What if we only combined their salaries by part of the field they played on? More reasonable then lol
-
And right after they talk about how prolific the offense is in yards but unable to convert 3rd downs or score in the red zone...
-
Browns had a very impressive first drive. Teddy looking like Teddy, throwing short of the first down marker on 3rd and long...

that's fair. thinking he can get us into the playoffs isn't thinking he is good enough to win consistently there... and with the current state of the offense there's zero chance of that. But I'm an optimist haha. Still, I think we are more likely with a different vet to reach the post season next year. CMC being healthy really changes the offense tho. Hell, any competent pass catching back does... and that has been a problem the last few weeks. Davis is no CMC but he was sooooo much better than Chubba in that role. I still have hope for our rookie, dont get me wrong, but Davis had 2 drops in 15 games, 2.9% rate... Hubbard is over 25% drop rate with 5 or 6 already I personally think that is a bigger issue than the fact Robby is coating his gloves in olive oil between possessions.

has this thread forgotten PJ walker barely fighting off will fuging grier in training camp?

I do think that with a slightly more shored up D with more experience, a new OL (this being key), and better receiving options out of the backfield behind CMC, this is a playoff team. If CMC stays healthy and if we don't have severe injuries to multiple critical d starters this still could Have been a playoff team this year... But I doubt those things will be the case, especially with Horn already out for the season. Edit: the running back outlet seems critical for Brady, and Chubba has dropped 26% of the throws he's been targeted with. Some of that is on Darnold but not all.

It does feel like the Panthers offensive identity is "boy genius OC", which hasn't worked so well. I think the fact our primary back with CMC injured has trouble catching the ball is really, really hurting our scheme. He has dropped an astonishing 26% of passes thrown his way. Hopefully the focus on the run will help.

I think we get a decent vet option, and go into next year with competition between Darnold and another vet with a rebuilt OL. Year after we go all in on a rookie QB. That's assuming Darnold keeps playing inconsistent and has some good and some bad games. If he just flat out sucks every game from here on out, they may jettison him completely Maybe we go all in on a rookie qb next year if we fall in love with one, but this OL... Ugh I just hope we fix it this offseason.

not all the women making accusations are (or at least were not initially) represented by the same attorney; not all were even seeking legal recourse, but telling their story about sexual harassment. https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/03/29/first-hand-story-of-deshaun-watson-inappropriate-behavior-not-in-lawsuit tbh, I have not kept up with the Watson case since it became very clear how long this was going to take, and I was more and more disgusted by his conduct the more I read. there are many, many, many summaries, extensively sourced, that should deeply disgust and concern anyone looking at this situation objectively.

Cam is nowhere near what he was, but the level of hyperbole being thrown around about him is ridiculous. He's got plenty of arm for intermediate throws and completed more than a few very deep throws last year (and yes, even after COVID). I do think he's got some lingering shoulder issues in all likelihood, I don't think we should bring him back, but he's not as bad as some posters here think (nor as good as some others think, probably).

How could anyone think Bonnafon is better than CMC wtf
-
PJ is not a Cam-level athlete or anywhere even close...
-
4 catches for 48 yards is 12 yards per reception which is 3 fewer yards per reception than with Darnold. Not to mention we see the same pattern in 2019... He may have been happier in the offense last year but blaming Darnold doesn't fit the data we have. Brady is the one calling the plays and routes...

Rhule has said these are team losses, that Sam needs to play better, and that failing to get stops near end of games is rough given what we've invested in the D. Did he say equal blame etc? I don't think he blames the D equally or more than the O for our losses. He has blamed Darnolds play a lot more. He is changing our entire offensive philosophy because we aren't getting it done. I mostly blame the O, but the D has had opportunities to get stops they didn't... Which did contribute to losses. Does that make them MORE at fault?? No. Not at all.
-
The offense is definitely a problem but our defense has been gashed and unable to stop people at critical times the last 3 weeks. Unsurprisingly we've also had serious injuries to key D players during that time. I don't buy the "D is too gassed" argument entirely because they shouldn't be gassed in the 3rd quarter, where they very often are. I do think they are further along than the O but I don't think that is necessarily saying a ton.

Losing to the Giants - should someone get fired?
mav1234 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Interesting, especially because it is possible Tepper is believing the boy genius hype. I just don't see Rhule ever firing Snow. And while you're right on the investments, the fact Rhule is forcing a change in gameplan/strategy on O tells me he isn't happy with Brady. If Rhule tries to fire Brady, and if Tepper stepped in... would be interesting.
