This offense uses 3 WR sets frequently... I don't see his contract as hurting any of our young players... Robby wasn't just a 1 year guy either.. he flashed on the Jets. They do need to get him more involved, though. I think it'll happen with CMC down. Part of me expects teams will need to start picking their poison with DJ or Robby.

The way the coaches eased him into the game was actually impressive. They put him in a chance to succeed against a very tough D. Frankly though I do think Wilson showed more raw talent. Not that it matters. The Jets are going to ruin him like they almost did Darnold. Honestly it's just sad at this point.

I am surprised he isn't getting the ball more... But I think that will change with CMC out... And I wonder if teams will just flat out double DJ on most plays soon with CMC out.

I do think Saleh is a good coach and it's certainly possible they could have used or traded that #2 pick for enough pieces to have built a good team around Darnold. But I'm glad they didn't try haha.

Not the worst feeling, but bad. If we had barely held them off in the 2nd half it would be worse. The fact the team showed resilience, even if it was against an undermanned Texans team, mitigated a bit of that pain.

Id rather have not had the injuries... But only idiots said this about Cam. Darnold is athletic enough to make those plays so let's fuging take it imo. That said, I wish we'd kicked that DG in the first half instead of running Chubba into a brick wall...

For the franchise... I agree. Darnold is going to be put to the test at a level we didn't expect much sooner without CMC. So far, the 2nd half suggests he may be up to the challenge. But we will see when it's against a better team. I believe he can do it. For our prospects this season, tho... We really need CMC to maximize the offense.

17 2nd half points without his top weapon? Yeah, damn. 6 total TDs, 1 INT over 3 games... I believe he's over 900 yards too.

He needs some reps catching passes out of the backfield, but definitely played hard, especially making his mark in the 2nd half.

Darnold proves he's more than just someone capable of "dumping off" to CMC.

Darnold with 900+ total yards, 6 total TDs and 1 INT... And the 2nd half without CMC. Really answered some questions. Where the hell is Anderson, tho?

Still a full half, just need to flip the script and play a complete first half instead of second. This team can score without CMC, Roby and DJ are plenty talented. Just need to keep them involved... and uh, maybe limit the drops and keep someone in to fuging block

Need an offense that can score more than 7 points a game. Also need a fuging coaching staff that recognizes the value of points. We should have kicked the field goal instead of sending our backup RB into a blender. wtf.

Brady's terrible red zone playcalling rears its ugly head. Yes sucks we can't get a yard with our RB, but we can't. Stop running up the fugging middle

I'm one of the first to tell you Darnold looks much improved from his days we ith the Jets, and I'll defend him against people saying he looks bad of mediocre etc... But it'll take more than what we've seen for me to get me even close to as excited about his play as I was our last franchise QB. No knock on Darnold there... Just want to see more first. It's only been 2 (promising) games.

You can't say "he's going to look better because he's got a better team, but will commit as many turnovers as before, despite the fact he hasn't so far, but also he's made a couple of mistakes so he's going to definitely make as many mistakes as he used to despite not doing so so far!". It doesn't make sense. His first and 3rd season he had 5 and 4 fumbles, over 13/12 games, btw. Averages are pretty dumb when you've got observations that deviate substantially from others.

So in his 2nd game as a Panther while working to learn a new offense and create chemistry with teammates he looks like a dude that once he became a veteran, consistently won plenty of games for his teams... Why is this a bad thing? Dude is 24. Alex Smith didn't even become the guy we refer to until like 7 years into the league. If Darnold already looks like a 7 year vet that is actually a good thing.

the "CmC check down" stuff... Man, plenty of those throws are not check downs... They're designed plays to get CMC into mismatches... How can you simultaneously say "his turnover rate hasn't gone down" while saying "2 games worth of passes isn't enough to show his turnover rate has TRULY gone down"? It doesn't make sense. Either his play in these two games shows something, or it doesn't, it can't be that you get to ignore his int% while pointing to his one int as evidence he's "the same." If Darnold gets to a total of 27 turnovers it'll be significantly more turnovers than he's had in the last 2 years by quite a bit, despite a start with fewer turnovers, and with a better cast... Very unlikely.

Anyone that thinks from his first two games he looks exactly like he did on average on the Jets is either not watching him on the Panthers, or didn't watch him on the Jets. Yes, the supporting cast is immeasurably better. But he is making smarter, faster decisions than most of the plays I saw while he was at NY.
