I don't think competent coaches are THAT hard to find. I think if your team is really bad, it's primarily a roster talent issue. And in the NFL, you can't scheme and coach yourself out of the fact you don't have the talent. Lot of "failed" HC would have been successful with great rosters.

in terms of just the Tepper era, the only season I was less excited about going into was 2022. Going back further gets tricky, Ron always had Cam. So probably would go to the Fox's dead man walking 2010 Clausen year. Fox and Ron generally had superstars that you could do fandom mental gymnastics with. Cam, Luke, 89, the Fox's defensive crew, etc. We just don't have the talent to pull of the mental gymnastics the same.

Where does Moton rate among the all time CAR o-line players?
CRA replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tough to ignore Turner's 5 straight bowl seasons though. 2 of those 5 featured Paradis and Larsen at C. And multiple seasons with Daryl Wiliams at RT beside him. More I think about it, in my ranking I'd probably make Moton a push with Turner. Drop my boy Wharton down to 5. Kalil, Gross, Turner/Moton, Wharton. -

1. Kalil 2. Gross 3. Turner 4. Wharton Personally, Wharton is my most underrated OL of all time here. -
I mean, Richardson's first HC was decent. Ron and Fox were basically the same thing. Not sure how 1 can be good and one trash.

I feel safe to assume Theilen can get in an ice tub if he needs one. again, it’s 2024 and the NFL. The new state of art facilities are about luxury and having the latest and greatest. Which is all cool. I’d rather have than not have. But let’s not pretend like the Panthers players are being mistreated.

The Richardson era Panthers had more success than lots of teams that had been around for decades longer. KC is the best team in the NFL right now. They have subpar equipment facilities. l’ll start caring about our equipment when they can field a a respectable football team. Free agents care about paychecks. End of the day no FA is going to sign here because of our steam room.

I think the biggest issue for David Tepper.....is his best offensive draft pick to date.....is an average, RB by committee caliber RB. As in, he is backup RB in the NFL. If that's your best offensive draft pick in a half decade.....your team is going to fail.

I think the most competitive team we have fielded in the Tepper era....was actually the Matt Rhule/Teddy Panthers. Most would I think would say Steve Wilks...but reality is Wilks was limited to only playing 1970s era ball against bad teams. They were matchup specific in terms of being competitive. That 2020 couldn't close the deal but they were pretty competitive all season long and was the best offense in the Tepper era. And that featured a green OC who didn't even drill redzone and a checkdown QB.

the Matt Rhule shrug gif is the best thing any actual Panther HC(I don't include interims) has done for us since Ron was fired. And now I can't find one that is huddle compatible
-
eh, I'd argue he is now described as a CEO/dickhead type because his Ted Lasso bologna blewup in his face so hard at this level. He was pimped as Dabo lite. Rhule had all the cheesy slogans. He had all the cheesy motivational. Rhule out there threatening to pop his own hamstrings doing tackling drills with the team. That poo don't work at this level. Once that came to be....he was just the muttering idiot who didn't get the NFL.
-
Didn't we essentially try that model with Matt Rhule already?

Already seeing some teams bring those guys in this offseason

Twitter embed isn’t work for me so here is a cut and paste… The #Chiefs have considered not using Harrison Butker for all kickoffs and instead using a player like safety Justin Reid. Special teams coordinator Dave Toub said the new kickoff rule has kickers more involved in tackles, and they don't want that for Butker. The full answer is worth a listen. The new NFL kickoff rule is such a huge change....

Ask The Old Guy: Laying the foundations
CRA replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I will always miss the old Gantt. Not saying I don't like the current Gantt. He does a fine job at what he is hired to do. But I wish he wasn't working for the team during this era. No one would be a better read IMO. -
Will the Panthers be better than most are expecting?

I mean, the huddle keeps beating this division will suck mantra....but we happen to be the clear cut worst team in the division. -

he went 5-7 from 50+ last year and was 2-2 the year prior...sometimes not going for the kick is classic old school football coaches doing what they do and playing field position. I think the knock on Eddie is clutch moments. Outside of that, there aren't really any concerns with him. I don't think he gives you those 60ish options.

wins and losses mean nothing IMO in terms of Bryce this year. What matters is how he specifically plays. He can make big strides and we lose. He can play bad and we win.
