I’ve already said I think he broke the in house/tie split. And that’s probably a pretty normal thing for an owner. I think this past hiring cycle, Tepper’s reputation didn’t allow him to hire anyone good. He hired a firm to go find people. I do think we have 2 pro teams to judge him off of. I don’t think anyone good was available for him or willing to come here last cycle……..so his only option was basically to keep it all going. All we really did was remove Fitterer and change some of O coaching staff from the Frank era. The folks at the top remain more the same than they are different. Both in the front office and top O advisors like Jim Caldwell. So, I think the Bryce issue is still largely a product of the people hired…..and Caldwell, Morgan and company got more say than the unqualified Canales I was anti everyone that brought us Bryce. I wanted a new GM office. I wanted Jim Caldwell gone.

Sure he will, he lets both his soccer and football people build teams. Problem was and IMO is…..the folks he hired to build the team. What is the GM office.

He was handpicked by Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck knows football. Frank Reich was sabotaged. When local reporters were talking about the in house split….folks tied Frank were in the house making a hard sell on CJ as a “Frank QB”. Sure, Tepper is the dude that hires everyone but there is no doubt the split was GM office and staff IMO. Tepper broke the split and when Tepper talked about the why we went with Bryce…..it was total GM talk about roster management. and there is no way Dan and Dan’s staff were anti Bryce and Fitterer was the lone voice in the GM office selling Tepper. Still think Dan is getting a pass he doesn’t deserve on Bryce.

I‘m not a fan of Caleb Williams at all. Don’t like his personality and I don’t think he will ever hit his perceived ceiling (too erratic and big play driven)….. but he has actual #1 overall talent. Like, it’s crazy to watch the vast gap in talent and tools between a real #1 overall pick and Bryce Young

Coaches are pretty consistently asked about bad QB play and other options. Tepper has a good control over local media….over the last 3 years we got the worst QB in the NFL. And there hasn’t really been any noise from local media about how bad Bryce is right now and how clearly he is in the way of our success.

And the great redemption of Sam Darnold (who was always better than Bryce at his worst) has featured him being on different 4 teams in the last 4 years. Folks wanting to hang on to the worst starting QB in the NFL because he might end up like Sam Darnold just speaks to how the bat isn’t just laying on the floor it’s buried in the sand

Heck, they might want to gamble on Seattle instead of the Saints. In 5 career games vs the Saints, Bryce has never sniffed a 200 yard game and of everyone we played this year….and the Saints held us to our least amount of offense on the year. Saints get Bryce. They are the polar opposite of Atlanta treat the Seahawks like the 2005 Panthers and but Horn with help on the only WR Darnold throws at and just hope bad Darnold makes an appearance.

Dave can leave with Bryce for all I care. Morgan too. But Bryce as the starting QB has to be a no go going forward.

because why would you want 2026 to be a camp battle of Bryce Young vs someone else? no team goes out and finds a new starter, and then moves a Bryce Young to backup. It's locker room dynamics and in house problems. Bryce literally was brought in to be the franchise QB and is wearing the C patch presently.

pretty sure he only did it once time in his career.....and that was when the local boy was in Charlotte as a nod of respect to his childhood QB.

I just keep the main thing the main thing. The equivalent here would be you raging about Joe Brady needing to be fired. Me saying, Matt Rhule is the issue and firing Joe Brady doesn't address the biggest issue at hand and won't actually matter. Which is a dance I did then too. You then call me a Joe Brady apologist because I wouldn't get away from Matt Rhule being THE problem. the main problem is Bryce Young and his supporters in the front office. Until that changes, nothing matters. Canales being a weak OC in over his head? Time and a place. You can go check my threads from preseason where I blasted amateur hour Canales for not calling plays. He needed work because he isn't good. But that's not the biggest issue we got. Like I said, nothing really matters big picture until Bryce Young and his backers address THE problem. Which is the QB. I have gone into painful detail about the entire Dave scheme is dependent on a QB bailing out a meh scheme and approach. I didn't want Dave. Dave is Foxball in reality. Which is what Pete did in Seattle in reality. It's the same approach and it needs a QB to bail it out. You want me to bash stuff I addressed long ago. I'm no Dave fan. But the biggest issue for the Carolina Panthers is Bryce. I want the outcome that leads to Bryce Young not being retained. That's what is best for the Carolina Panthers. You want 2 more pointless wins notched onto a meaningless season if it means just another completely pointless season tied to Bryce? Not me.

