He sounds like a clown after.......making history not seen since the 70s. (last team to outgain their opponent by that yardage and get skunked to that extent). but I mean, BOA is pretty mellow. Always has been. I mean, it gets up when it needs to but I like the vibe in Charlotte. But we are what Cam criticized us for being before he got here.

if you give good QBs, an OL and run game.....they make WRs. I mean, there is a long list of that occurring over and over and over. Again. Check the sales pitch for why we drafted Bryce. That was the salespitch because it is a reality. He just isn't it. Sure, you want to give every QB a crazy weapon. But most good QBs go through windows with meh talent and they aren't bottom barrel offenses because of the QB.

I'm not advocating for it. The Trevor scenario in today's NFL is horrible given what you have to pay that caliber of QB. It's better to either hit a homerun and get the next tier QB or bust on a pick. You just have to move on quick from the bust. We should of moved last year. I don't think there is any point talking about what the talk was when Bryce was drafted. He is nothing like Brees. Especially a young Brees.

Sure, but again, the Vikings still put up 350+ yards of offense while putting up that 48. They were in the offensive dreamworld. See some of those 2015 Panther games. That's when an O can really have some fun. I'm not saying TJ is great. But the Vikings actually have a TE. AT doesn't really have a place in that offense. He can't play on the outside. He isn't actually a slot WR (too slow and no YAC), you don't want him there.

to me, Trevor and CJ (what we are projecting with this post) are what people want to claim Bryce is. If you put enough talent around Trevor and CJ......you can win and compete. And I think you can. It just will be inconsistent. But w/ great talent can a Trevor or CJ get hot and make some nice runs? I think so. Maybe you catch lightning in a bottle. I don't think Bryce projects as that. His ceiling of play is just way too different than those types. They have tools he doesn't and their good days can just be better.

I think with CJ you likely are looking at variant of the sophomore slump. It didn't come week 1 of year 2. Showed itself late last year and continues on this year. CJ has the talent to play in this league. He already proved that. The first real test after you can prove you got what it takes.....is can you overcome NFL teams really getting to know you (which to me is what a sophomore slump is).

This is the NFL. Being a great college football doesn't mean anything once you enter the pros. The Golden Calf of Bristol was a great college player. Arguable THE GOAT. Armanti Edwards was a great college player. Given Bryce's limitations, you need a crazy good roster around him and scheme. And that's not what you are looking for in a NFL QB. Sam has always been Sam. At every stop. You do some some mild growth that just comes with time/starts but Sam is forever Sam. A well built team can get the better version which has ALWAYS existed to appear at times. We never even attempted the Baker thing in reality. We never gave him a shot to actually be our QB. We set that up to fail by design (which is what we do here) but yeah, the organization does stink. Which is my MAIN gripe. See my avatar. The square peg/round whole experiment that is Bryce is yet another example of it. You have to invest way too much around Bryce for him to be just okay. Just look at us to date and we still can't get average offense. He doesn't have NFL tools. Nor the added bonus of the on field leadership/energy. We are wasting time. And when you waste time, you waste the good years of DB, Horn, etc. The offensive roster has been good enough around him under Canales.....to be better than we have been. Bryce is what holds this thing back because you can't insert him into basic NFL offenses. He brings those down. And we got 2 examples of it under 2 coaches. Great NFL prospects go about making whatever exists better. That ain't BY. And it never has been. That wasn't him at Bama. Pointless seasons is my #1 pet peeve of Carolina. I'll keep repeating, this has always been clearly Matt Rhule's seasons 3 but for Bryce. We already know the answer and yet chose to waste this season. And Matt Rhule had his defenders still clinging to him going into that year 3 too.

they still put up 350+ yards of offense despite not having to. I just don't think AT fits in a functional O at this stage in his career. Which is how we landed him. Think he is just a vet bench player that might can make a random catch here or there. He basically was a slot small TE that we went to over and over and over.
-
Johnson did do something with Bryce Young. He had 34 yards in Carolina w/ Bryce. Averaged like 2 yards a target

the good fans know it is only cool to hate on the selected WRs, LBs, lineman, coordinator, etc. Because that's totally different.
-
but Carson Wentz isn't a rookie and the Vikings just hung 48 on the Bengals last week. 0 yards. I would say it a combo of 2 things, AT is another year older and the Vikings have a solid TE in TJ Hock. and AT basically become a TE in Carolina that we over fed.

