, sometimes the OL just gets beat off the snap. But that's not every down. He holds the ball looking for the big play....and often just invites the pressure. Rarely throwing it away after inviting it. your love for Colorado and the stance you took so early, seems to have you incapable of acknowledging some basics going on. -

It's hard to gauge him into the NFL. He is basically playing 7 on 7 style of ball with a top tier WR corp vs meh talent. It wouldn't be a shock to see Sanders come into the NFL and get wrecked in a NFL pocket. He isn't suddenly going to get rid of the ball and make quick throws. -
I bad mouthed how he handled Bryce and the preseason.... said that was no way to get a bad young QB ready for the start of a season (given he didn't fit his O and all the stuff that has been thrown at Bryce). And Bryce played his worst ball of his young career and was benched. I got no problem with Canales in a vacuum. I've always said he had some good things to him. I didn't like the marriage of what we were told we were getting coming into this season. And I do think I was pretty much proven right. It fit together horribly. Dalton is a much better fit. I just don't think last Sunday is a good representation of what the Dalton Panthers will be is all. Especially minus AT and inserting the rookies more heavily. Plus, I think the D is closer to weeks 1-2 vs 3. In the end, all I care about is developing Mingo, XL, Saunders and eventually Brooks. That's what this year is really about for me. I think Andy makes that possible. They should get them on the field as much as possible.

I didn't watch him at Wash ST. So it's just looking at stats on paper. They haven't played anyone yet this year worth a hoot. I'm a bit torn on his on field demeanor. I need to see Cam Ward play against some tougher teams first. Or tougher defenses. Really need them to win the ACC (catch a Clemson) and go into the playoffs. I don't want to draft a QB at this point (first round at least). I'm cool with a flyer in the 3rd or something. I'd rather add another discount vet that can do the job. Built the team around the QB right now. -
I mean, even that is likely too far of a swing IMO. Competitive every week? We are still a bottom tier roster. I think we will be competitive with the rest of the weak teams. From what we have seen, our D can't handle teams that can run and pass. Folks will get film on Dalton. We got a lot of inexperience in the pass game too. We have had those perfect storm games before in the Tepper era before.
-
I mean, I do think the fanbase overnight has swung too hard into the Dalton/Panthers are now a very good team mindset. Odds are, a lot of things went our way for that game to work out like it did.
-
Trevor is a lab built QB he just isn’t lab built between the ears. He is in that average NFL starter tier of QBs. It’s sort of funny that we have 1 good game….and suddenly we are looking down our noses at everyone lol. They ain’t trading Lawrence. Bengals ain’t trading Burrow. Dalton ain’t a better option than those 2. Man, it’s a shame Carolina didn’t hire Joe Brady and pair him with a functional HC to let him learn and grow. Joe Brady is really turning into a nice playcaller. He was pretty good here between the 20s. If only a HC would have helped him out with the practice and prep aspect of the red zone
-
I mean, correct routes/depth/etc all matter. So yeah, I would assume Mingo, XL will be less consistent than 80 year old AT. That’s part of developing them.
-
Not sure we have an accurate picture of what the Dalton lead Panthers really are. Especially the D. They got their teeth kicked in to kick off the year before Bryce even laid an egg. I think we are better than the Bears. We probably are on par with some other teams like Denver and NY. But roster wise, we still got a ways to go.
-
I mean any given Sunday. I think the standard back down to Earth came is setup for us. I got an L this week, W the next. Then I think we rollercoaster. Our D is still on the weaker side. Got to think Mingo and XL got some learning curves ahead. Theilen removes some consistency. So I think the O is going to be inconsistent.
-
Probably next week. Raiders have zero run game which probably really aided the D. Bengals are steady with it. Higgins first game back I think was last night. Chase back in the grove after pouting. So that O should be tough to keep up with.
-
To an extent, there are a lot of positives to it. I mean, big picture there isn’t much point in Dalton throwing to Theilen/Johnson. We need Mingo and XL to have bigger roles and to develop