I'm not painting Frank as some poor helpless victim. If John Fox were to look like he couldn't coach an 10 year old rec team.......it's not because John Fox is a mentally challenge clown that doesn't know football suddenly. There would be a glaring issue that isn't John Fox at play. It's just reality acknowledging. It's the same old song and dance here. It's Groundhog Day in terms of talking about the most glaring issue at any moment in time. Constantly making excuses for Canales? I've rarely ever have said a nice world about him. I didn't like the hire. I don't like his O. I don't like him being the OC/HC. And I trashed the entire setup going into this season just like I did going into last season. my profile pic is what it is for a reason. Nothing we can do about the Tepper problem. Wasted talk. So I move on to the ones we can do something about. So the biggest issue remains, Bryce and the folks in the front office that will have the worst draft pick of all time (all things factored) attached to their names in the NFL history books. Until you solve that, nothing matters.

Frank got a dude forced on him who couldn't do NFL basics. And we know factually, NFL coaches often are made to do things. We know often they don't get there way. That's called having a job and a boss. Those aren't excuses. People make up this mythical NFL world. Canales LITERALLY ended Bryce's Young's career here 2 games into the Canales era. That is the reality. Then there was that miracle climb out of the grave stupidity that Dan Morgan allowed by not solving the issue like the entire sports world was debating (where would he be traded to and for how much). The "benching to fix him" narrative is comical PR. Every year it's the same poo. Obvious problems are obvious. But we do all these mental gymnastics to pretend the obvious isn't the obvious. It's well documented. The problem was Matt Rhule. Majority of the board spent years spinning it elsewhere. Then the obvious problem was Fitterer. Repeat. Board spent years spinning it elsehwere and deflecting. Obvious problem right now is Bryce Young and the front office that refuses to admit they made one of the worst moves in the history of the NFL. Because when it is finally said and done.....THAT will be a fact. And that fact, will be attached to resume of a lot of people presently employed in the front office of BOA. The main problem is not Canales. And I don't blame him for not trying to win every game he possibly can as ugly as possible in spite of Bryce Young. That carries too high of odds of keeping the main problem the main problem....and screws Canales in the end. Canales will be fired next season if he can't get this group to move off Bryce Young. That's the easiest thing to see.

lot folks IMO are really late to this Bryce Young problem. Also the problem that Bryce Young doesn't fit at all with Dave Canales. I have been preaching both since before week 1 of the 2024 season kicked off. And going into this year, I preached this entire season echoed Matt Rhule's pointless final season but it's Bryce. Here we are. And Dave is screwed. Whatever you want him to do.....there is a real negative attached to it. That's by our own design. and the heart of our issues IMO, is our the front office folks. The management and windows they put us in. It's been that way since Marty Hurney left. Grass ain't always greener. That's not a pro Hurney statement. Two biggest Tepper blunders, Matt Rhule.....followed by Fitterer. And we we still have the Fitterer problem given his team stayed.

Dave Canales isn't the GM. He doesn't get to just go out and do whatever he wants with the roster. We got 2 back to back coaches that have pretty much let this front office know from the jump they didn't want Bryce. Both Frank and Dave did that IMO. Early. Bryce is still here. NFL is a stupid ego driven crazy mom and pop shop world. We got front office problems. Dave Canales ain't swinging that Andy Reid weight around with an organization.

So going to Dalton doesn't do anything but set Dave up to look bad. I mean, Hubbard should of started over Rico to start the season. I get the switch wasn't flawless but I sort of get that being a little muddy. Hubbard is probably the actual leader on that O. That's a tough pull. I think Canales is in a really tough spot. We fug it all up. The right path was moving on from Bryce after 2 weeks into the Canales era. They almost had it right. We should of never gone into this season w/ Bryce it was always going to be a pointless mess. I think Dave is in a can't win situation. Playing to win has a lot of bad in the big picture. Not hiding Bryce is bad. He has no real option to bench Bryce.

I think a good coach.....basically going into the 49ers game could of coached this team into a 8 or 9 win season when all is said and done. but that good coach, is screwed because Bryce Young is going to be the starting QB in 2026 if that goes down. And in 2026, you maybe don't get the same easy schedule setup for your hide the QB approach. And you are suddently a 4 win team trying to run Rico all game.

I could totally see Cam Newton going to town......on some modern age version of the Cam Newton/Auburn situation. Just make the "thing" something other than pay to play. And make the NFL thing something other than a towel on the head. I mean, that really is the world Cam Newton wants to be living in today.