Is it really revisionist history? or was the UNC/Belichick hire always an obvious bad move that some just opted to do what sports fans do and work about convince themselves something not smart would be okay. I mean, you could bump the thread from when Bill was first hired. It was always dumb. Bill isn't a college coach. The Panthers shouldn't hire Dabo if somehow Canales got fired and Dabo was able to be talked out of Clemson. I don't really need to give you a better name for Carolina to point out Dabo w/ the Panthers is just silly.
-
I also don’t think UNC really got the actual Bill that was advertised either when the original thing was brainstormed UNC has this odd late in life crisis Bill. Really weird distraction girl stuff that really runs counter to some of the most basic Belichick principles. They have tried to quiet it some bit home girl is still getting her shine interacting with Bill on the sideline. Bill also seems caught up still with NFL drama banning New England scouts lol.

Not to early to talk 2026 Hall of Fame nominees

I'd say in terms of odds of the Carolina guys. Luke is the hands down favorite and carries the strongest odds. Then Peanut Then 89 *Luke actually in this year and the rest keep waiting. -
@Icege There is a post in this exact thread making the statement he actually does have a rocket arm and is denying his shortcomings.

yep, if you look at the 20+ throws of Bryce Young w/ Canales in 2024-2025 (and remove the anomaly week 18 Atlanta game). It's horrific downfield play. Pretty sure it works out to 5 for 24 when going 20+ yards w/ 3 INTs. Is it all on him? No, you can find fault elsewhere in that in either Dave or some WRs. But to be THAT bad going downfield, you got to acknowledge Young is a big part of why it doesn't work. A big chunk of that is his heavy bad throw % and ball placement (Bryce makes life hard). WRs pretty consistently having to go for a lot of contested balls that are contested in the manner they are because of ball placement often. my stance has been consistent since the day we drafted him. Pick a direction. I don't care which. You either need a BY centric scheme and HC....or you need a new QB. We hired Frank and now Canales. And it's too late to finally attempt something year 4 that should of been attempted day 1. I was hard on the Frank hire if BY was the pick. Same for Canales if BY was going to be the guy. It's really raging at the Panthers org not really BY. But BY is the square peg and Carolina has a round hole O ever since drafting him. So he becomes the easiest fix given they have never wanted to do what they should of always done.
-
Bryce’s ball placement leaves a lot to be desired and leads to lots of contested balls, 50/50 balls and tough catches. I mean you can call those catchable. But every QB is going to throw different versions of catchable balls. and in this fantasy football data overload world….you got folks clearly lumping bad throws in with good throws under the “catchable” umbrella which makes the data not always jive with the eyeball test.
-
If everything is perfect, every QB in the NFL can throw a heater that isn’t too far downfield. Thats not how anyone on Earth talks about arm strength. Cam Newton had arm strength by NFL standards. Bryce doesn’t. It’s not complicated.
-
Last year folks were gaslighting that Bryce was the best deep passer in the NFL despite not ever making plays downfield NOW, he has A+++++++ arm strength one notch down from Brett Favre S Tier arm strength? And people complain people are Bryce “haters” for arguing against all this type wildness lol.

Jared Feinberg's Falcons v Panthers film breakdown
CRA replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, I just think Penix had one of those nightmare games that had more to do with himself than our D. Then the whole team around him sort of imploded too. but we were due for one of those going our way for a change vs us being the one gifting games to an opponent. -
Both Carolina and NE are top 5 in % of drives that result in a turnover that will be the game. Who doesn’t lose it
-
20 year (and some change) run comes to an end at OSU
-
Will be interesting if folks outside the ACC start to law the law down on that. I mean Syracuse was doing it but It wasn’t close to some of the stuff going down last year from some others

Is Mike Jack already the 2nd best trade in Panthers history?
CRA replied to Basbear's topic in Carolina Panthers
Biggest Baker mistake was just not letting him have the team from the jump and a real shot. he didn’t get reps to be the dude. He was second fiddle to Sam. They freaking had him playing scout team DE one week……and we are puzzled why it didn't work lol
