  1. Moving on from Hill in theory allowed a more complete team and the Chiefs got their win. They do need to reload on offense but let's not act like the Hill trade sent the team into some kind of tail spin... To me the bigger deal is a guy like Tilis is CHOOSING to come here, to move on from an excellent org. You know who doesn't do that? Some boot licker looking for his only shot in the league like some have painted Morgan and Canales. This is the move all offseason that tells me something really is different, or at least being sold to people as different. This dude isn't joining the cast of the next season of Game of Thrones.
  2. Okay if they actually do this the way the article describes my feelings are gonna change a bit. This sounds much more sound and considered than last year's effort to throw money at every available coach with experience and just assume it'll all go well.
  3. Honestly no. I don't want to go through them again and I didn't save any. It was more towards the middle of the season and I'm 90% sure it came up in JTs a couple times. They're ones that were all linked from here. Nor were the breakdowns ever all bad, ofc.
  4. I mean, I kinda think they are, if he wants out and they aren't letting him. Yes, he has a contract in place, but he joined a staff that no longer exists. OTOH he has very good reason to stay if he doesn't get a HC job elsewhere. He's built a strong D and it'll likely get better, and there's no guarantees if he goes to another place he'll have the same success. He may WANT to stay, for all we know... afaik he hasn't spoken publicly. He still could land an HC job, though. I hope he does... I like Evero quite a bit.
  5. So I don't think we should reach for a QB with our 2nd rnd pick, but if one falls to us, I do think we take them. However in general I think we need to get people in to push BY in camp, and while I don't think we abandon him, I think he's got a shorter leash...
  6. I wish we'd conducted more second interviews with other candidates. It felt like this was a bit of an abbreviated search in that regard but maybe I'm wrong. And meh, I just have a bad feeling about the emphasis put so much on fixing BY.
  7. 3 years makes sense. That will let us move on from BY if needed and let a supposed QB guru get a shot with another young guy if BY doesn't work to prove himself.
  8. A lot of posters don't realize how critical footwork is I think. Yeah the Cams and the Josh Allen's used a Canon to make up for bad footwork early but with decent footwork, Young's arm talent is more than enough. But the problem is if he can't be consistent even when a pocket is breaking down, that's where the issue is. And as you say - that's mental... He's never gonna get taller or stronger to make up for physical deficiencies but there's still a chance he'll become better. My big concern is... Okay, he gets better. But how much better?
  9. Mixed feelings here... I think if he doesn't get a HC spot this year but he gets more pieces on D and a 2nd year with Brown, Luvu, Horn, etc I could see him having an incredible defense and I think that gets him a HC spot. If he wants to leave he should be allowed to, but 3 teams in 3 years is rough. Edit: 100% honest I would rather have had Evero. I don't give a poo about fixing Bryce, I mean it's a nice idea but I'd rather go with the guy that has proven he can maximize from guys with talent.... Evero... But that's neither here nor there anymore and hopefully canales.does well
  10. Damn... Good luck to him there if he lands it. He's made the most out of a bad situation for sure.
  11. This was huge. Tabor is a good special teams coach but was always going to be Teppers coach, not Canales'...
  12. Oooh I thought you meant 2 more seasons. He'll definitely get a chance this coming season, as he should, but he's gonna need to have a major uptick for us to really count on him I'd think.
  13. Several breakdowns through the season asked to the possibility Bryce was missing open guys cause of his height, especially if the pocket wasn't pristine
  14. Rhule was exciting in how different he was from Rivera. Ugh. Reich was.... Well, I was excited that he could put together a staff I guess. My excitement was very low there. I just... Don't care anymore. We didn't even finish our interviews again... I just hope this year's charmer is actually good.
  15. No way. If we get another season like last year we move on with a new young QB the following season. Hell I don't think Bryce survives a full season of play like he showed this year. Yuck.
  16. I don't recall this at all. My memory is Dalton's big criticism was arm strength/talent not being ideal (along with height and athleticism).... just the first couple google hits... not chosen cause I value them ... https://bleacherreport.com/articles/643144-andy-dalton-2011-nfl-draft-scouting-report "There are questions about his ability to push the ball up-field. He threw passes of 60 yards in the air during pro day, but this was in shorts and without wind. Dalton will not be a big-arm quarterback in a vertical system. He has the arm strength to throw go routes and out patterns but relies more on timing to make his throws. The ball will float down the seam too often." https://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2011adalton_greg.php "Player Comparison: Chase Daniel. I have seen Dalton compared to Drew Brees, but at this point, a more realistic comparison is to another player on the New Orleans depth chart. Like Daniel, Dalton lacks ideal height and arm strength, but is an accurate passer. Both played in a shotgun offense at the collegiate level. Daniel was not drafted, but he lacked the “it” factor and perhaps some of that was absorbing losses against stiffer competition in the Big XII." https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/bucky-brooks-scouting-report-on-andy-dalton Bucky Brooks: "... Despite displaying B/B-plus arm talent/arm strength..." Dalton was not considered to have a strong arm strength, but "good" arm strength. In fact, this is the same category Bryce falls into...
  17. Oh I have no doubt we're the only ones that wanted Canales. I just don't believe he's the only dude we could get. Ultimately, Tepper likes to outsmart the league (lol), and I think that's again what he is trying to do here.
  18. I don't agree that Dan Morgan is only here cause nobody else wanted to be. I also doubt that is true of Canales. The one thing we know about Tepper is how fixated he becomes on people... He has a habit of making decisions before interviews are complete, it feels. Anyway, whatever. Hard to be excited about this.
  19. Meh, I don't know poo about football in the end relative to many, but I just don't care about this hire. Calling myself underwhelmed is itself an understatement
  20. Stroud was hit a ton too, hurried often... I dunno I think people think HOU had some godly OL
  21. Good for him, hopefully he does well at it.
  22. I'm honestly not that impressed with Canales, but eh, it is what it is. Evero honestly seems to really work magic with units with a lot of holes, but I dunno how he'd fare as HC. I think he'd get the most of out his players, though.
  23. Our defense did have to contend with an offense scoring more points for the opponents than they scored themselves (hyperbole but...). They also had to contend with terrible field position. I've not checked in at the end of the season but we had a great third down defense and a good yards per play defense overall. My thing with Evero is how he managed to patch massive holes with poor parts.
  24. Could you imagine this place if Brown gets a HC job.... And actually does well? Haha. I mean it isn't gonna happen yet but still.
  25. A rare trade that worked out very well for both teams.
